The government reported in the Lok Sabha on Friday that twenty-eight Indian students were deported from the United States to India this year. According to V Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs, the US authorities have been notified on a regular basis of the government's concerns on these kinds of incidents.

Out of these bodies, 88 were identified but families were unable to travel to the morgues to claim the bodies due to the prevailing tense situation.&nbsp;

“No decision has been taken yet on the date and place of burials for those bodies brought to Churachandpur. The last rites will most probably be held next week,” Ginza Vualzong from Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), a Kuki organisation based in Churachandpur, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The hydrographic survey agreement, inked on June 8, 2019, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Maldives, permitted India to conduct a comprehensive study of the island nation's territorial waters, encompassing reefs, lagoons, coastlines, ocean currents, and tide levels.

The third Joint Hydrographic survey by the Indian Navy and the MNDF was carried out by the Indian Naval Ship Investigator (INS Investigator) from January 19 to February 26, 2023. The ship surveyed Northern Maldives covering Ihavandhippolhu and Thiladhanmatee atolls and Gallandhu Kandu.

As per an official release, the first Joint Hydrographic survey was carried out by INS Darshak in February/March 2021 and the second joint survey was carried out by INS Sutlej in April/ May 2022.

Regarding the termination of the deal, Mohamed Firuzul Abdul Khaleel, Undersecretary for Public Policy at the Maldives President’s Office, announced the decision at a press conference, stating that the government opted not to renew the hydrography agreement set to expire on June 7, 2024.

He said that India has been officially informed of the Maldives' decision, adhering to the agreement's stipulated terms.

Firuzul explained, "According to the terms of this agreement, if one party wishes to drop the agreement, the other party must be informed of the decision six months before the agreement is set to expire. According to the terms, the agreement automatically renews for an additional five years, otherwise."

An undertrial prisoner Abhishek Kumar, also popular as Chote Sarkar, was shot and killed on Friday (Dec 15) by two assailants in the north Indian state of Bihar.&nbsp;

Kumar who was an inmate of Beur Central Jail in Patna, was brought in by the police in Patna's Danapur court when the incident happened.&nbsp;

Taking to social media platform X, the Patna district police said, "Abhishek Singh alias Chote Sarkar was attacked by two armed assailants in Danapur court premises on Friday when he was being escorted to a trial court from the lock-up. Both the assailants, who tried to escape, were caught by the police."&nbsp;

Despite concerted efforts by the government and insurance regulatory authorities, the report brings out the urgent need for comprehensive reforms to bridge this massive insurance gap.<o:p></o:p>

Irdai Chairman Debasish Panda, unveiling the report, urged the insurance industry to draw inspiration from the successes of initiatives like UPI, the widespread opening of bank accounts, and increased mobile penetration. Panda emphasised the necessity of a compulsory natural calamity insurance scheme for high-risk regions, a recommendation highlighted in the report. <o:p></o:p>

Such measures, he believes, are crucial for achieving the ambitious goal of ensuring insurance coverage for all citizens by the time India celebrates its centenary as a republic.<o:p></o:p>

The report pointed out that 84 per cent of people in low- and middle-income categories, along with 77 per cent residing in coastal regions, tier-2, and tier-3 cities, lack property insurance. With a rising number of natural calamities and climate-related disasters impacting the nation, the need for increased coverage becomes even more pressing.<o:p></o:p>

Furthermore, the report advocates for mandatory crop insurance for farmers who have availed bank loans, with support from microfinance institutions and agri-input suppliers. Presently, the annuity and pension protection gap stands at a high of 93 per cent, presenting a significant area for improvement. Irdai Chairman Debasish Panda, unveiling the report, urged the insurance industry to draw inspiration from the successes of initiatives like UPI, the widespread opening of bank accounts, and increased mobile penetration. Panda emphasised the necessity of a compulsory natural calamity insurance scheme for high-risk regions, a recommendation highlighted in the report. Such measures, he believes, are crucial for achieving the ambitious goal of ensuring insurance coverage for all citizens by the time India celebrates its centenary as a republic. The report pointed out that 84 per cent of people in low- and middle-income categories, along with 77 per cent residing in coastal regions, tier-2, and tier-3 cities, lack property insurance. With a rising number of natural calamities and climate-related disasters impacting the nation, the need for increased coverage becomes even more pressing. Furthermore, the report advocates for mandatory crop insurance for farmers who have availed bank loans, with support from microfinance institutions and agri-input suppliers. The people who took&nbsp;coloured smoke canisters and opened them inside while the session was ongoing were chanting slogans of 'tanashahi nahin chalegi' (dictatorship will not prevail). While the entire country watched this commotion erupt inside the Indian Parliament,&nbsp;attention quickly shifted to the looming question - how did this major security breach end up happening in broad daylight on December 13?&nbsp;

The intrusion involved the individuals jumping into the Lok Sabha from the public gallery, releasing yellow-coloured smoke canisters and&nbsp;causing panic among MPs. A man and a woman protesting outside the Parliament building were also shortly detained.

The visitor passes which were utilised by two of the intruders were what allowed them entry inside the Parliament in the first place. They then managed to enter the new Parliament building and create mayhem as the MPs were busy with the day's proceedings in the current winter session.&nbsp;

<h2>Who is Pratap Simha, the MP in whose name the visitor pass was issued?&nbsp;</h2>

The visitor pass was issued in the name of Pratap Simha. He is a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representing Mysuru in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP from Amroha in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Danish Ali, who was suspended by then-President Mayawati days ago, shared an image of the visitor pass under scrutiny. This is the same pass which ended up granting the intruders access to the Lok Sabha.

Pratap Simha, a 42-year-old MP from Mysuru, Karnataka, won the Mysuru constituency with 43.46 per cent of votes in 2014. His vote share increased to 52.27 per cent in the 2019 elections.

Reports suggested that Simha is a former journalist and he gained recognition for his columns. He also authored a biography of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2007.

Simha is the son of a farmer and he is seen expressing admiration for Indian PM Modi.&nbsp;

One of the intruders, identified as Manoranjan D, is a Mysuru-based engineer. He is known to Simha. The individual reportedly frequented Simha's office.

Manoranjan D also introduced his friend, another individual who entered the Indian Parliament, Sagar Sharma, to the BJP MP. They sought passes from&nbsp;Simha&nbsp;by saying that they wanted to see the new Indian Parliament building.
