Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang has a message for young people: use artificial intelligence to turn ambitious ideas into reality. Speaking to entrepreneur and podcast host David Senra, Wang described how he uses Meta’s Muse AI to organise workflows and manage tasks, treating the technology as a “second brain”.Wang believes personal AI agents could help people focus on their goals by handling some of the work required to achieve them. His comments also offer a glimpse into Meta’s strategy as technology companies compete to build AI tools that can do more than answer questions.
Why does Meta’s AI chief want young people to use AI?
Wang encouraged young people to use AI to pursue ambitions that might otherwise seem difficult to achieve.“Like you're a kid, you have big dreams, use AI, help make those things happen,” he said during the conversation. His message centres on using AI as a practical tool rather than simply as a source of information. Instead of spending all their time on routine tasks, users could delegate parts of their work to AI agents and concentrate on developing ideas. However, AI agents still have limitations. Their usefulness depends on the tasks they can perform, the tools they can access and how reliably they complete instructions.
How Alexandr Wang uses AI as a ‘second brain’
Wang said he had set up multiple workflows using Meta’s Muse AI and treated them as a “second brain”. In this approach, AI can help organise information, manage tasks and support repeated processes. Rather than starting from scratch each time, users can build workflows around activities they regularly perform.Wang expressed confidence in the long-term potential of personal AI, saying he believed in Muse and the personal agent as a future technology format. For students, creators and young professionals, the idea is to use AI to support planning, research and execution. The goal is not simply to generate content, but to help move a project from an idea towards completion.
Why Meta is focusing on personal AI
Wang also explained how Meta’s approach differs from the emphasis on coding agents at some competing AI companies, including OpenAI and Anthropic. He suggested that Meta sees an opportunity to develop AI around people's everyday lives rather than concentrating primarily on tools for software development. The company’s ambition is linked to what it calls personal superintelligence: AI designed to support individuals with daily responsibilities and personal goals. That vision could make AI more useful to people who do not work in technology. But its success will depend on whether these systems can perform tasks reliably, protect personal information and earn users’ trust. For now, Wang’s message is clear: young people should explore how AI can help them work towards their ambitions, while understanding its limitations and remaining responsible for the decisions they make.

Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang has revealed an unusual reason for why he wants to wait before having children: brain-computer interfaces such as Elon Musk’s Neuralink. Wang made the comments during an appearance on The Shawn Ryan Show last year, while discussing artificial intelligence, human development and the future of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). He said he wants to wait until technologies such as Neuralink “start working” before having kids. His argument is based on the idea that a child’s brain may be much more adaptable to a BCI than an adult brain.
Why Wang wants to wait for Neuralink
Wang pointed to the first seven years of life as a particularly important period for brain development. “In your first like seven years of life, your brain is more neuroplastic than at any other point in your life,” he said. He used vision as an example. Wang discussed children born with cataracts and argued that if normal visual input is blocked during early development, removing the cataracts years later may not allow the brain to develop normal visual processing. He then applied that idea to brain-computer interfaces. Wang believes children who grow up with such technology could learn to use it in ways that adults receiving an implant later in life may not.
Could a brain chip become part of the brain?
Wang suggested that early exposure could make a BCI feel more naturally integrated with a person's abilities.“When we get Neuralink and we get these other technologies, kids who are born with them are going to learn how to use them in like, crazy, crazy ways,” he said. He argued that the technology could become “a part of their brain” in a way that might never happen for an adult who receives an implant later. That is Wang’s prediction, not an established medical finding. Current BCIs remain an emerging technology, and there is no established evidence that children should receive such implants for cognitive enhancement.
Wang links the idea to the future of AI
Wang also connected his thinking to the rapid development of artificial intelligence. He said he believes AI will become increasingly capable and could eventually take different physical forms, including robots and other systems. His broader argument is that AI may develop much faster than biological evolution. In that future, he believes humans could eventually need ways to connect more directly with computing systems. For Wang, that possibility is enough to make Neuralink more than a futuristic gadget. He sees it as a technology that could potentially shape how future generations interact with AI. For now, however, that future remains speculative. Neuralink and other BCI companies are still developing and testing the technology, meaning the idea of children growing up with brain implants remains firmly in the realm of future possibilities.

Artificial intelligence has become central to the strategy of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. However, recent reports suggest the company is reorganising its internal AI structure, which could reshape the influence of one of its most prominent executives.According to reports from The New York Times, Mark Zuckerberg is restructuring engineering teams and AI research divisions as part of Meta’s broader push toward advanced artificial intelligence. The changes affect the responsibilities of Alexandr Wang, founder of Scale AI and head of Meta Superintelligence Labs.
Who is Alexandr Wang and why he joined Meta
Alexandr Wang, now 28, is widely known in the technology industry as the founder of Scale AI, a startup specialising in data infrastructure used to train artificial intelligence systems. In mid-2025, Meta invested $14.3 billion to acquire a 49 per cent stake in Scale AI, bringing Wang into the company to lead its newly created Meta Superintelligence Labs. The unit was designed to combine Meta’s AI research and product development teams to accelerate the company’s efforts in advanced AI models.Following the deal, Wang reportedly received one of the largest executive compensation packages in the technology sector.
What changed inside Meta’s AI division
Nine months after Wang joined Meta, the company has begun restructuring its AI organisation.According to internal sources cited by Business Insider, several engineering teams that previously reported to Wang are now being moved to other executives. These changes involve:engineering teamsdata pipelines used to train AI modelsdevelopment of internal projects such as the “Avocado” and “Mango” AI modelsThe move is part of the creation of a new applied AI engineering organisation at Meta. The new division will be led by Maher Saba, a senior executive at Meta’s Reality Labs unit, which develops virtual reality and smart-glasses technology.Different visions inside Meta’s AI strategyReports suggest there have been differences in strategy within Meta’s leadership.Wang was reportedly focused on building advanced AI models capable of competing with systems developed by companies such as Google and OpenAI.However, other Meta executives, including Chris Cox and Andrew Bosworth, have reportedly prioritised building AI products that directly integrate with Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.Sources say this difference reflects two approaches:one focused on building powerful models, and another centred on practical consumer products.
Internal tensions and leadership shifts
The restructuring follows earlier leadership changes within Meta’s AI division. In late 2025, Yann LeCun, a prominent AI researcher, reportedly stepped down rather than reporting under Wang’s leadership.Reports also indicate that Wang expressed frustration internally about what he described as tight management oversight on Meta’s AI strategy.Sources suggest Zuckerberg maintains close control over AI initiatives within the company, which some employees believe limits experimentation.Meta has not indicated that Wang is leaving the company, as per media reports; the restructuring is intended to strengthen AI development rather than reduce his role.
Meta’s bigger AI ambitions
Despite the leadership changes, Meta continues to invest heavily in artificial intelligence. The company is working on new large language models, AI-powered assistants, smart glasses and virtual-reality systems. Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang’s role evolves as Mark Zuckerberg restructures AI leadership

The next five years will bring some of the most significant scientific discoveries in human history. This timeline comes directly from Alexandr Wang, the founder of Scale AI and the current Chief AI Officer at Meta.Speaking on a recent podcast hosted by Varun Mayya, Wang shared detailed insights into how Meta is positioning itself in the global artificial intelligence race. The strategy focuses not just on building smarter models, but on engineering an organisation fully equipped to deliver superintelligence to a global audience. With a current base of 3.5 billion daily active users, Meta holds a distinct distribution advantage over other technology firms.

The Strategy Behind Meta Superintelligence Labs
Wang joined Meta seven months ago to head the newly formed Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). According to his statements on the podcast, the initial focus was entirely on establishing proper scientific foundations rather than rushing to meet artificial deadlines. Wang explained that successful AI development requires a continuous cycle between research and product teams. He described this as a "virtuous flywheel." In this system, frontier research leads to the creation of consumer products. As these products gain scale, they justify the expansion of physical infrastructure. This expanded infrastructure then allows researchers to build even larger, more capable models.According to Wang, the traditional model where research happens in isolation and is later handed off to product developers is no longer effective. Instead, researchers and product managers at Meta work in tandem to co-develop new systems.
Hardware and 24/7 Personal Agents
A central element of Meta's future product line involves personal AI agents. Wang stated that the company is moving toward a future where agents work 24/7 on behalf of users. The goal is to move AI assistance beyond the smartphone and integrate it into a "constellation of peripherals."Wearable technology, specifically the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, plays a major role in this transition. Addressing the current state of the smart glasses, Wang acknowledged that they are running an older version of the Llama model. However, he confirmed that modern AI integration is coming very soon. He described the hardware as being "one software update away from superpowers."The long-term vision involves an always-on personal agent that can see what the user sees and hear what the user hears, providing contextual assistance across multiple devices throughout the day.
Building Trust and Model Behaviour
As AI models become more integrated into daily life, safety and user trust have become primary concerns. Wang noted that developing a personal agent one that users trust with their personal goals and daily routines requires an extreme level of responsibility. To manage this, Meta collaborates with philosophers and psychologists to design the behaviour of their models. According to Wang, the objective is to engineer a mutual relationship where the AI system actively works to help the human user succeed.Reflecting on his early career as an 18-year-old entrepreneur founding Scale AI, Wang noted a shift in his approach to business. While impatience drove his early success, he now focuses on building foundations that offer long-term durability and are difficult for competitors to replicate. He also shared his perspective on working closely with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Wang described Zuckerberg as a leader who identifies future technological shifts quickly and translates those complex advancements into practical consumer products and business ecosystems. By establishing MSL, Meta aims to lock in these structural advantages for the coming decades.

Meta’s Alexandr Wang says that in the next five years, superintelligence could unlock the biggest discoveries in human history

Meta's Chief AI Officer, Alexandr Wang, talked about "personal superintelligence" at the AI Impact Summit held in Delhi. He stated that the company is working to build this AI power, which will be like a trusted digital partner in people's daily lives. Wang said India is "one of the few countries where we could scale personal superintelligence very fast." He is the founder and CEO of Scale AI and the youngest self-made billionaire". What is "personal superintelligence" that he talked about? It is artificial intelligence, but way more advanced than your regular AI agents like ChatGPT and Gemini. It is like a digital "second brain" that even does the thinking on your behalf and then implements the actions as well. You will simply be informed about them after everything is done. "Personal superintelligence" is different from ChatGPT and other such tools in the sense that, while in the latter you need to ask a question to get an answer, the former is an autonomous partner who knows so much about you that it can do tasks even before you ask it to.
Personal superintelligence will hack into all your information
In order to become your better half, PSI needs a ton of data on you. It knows your history, your style of work, your relationships, and your goals. It knows how you like a certain email or how much you like spending on a vacation. It will act before you even see the problem and bring it to your attention to fix it before it becomes an issue. PSI suggests solutions or handles the logistics automatically. It interlinks various facets of your life and doesn't compartmentalise them. It knows how your finances, health data, your professional projects, and hobbies are interlinked. It is proactive and not reactive. Also Read: Alexandr Wang’s net worth: The rise of 29-year-old AI billionaire
Personal superintelligence can create a major crisis for humanity
For example, if you want to book a holiday, PSI will scan through your pattern to know your budget and the dates you are available. It would scour destinations and flights for you and even make the booking, and only inform you after it is all done. Sounds pretty cool, right? Getting all the work done without having to spend any time doing it. However, "personal superintelligence" comes with a load of cons. Firstly, since it is basically living your life for you, before presenting you with a better version, it knows too much about you. It breaches privacy and exposes your data. The other major problem is that humans will stop evolving and growing. It creates a "feedback loop" risk since AI shows you only what it wants you to. The person does not get to look at the other options and what's new. Since there is a lack of information, it limits your personal growth. Alexandr Wang and OpenAI’s Sam Altman have pegged "personal superintelligence" as the next big thing.
