BJP will hold an intense training programme of two days for all its Members of Parliament in Delhi to train and sensitise them on the issues related to parliamentary practice, ideology and party.

The importance of this meeting lies in the fact that the training session would give clarity to MPs on crucial ideological issues which are important to BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend Abhyas Varg on both days and is expected to speak at the event as well.

Sources also said that speakers from outside may also address the party MPs. Strict instructions have been sent from the organization that it should not be given a miss at all.

The programme is expected to start at 9 am and would finish at 9 pm. MPs will have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the venue of the training session itself.

Though details of the programme have not been officially released by the party the exercise is to ensure that certain basics of being a Member of Parliament, minister and organizational position holder are made clear to everyone in the party.

This is in contrast to all the major Opposition parties who hold a great public commitment to a certain ideology in public domain do very little to train their MPs when it comes to ideological commitment and responsibility towards parliament and the party.

In this case, BJP has charted a different course and has continued with a vigorous training programme for its elected representatives. Abhyas Varg will be organized in the Parliament for the BJP MPs.

A man from Kerala, who joined the Islamic State (ISIS) in October 2017, reportedly died in an American drone strike in Afghanistan on July 18.

According to sources, Muhammad Muhasin, a resident of Edappal town in Malappuram district in Kerala died along with Huzaifa-al-Bakistani, a key commander of the Islamic State in the Khorosan province of Afghanistan.

Bakistani was a highly trained Pakistani terrorist, who radicalised several Indian youths.

The news of Muhammad Muhasin`s death was communicated to his family in Kerala via a WhatsApp message from an unidentified number from Afghanistan.

The text in the Malayalam language said, "Your brother was seeking martyrdom. Allah has fulfilled his wish as per his aspiration. He was martyred 10 days ago in a drone attack by the American forces".

"Please do not reveal this to the police, otherwise they will come to your home and start bothering you. Your brother doesn`t want this", the message read.

Several people from the state, both men and women, have joined ISIS over the last few years. According to government data, accessed by ANI, the majority of people who have joined ISIS from Kerala are from the Kannur city of the state.

As on June 15, nearly 40 people including eight women, from Kannur, have joined the ISIS.

The data further reveals that over the last few years 98 people from Kerala joined the Islamic State, out of which 38 were killed and 60 are still alive and fighting for the terrorist organisation.

Besides Kannur, some misguided people from Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Eranakulam and Thrissur have joined ISIS.

A majority of them were influenced by ISIS through social media. According to sources, most of the pro-ISIS accounts of Malayalee groups are operated from the Gulf countries.

These groups specifically target Muslims from Kerala. The ISIS, which has made inroads in southern India, could potentially extend support to several radical groups like it did in Sri Lanka.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday sought businessman Ratul Puri`s custody, asserting that he is trying to influence the witnesses in the AgustaWestland case.

During the proceeding, special public prosecutor DP Singh, appearing on behalf of the law enforcement agency, told Judge Arvind Kumar that Puri has been stonewalling and has not yet said anything during the probe.

"Sushen Mohan Gupta`s, another accused in the case, diary records show that money was given to Puri. There are 100 mails to show that. His people are talking of dealing in cash authorised by him and that cash is huge," said Singh, seeking the custodial interrogation to dig into the claims.

The ED counsel said that Puri is not reachable for the last two days and his phone is switched off.

Asserting that Puri is not cooperating with the ED, Singh said that he is denying everything for which the agency has the proof.

"We also have a proof that Ratul Puri, while conversing with the approver Rajiv Saxena, used to refer the word `thin man` and `fat man` for himself and Sushen Mohan Gupta, respectively," he said.

Singh contended that both the ED and CBI are soon going to file a charge sheet, which would change the course of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the court extended the interim protection from arrest granted to Puri till tomorrow.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who also appeared for Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, said: "My client is not on flight risk... There is no authentic information of evidence tempering."

"After Saturday`s court direction Ratul Puri was called on Saturday and Sunday also. He has been called 25 times. He has shown cooperation, but after calling him so many time, the agency is still harassing him," said Singhvi.

The case pertains to alleged irregularities in purchase of 12 VVIP choppers for Italy-based Finmeccanica`s British subsidiary AgustaWestland.

The deal was scrapped by the NDA government in 2014 over the alleged breach of contractual obligations and charges of payment of kickbacks for securing the deal.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) supremo Raj Thackeray on Wednesday met West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee and discussed use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections.

He invited the TMC supremo to attend a 'morcha' (protest) in Mumbai. "I came to meet her on the issue of use of EVMs in polls. I've invited her for a 'morcha' in Mumbai. She told me that her party is committed towards saving democracy. She said, "Main hun, aisa samajh lena," he told reporters after the meeting.

Thackeray arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday.

Opposition parties had accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by tampering EVM machines.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had rejected opposition's accusation, saying that EVMs are tamper-proof and can't be hacked.

Mamata Banerjee was one of the earliest interlocutors of the united opposition. All like-minded anti-BJP parties had come under one umbrella to take on the saffron party in the Lok Sabha polls.

In June, Mamata had asked all the Opposition parties to come together and demand the return of ballot papers. "I ask all the 23 political parties in the opposition to come together and demand the return of ballot papers. We must raise our voices. Even a country like the US has banned EVMs," Banerjee said.

BJP returned to power with a thumping majority securing 303 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday said that if we can make the young generation of India to be happy, we can reduce the number of litigations in the country.

Speaking at the 'Happiness Education Conference' of the Delhi government, Gogoi said youths were unhappy and feel dejected, so having such an initiative was important.

"We go to school to learn something, be it History, Geography, Science, Maths etc, but what is the point behind gaining knowledge if we stay negative and unhappy? We won`t be able to contribute. Hence, a happiness curriculum has been introduced in the schools of Delhi. India as a country needs it." said Gogoi in his speech during the conference.

"As the Chief Justice of the country, I was thinking yesterday that if I have a happy lot of people in this country, my problem of litigation will be over. There will be no cases because everybody is happy," he added.

"And I have seriously thought about it, perhaps we can have something like happiness classes in our judicial academies also; without happiness, education can never be complete," said Gogoi.

CJI believes that happiness is not something that can be imbibed but it's a result of deep reflection. So many good and bad things happen to us every day, we should be thankful that at least one good thing happened to us during the entire day.

According to Gogoi, there is a serious problem with the young generation today, they are a dejected lot. They are unhappy by seeing what is happening around us. Hence, the happiness curriculum is the need of the hour in schools.
