BP&nbsp;fired&nbsp;technician Scott Tracey from its Kwinana refinery in January 2019 for breaching its code of conduct after he posted a video to a staff Facebook group using a widely used clip from the movie Der Untergang (Downfall), showing&nbsp;Hitler&nbsp;ranting on the brink of losing World War Two.

Tracey appealed, and the Fair Work Commission (FWC) ruled earlier this year that he had been unfairly dismissed, paving the way for him to return to work. And in May,&nbsp;BP&nbsp;lost an appeal in the Federal Court against the FWC ruling.

The FWC, on Monday, awarded Tracey A$201,394 to cover lost earnings.

In a statement on Tuesday&nbsp;BP&nbsp;said it was reviewing the FWC decision.

The video, which the company had said it considered "highly offensive and inappropriate", had captions showing&nbsp;Hitler&nbsp;as an unnamed&nbsp;BP&nbsp;manager enraged about&nbsp;workers rejecting a pay deal.

Tracey had posted the video on a Facebook page for&nbsp;BP's refinery employees and shared it with some workmates.

The&nbsp;Australian&nbsp;Workers Union (AWU), which represented Tracey, welcomed the latest FWC decision.

"While it doesn't make up for the completely unnecessary drama and heartache Mr. Tracey has been dragged through, we are satisfied with the Commission's ruling," AWU Western Australia Secretary Brad&nbsp;Gandy&nbsp;said in a statement.

"In addition to winning the appeal and successfully gaining back our member's job, we have now secured the money our member deserves."

An alligator that was believed to have once belonged to Adolf Hitler has died at the Moscow Zoo.

The alligator, named Saturn, was about 84 years old when he died on Friday.

Saturn was born in the United States and later sent to the Berlin Zoo, from which he later escaped. His whereabouts were unknown until 1946, when British soldiers found him and gave him to the Soviet Union.

It was then alleged that he belonged to the collection of Hitler and not in the Berlin Zoo.

Director Taika Waititi explains why he agreed to essay the role of Adolf Hitler in 'Jojo Rabbit'. During the film's premiere at American Legion Post 43 on Tuesday night, Waititi explained why despite other actors being on his wish list to play the role, he took on the part himself.

"You start out&nbsp;thinking of bigger stars to be part of a film like this or to play this imaginary Hitler. But at the end of the day, it came down to the simple fact that if we had done that, that would have overshadowed the heart of the story which is this beautiful story, this relationship story between these two kids," he told a magazine.

"And if there was a big celebrity then it would have become the so-and-so Hitler film,&nbsp;which is not at all what this is," added the filmmaker.

The upcoming satirical comedy revolves around a lonely German boy Jojo Rabbit, whose life is turned upside after discovering that his mother Rosie, played by Scarlet Johansson, is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic during World War II.

The only person he feels he can truly count on is his imaginary friend Adolf Hitler, portrayed by Taika Waititi. Apart from starring in the film, Waititi has also directed the upcoming movie. It is set to hit the big screens on October 18.

Germany's parliament on Friday condemned the BDS movement that demands a boycott of Israel as anti-Semitic, warning that its actions were reminiscent of the Nazis' campaign against Jews.

The Bundestag condemnation came with Israel battling a growing chorus led by the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to shun the Eurovision Song Contest which Tel Aviv will host on Saturday.

US superstar Madonna has signed a contract to perform during the interval of the high-profile event, it was finally announced on Thursday, ending uncertainty after calls for her to boycott the event.

In its rare multi-party resolution, the German lower house said Friday that the campaign run by the BDS was "reminiscent of the most terrifying phase of German history" under Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime.

"'Don't buy' stickers of the BDS movement on Israeli products remind one of the inevitable associations with the Nazi call 'Don't buy from Jews', and other corresponding graffiti on facades and shop windows," said the non-binding resolution.

"The methods" of the BDS movement "are anti-Semitic," added the resolution put forward by Chancellor Angela Merkel's centre-right CDU-CSU bloc, coalition partner Social Democratic Party, plus the liberal FDP and the Greens parties.

With the vote, German MPs pledged to reject any financial support for the boycott movement.&nbsp;

The Bundestag will also refrain from allowing BDS and its partners to host events on its premises.

The BDS movement describes itself as a Palestinian-led action, and urges the boycott of Israeli goods, services and culture because of Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.

However, for Sebastian Brehm of the CSU, "this is an action that has nothing to do with the criticism of the Israeli government. Rather it is clearly motivated by anti-Semitism".

The far-right deputy mayor of Adolf Hitler's hometown, whose poem comparing migrants to rats sparked uproar, will step down, his Freedom Party (FPOe) said Tuesday.&nbsp;

The poem by Christian Schilcher, deputy mayor of the town of Braunau am Inn in Upper Austria, used the image of foreign rats integrating with Austrian ones to illustrate the dangers of "mixing" cultures and languages.

FPOe leader and Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache said that Schilcher would quit his job and leave the FPOe "in order to avert any damage to the party".

The row overshadowed the FPOe's campaign launch ahead of European Parliament elections next month.

Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who has led a coalition between the FPOe and his own centre-right People's Party (OeVP) since late 2017, praised Strache's "clear actions".

"The resignation of the deputy mayor of Braunau was the only logical outcome of this abominable and racist poem," Kurz said.

Both Kurz's and Strache's parties have run on anti-immigration platforms but with May's elections looming Kurz has come under pressure to condemn outbursts from FPOe members.

The opposition Social Democrats (SPOe) said the coalition should be dissolved to protect "the country's image".

"There has to be a democratic consensus that human beings cannot be denigrated, insulted or humiliated," SPOe leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner said on Tuesday.

Strache himself was criticised last week for a Facebook post linking to a site which has published Holocaust denial and various anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

German prosecutors have charged a 92-year-old former concentration camp guard with being an accessory to murder, in what will be one of the last ever cases against Nazi-era war crimes.

Hamburg prosecutors accused the man, identified only as Bruno D, of aiding and abetting 5,230 cases of murder during the almost nine months he spent on duty at a concentration camp watch-tower at the end of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/germany-making-disputed-nazi-war-payments-to-over-2000-people-199036">World War Two</a>.

According to Die Welt newspaper, which first reported the charges, the man admitted to prosecutors during a voluntary interrogation last year that he had seen people being taken to gas chambers to be murdered.

"What good would it have done for me to leave? They'd just have found somebody else," he told prosecutors, according to the newspaper.

"I felt bad for the people there. I didn't know why they were there. I knew that they were Jews who had committed no crime."

D., who was 17 when he began serving at Stutthof concentration camp near Gdansk in present-day Poland, said he had only joined the SS, the paramilitary wing of Adolf Hitler's Nazi party, because a heart weakness meant he was only suited for "garrison service".

He said he had not been a Nazi sympathiser.

With only a handful of people involved in Nazi Germany's genocidal crimes still alive, all in extreme old age, prosecutors are racing against time to ensure at least some justice is done by the victims, including the five million Jews murdered in the Holocaust.

The case against another nonagenarian former guard at Stutthof, where more than 60,000 people died, was halted last year because the suspect was too infirm to stand trial.

Another, Oskar Groening, known as the "Bookkeeper of Auschwitz" for his job counting cash stolen from people sent to the most notorious of all the regime's death camps, died last year aged 96 as he waited to begin his sentence.

Israel's Hebrew University put on display on Wednesday a collection of 110 manuscript pages written by Albert Einstein, many of which it said had never been shown in public before.

They include hand-written mathematical notes, most from 1944 to 1948, and also an appendix - which the university said had been thought lost - to a paper on unified field theory that the German-born physicist presented to the Prussian Academy of Science in 1930.

Einstein, who developed the theory of relativity, a pillar of modern science, tried unsuccessfully for decades to prove another concept - that electromagnetism and gravity were different manifestations of a single fundamental field.

Hebrew University said it had received the papers as a donation to its 80,000-item Albert Einstein Archives from a foundation in Chicago after they were purchased from a private collector in North Carolina.

"These papers reflect the way Einstein was thinking, the way Einstein was working. Most of them, in his handwriting, are mathematical calculations with very little text," said Professor Hanoch Gutfreund, academic adviser to the archives.

"They are summaries of his notes; whenever something struck him, a new idea, he sat down immediately and scribbled it, looking for its consequences," Gutfreund told Reuters.

Einstein, who settled in the United States after renouncing his German citizenship when Adolf Hitler came to power, bequeathed his scientific and personal writings to Hebrew University.

Einstein won the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics. He died in New Jersey in 1955.

Five watercolour <a href="http://www.wionews.com/world/five-hitler-paintings-to-go-under-hammer-in-nuremberg-196155">canvasses attributed to Adolf Hitler</a>, the head of Germany’s Nazi party leading up to and during World War II, have failed to sell at auction, the Weidler auction house said on Sunday.

The Nuremberg-based auction house, in the north of Germany's Bavaria&nbsp;region, announced a “Special Adolf Hitler Auction” that included various objects the Nazi leader owned as well as five paintings bearing his signature.

The mayor of Nuremberg, Ullrich Mally, had criticized the auction saying it was in "bad taste."

The institution said that the sale did not run the risk of attracting far-right customers saying that “those interested would be collectors of art,” a spokesperson for the Weidler said.

The five Hitler watercolours the auction house had included in the lot had been expected to fetch anywhere between 19,000 and 45,000 euros, but they failed to sell.

One the objects that allegedly belonged to Hitler, a table-cloth, sold for 630 euros ($714), and a porcelain jug with a detail of a yacht, fetched 5,500 euros.&nbsp;

Both items were sold to foreign buyers who were bidding in writing and over the phone from outside of Germany.&nbsp;

Originally the lot included around two dozen watercolour paintings that had been attributed to the Nazi leader but when doubts arose concerning their providence and authorship the auction house removed them from the sale.&nbsp;

German prosecutors on Thursday seized some 63 paintings from the Weidler bearing Hitler's initials or signature on the grounds they were thought to be forgeries.&nbsp;

The seized canvasses included several that were not intended to be sold at the Sunday auction.

The far-right Austrian was an avid amateur painter, and the sale of his works continues to spark both interest and outrage in equal measure.&nbsp;

Hitler ruled Germany between 1933 and 1945 and started World War II in 1939. The war ended in 1945 and destroying the Nazi regime.&nbsp;

Hitler's Nazi Germany persecuted dissidents and the Jewish community in Germany and beyond with a policy of genocide that murdered some 6million people.

It is thought between 15 and 20 million people were imprisoned or died in Nazi concentration and extermination camps between 1933-1945.&nbsp;

The auction took place in the German city that hosted the trials of leading Nazi war criminals between 1945 and 1946 after Germany lost World War II.

The five Hitler watercolours the auction house had included in the lot had been expected to fetch anywhere between 19,000 and 45,000 euros, but they failed to sell. One the objects that allegedly belonged to Hitler, a table-cloth, sold for 630 euros ($714), and a porcelain jug with a detail of a yacht, fetched 5,500 euros. Both items were sold to foreign buyers who were bidding in writing and over the phone from outside of Germany. Originally the lot included around two dozen watercolour paintings that had been attributed to the Nazi leader but when doubts arose concerning their providence and authorship the auction house removed them from the sale. German prosecutors on Thursday seized some 63 paintings from the Weidler bearing Hitler's initials or signature on the grounds they were thought to be forgeries. The seized canvasses included several that were not intended to be sold at the Sunday auction. The far-right Austrian was an avid amateur painter, and the sale of his works continues to spark both interest and outrage in equal measure. Hitler ruled Germany between 1933 and 1945 and started World War II in 1939. The war ended in 1945 and destroying the Nazi regime. Hitler's Nazi Germany persecuted dissidents and the Jewish community in Germany and beyond with a policy of genocide that murdered some 6million people. It is thought between 15 and 20 million people were imprisoned or died in Nazi concentration and extermination camps between 1933-1945. The auction took place in the German city that hosted the trials of leading Nazi war criminals between 1945 and 1946 after Germany lost World War II.

Adolf Hitler definitely died in 1945 in Berlin, from taking cyanide and a bullet, according to French researchers who were given rare access to fragments of the dictator's teeth held in Moscow.

"The teeth are authentic, there is no possible doubt. Our study proves that Hitler died in 1945," professor Philippe Charlier said.

"We can stop all the conspiracy theories about Hitler. He did not flee to Argentina in a submarine, he is not in a hidden base in Antarctica or on the dark side of the moon," Charlier said.

The study, which Charlier co-authored with four other researchers, was published Friday in the scientific magazine European Journal of Internal Medicine.

The analysis of Hitler's bad teeth and numerous dentures found white tartar deposits and no traces of meat fibre -- the dictator was vegetarian, Charlier said.

In March and July 2017, Russia's secret service the FSB and the Russian state archives authorised a team of researchers to examine the bones of the dictator, for the first time since 1946, he said.

The French team was able to look at a skull fragment presented as being from the Fuhrer, which showed a hole on the left side which was in all probability caused by the passage of a bullet.

The scientists were not authorised to take samples from this fragment.

As it stands, the fragment's morphology was "totally comparable" to radiographies of Hitler's skull taken a year before his death, the research found.

If this study confirms the generally accepted view that Hitler died on the 30 April, 1945, in his Berlin bunker with his companion Eva Braun, it does also shed new light on the exact causes of death, Charlier said.

"We didn't know if he had used an ampule of cyanide to kill himself or whether it was a bullet in the head. It's in all probability both," he said.

A theatre group in Germany will be proceeding with a satirical play on Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and has asked all its guests to wear swastikas to watch the play.&nbsp;

The southern Germany theatre group will stage a play about Hitler's youth wherein some patrons will sport swastika armbands.

The Konstanz Theatre's production will enact an adaption of George Tabori's world-renowned "Mein Kampf". The play will run for a month starting today, on the day of Hitler's 129th birth anniversary.

The play, named after Hitler's infamous anti-Semitic manifesto, tells a fictional story about Hitler's friendship with a Jewish man who put&nbsp;him on his political path.

Patrons who will wear a swastika armband will be given free admittance to the play. The ones who will buy the tickets will be asked to wear a Jewish Star of David.

The experiment, according to theatre manager Christoph Nix, will bring to light and initiate a dialogue over issues like corruption and racism.

Austria on Monday marks the 80th anniversary of its annexation by Nazi Germany, with the country&#39;s President Alexander Van der Bellen urging young people not to be &quot;taken in&quot; by neo-fascist and far-right ideologies.

On March 12, 1938, Adolf Hitler ordered 200,000 soldiers, SS officers and police to invade Austria, his native country, subsequently declaring its &quot;Anschluss&quot; or annexation by the Third Reich.&nbsp;

A &quot;Day of Commemoration&quot; will be held on Monday to mark the events of 1938 that changed the course of Austrian history and served as a prelude to World War II.&nbsp;Asked in an interview with the Kurier daily what future generations could learn from the Anschluss, van der Bellen replied: &quot;Not to be taken in.&quot;

People should not take &quot;peaceful cohabitation, co-determination and stable political conditions for granted,&quot; he warned. &quot;These things can change.&quot;&nbsp;

Van der Bellen -- a former leader of the environmentalist Greens who in late 2016 beat an anti-immigration candidate in a polarising and nail-biting presidential election -- said minorities enjoy better protection today.&nbsp;

&quot;They can&#39;t be outlawed at the stroke of a pen as they could then by a majority. If that weren&#39;t the case, the state could be immediately turned into a tyranny of the majority, as happened back then.&quot;&nbsp;

Van der Bellen has repeatedly called for vigilance and for tolerance since a coalition government took power in December, headed by the 31-year-old conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, with the leader of the far-right Freedom Party (FPOe), Heinz-Christian Strache, as his deputy.&nbsp;

The FPOe, which counts former Nazis among its founders, is the oldest of the major right-wing nationalist and anti-immigration groupings currently on the rise in the European Union.

FPOe politicians have repeatedly rejected neo-Nazism, racism and anti-Semitism since the party joined the ruling coalition.&nbsp;The party has also expressed its gratitude to &quot;the Republic of Austria, democracy, parliamentarism and the rule of law&quot;.

But the FPOe&#39;s position regarding the status of the Austrian state has long been ambiguous, with a strong current within the party -- particularly among student fraternities -- viewing Austria as part of a wider pan-German or &quot;Greater German&quot; identity.&nbsp;

Appearing on Austrian television alongside other leading politicians for the Anschluss commemorations, Strache said it was everyone&#39;s individual responsibility to remember &quot;the National Socialist (Nazi) terror regime that murdered people on a large scale because of their religion, their origin and their political opinions.&quot;&nbsp;

But since it joined the ruling coalition, the FPOe has found itself embroiled in a string of embarrassing controversies regarding its relationship to Austria&#39;s history.&nbsp;In January, for example, a leading FPOe candidate in regional elections quit the party because of a scandal over song lyrics praising the Holocaust.&nbsp;

While Strache has been keen to clean up his party&#39;s image, other incidents have tarnished it, such as one FPOe member of parliament who declared in 2006 on television that &quot;National Socialism also had its good sides&quot;.&nbsp;Many events marking the Anchluss anniversary feature eyewitnesses of the time, while public debates will focus on the responsibility of Austria and everyday Austrians in Hitler&#39;s seizure of power.&nbsp;

Talking about such issues in public was almost unheard of until the late 1980s, as Austria preferred to hide behind the status of Nazi victim that the Allies had officially conferred on it.&nbsp;Such denial has prevented Austria from embarking on the very painful &quot;Vergangenheitsbewaeltigung&quot; or self-examination and coming to terms with the past that Germany has undertaken.

Austrian conservatives began paving the way for Nazism as early as 1933 when they put an end to parliamentary democracy, then crushed the Social Democrats in 1934 and set up a one-party regime.&nbsp;In a country in the throes of an identity crisis following the disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and in full economic slump, anti-Semitism flourished as early as the 1920s.

&quot;Everything had already long been ready by the time the Nazis arrived,&quot; Kitty Suschny -- who was just 13 in 1938 -- told a conference, recalling that a ban on &quot;dogs and Jews&quot; was imposed overnight in the grounds of Vienna&#39;s Schoenbrunn Palace.&nbsp;

The persecution of Jews began in the early hours of the Anschluss.&nbsp;And on March 15, a euphoric crowd greeted Hitler in Vienna.&nbsp;An artistic installation will be unveiled Monday at the site where the dictator made his first speech after the annexation of the country.

On Wednesday, Chancellor Kurz will ask his cabinet to approve a proposal for a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust to be erected in the centre of Vienna.&nbsp;
