Tripathi said that law enforcement isn’t fair and the police in the lower ranks are biased.&nbsp;

"There is law and order problem in the state. Violence is taking place every day, throughout the state for some reason," he said. "There should not be any discrimination in implementing law and order," Tripathi stated adding that the violence is because of the immigration from across the border.&nbsp;

"The chief minister started blaming a particular political party for it, forgetting that it was created from the within," he told WION.&nbsp;

<div class="videoWrapper trancodeVideo">Calling Aparna Sen’s activism “fraudulent”, Tripathi said some people are wrongly trying to malign the image of the country. On being asked why electoral and political violence remains rampant in Bengal, Tripathi said that it’s because of Rohingya and illegal immigrants. He added that NRC should be introduced in the state and Bengal will benefit from it.&nbsp;</div>

"People have welcomed NRC, it is only hue and very by certain political parties," he said.&nbsp;

The outgoing governor also spoke about <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/poll-debacle-mamata-banerjee-holds-10-trinamool-congress-meet-after-lok-sabha-poll-drubbing-235443">Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee</a> not taking his calls, or even <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/i-bow-my-head-to-brave-soldiers-says-pm-modi-in-tribute-to-kargil-bravehearts-238885">PM Modi</a>'s for that matter. He slammed the media for “wrongly reporting” that he had submitted a 48-page report to the Centre. Tripathi said he “did not submit even a 48-word report.” He refused to confirm or deny if the imposition of President’s rule was ever recommended.&nbsp;

Speaking about Mamata Banerjee’s “politics of appeasement”, he said that the 'Jai Shri Ram' comment was wrong and unfortunate and that the Trinamool Congress chief said what she did only to attract a certain constituency.&nbsp;

Youth Bar Association of India (YBAI) has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking direction for framing guidelines to protect the identity, reputation and integrity of individual(s) allegedly accused of sexual offences till completion of the investigation.

The petition, filed by lawyers Sanpreet Singh Ajmani and Kuldeep Rai, will come up for hearing on July 29.

The allegation of sexual harassment tarnishes the image, repute and goodwill of such person in the society and it adversely affects his entire life in all terms, even if, at later point of time he (accused) is found to be innocent, YBAI stated in its petition.

The petition, a copy of which has been accessed by ANI, also states that now it's high time that certain guidelines must also be formulated to protect the integrity of the person alleged to have committed such crime.

The petition further suggested directions may also be issued to the media (Print, Electronic and Social) to not to disclose the identity of such person until and unless such crime is investigated by the competent agency.

"It is well settled that a person is presumed to be innocent until he is proven guilty but so much so, nowadays, the moment an allegation of such nature is levelled and it is published in the media, the person loses his integrity in the society," the petition stated.

"That person also suffers a loss of his hard-earned repute, image and goodwill in the society, which cannot be compensated in any manner whatsoever," it added.&nbsp;

Speaking to reporters here, Siddaramaiah said BJP does not have a majority in the Assembly, despite which Yediyurappa took oath as Chief Minister.

On being asked whether rebel MLAs are coming back to Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said, "I do not know when they are coming back. Who has remanded them? If they had attended the vote of confidence, Kumaraswamy's government would have survived."

A Delhi Court on Saturday granted interim protection to Ratul Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, from arrest till July 29 in connection with AgustaWestland money laundering case.

The court has also asked Puri to join the investigation at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office today.

Puri on Saturday moved a Delhi court and applied for an anticipatory bail in connection with the alleged scam relating to the purchase of 12 VVIP helicopters from AgustaWestland amounting to Rs 3,600 crore.

This came after the ED summoned Puri earlier in the day for questioning in connection with the alleged scam, ED officials told ANI.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi and advocate Vijay Aggarwal appeared for Ratul Puri. Singhvi argued that ED is allegedly hampering Puri's reputation and business and termed it a "political vengeance".

"Friday some political event happened and on Saturday they want to arrest me as I am a blood relative of an opposition leader. What is this," pleaded Puri through his counsel Singhvi.

Ratul's lawyer also defended the 'absconding story'. "I (Ratul Puri) had written to them that I cannot appear before them as I am travelling. I still went there to show my bona fide. I go out to eat lunch or something and I learn that the ED has reached my house and harassing my family. ED has cooked up the harassment story."

Ratul's lawyer argued that if the ED doesn't want to arrest him, the why did ED land at his place at 8 pm. There is CCTV footage as proof.

Advocate Naveen Kumar Matta, the counsel of ED, opposed the anticipatory bail plea and sought the adjournment of the matter for Monday as bail copy didn't serve to them on time.

In December last year, businessman Christian Michel, an alleged middleman in the deal, was extradited to India from Dubai. He is at present lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail.

The deal with Italy-based Finmeccanica's British subsidiary AgustaWestland for purchase of 12 VVIP choppers was scrapped by India on January 1, 2014, over alleged breach of contractual obligations and charges of payment of kickbacks to the tune of Rs 423 crore for securing the deal.

ED has cooked up the harassment story." Ratul's lawyer argued that if the ED doesn't want to arrest him, the why did ED land at his place at 8 pm.

Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on Friday promoted <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/kargil-war-shepherd-who-informed-indian-army-of-pakistan-infiltration-still-awaits-recognition-238499">Kargil war</a> hero Satpal Singh to the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector from Senior Constable.

Satpal Singh, who joined Punjab Police in 2010 after his discharge from the Army, has been promoted to the new post after the chief minister authorised the DGP to grant the required relaxation in age for the promotion.

Singh, who has been managing traffic as a senior constable in the state police, was given the double promotion after chief minister read a news report about him on Friday morning.

"Within hours of discovering that a hero of the Kargil war was managing traffic as a mere senior constable, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday ordered an immediate double promotion for the Vir Chakra awardee, whose credentials were completely ignored by the erstwhile SAD-BJP government at the time of his recruitment in 2010," read a statement issued by the Punjab government.

"As a special case, Satpal will be recruited as an Assistant Sub Inspector, in relaxation of Rule 12.3 of Punjab Police Rules by the DGP, who has been so authorized by the Chief Minister," the statement added.

Satpal Singh is Vir Chakra awardee who served as an Army captain during the 1965 India-Pakistan war. He was part of India's Operation Vijay and one of the important figures in the Battle of Tiger Hill which took place between India and Pakistan during the Kargil war in 1999. He killed Pakistani army Capt Karnal Sher Khan and three others during close encounters.

Singh had earlier complained that apathy of the government forced him to "salute" people who were junior in rank and position to him. "I am forced to salute people who are junior to me in rank and position. I was not given the appropriate rank by the Punjab police due to which I working as a traffic constable," Singh told news agency ANI.
