As the Modi government 2.0 completes 100 days in office on Saturday, the BJP leadership would be connecting with the people to make them aware of the "historic" decisions made in the short period.

The leaders will carry the message of the government on matters ranging from "strong nationalistic" and security-related decisions like defanging of Article 370 and acquisition of the United States made Apache helicopters to people-centric decisions like pension for farmers and shopkeepers.

"From telling people how buying American Apache helicopters made Pakistan and China nervous, nullification of Article 370 to the Parliament`s most productive monsoon session -- all will be listed out as government`s achievements. The merger of banks to stabilise the economy is one of the few important points for the discussions, " said a senior party leader who is involved in finalising the points.

There would be special emphasis on spreading awareness on the triple talaq law which aims to abolish the social evil prevalent in the society.

The party would also highlight the passing of the tough UAPA anti-terror law.

Sources said that BJP leaders, including ministers, would ensure that all decisions taken by the government are brought to public notice.

The leaders would be addressing a slew of press conferences and public meeting as part of the endeavour, sources said.

Several top ministers would be addressing their share if interactive sessions next week.

The fact that Parliament enacted several laws and worked overtime during the recently concluded monsoon session would also be highlighted.

Other issues that are likely to be highlighted include the launch of Mission Fit India, the establishment of Jal Shakti Ministry and the National Medical Commission, and merger of banks.

A BJP delegation that visited China recently has conveyed to the Communist Party leaders that trade relations between the two countries may be affected if the neighbouring country does not change its stand on issues "sensitive" to India.

During their visit to various provinces of China, the 10-member delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party had conveyed to the Communist Party leaders the need for checking the narrative that China stands with Pakistan on issues sensitive to India.

Speaking to ANI, Arun Singh, National General Secretary of BJP said that extensive discussions from trade to party ideologies took place.

However, the most vital among them was China`s stated affinity towards Pakistan.

"We told them when we use their products at home we become emotionally attached to them as well. But if the sentiment that you stand with the neighbouring country on issues sensitive to us prevails, then eventually it is bound to hurt the trade relations between two countries. If we see you siding with the neighbouring country, it hurts the sentiment of country and the trade between the two countries." he said.

Besides Singh, the delegation comprised foreign cell in-charge Vijay Chauthaiwale, Gopal Krishan Aggarwal, spokesperson, -Shiv Kumar Udasi, Suresh Pujari, Mahesh Poddar, Ramesh Shejwalkar and Raksha Khadse (all MPs) and some other party members.

They also discussed export of agricultural product especially soya, rice and sugar by China.

The BJP delegation also raised concerns about fiscal deficit and said it is a challenge.

"There are ways to cover this deficit through technology transfer, integrating MSME through the supply chain. FDI, transfer of technology and development of MSME and integrate into Chinese global chain. We raised concerns about visa norms and China`s stand on terrorism. As a political dispensation, we need to raise public concerns as well, " Aggarwal said.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had visited China where the concerns about territorial claims of Aksai Chin were addressed.

The Supreme Court on Friday came down heavily on AAP government in Delhi for its decision to give free metro rides to women in the national capital, asserting that it would make Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) an "unprofitable venture".

"Why you (Delhi government) are trying to give a free ride to women in metro trains? If you give a free ride to women, the DMRC will become an unprofitable venture," said a bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta.

In June earlier this year, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had proposed free ride for women on all DTC buses, cluster buses and Delhi Metro trains. He had said that the proposal will be implemented within two to three months based on the feedback and suggestions from the public.

The Delhi Cabinet is yet to give its assent to the scheme.

The bench told the state government to properly use public money and refrain from giving free sops to people.

The apex court`s observation came on a petition filed by advocate M C Mehta with respect to the expansion of the fourth phase of the metro project in the state.

Taking cognizance of the petition, the court directed the Central and Delhi government to work out modalities and release Rs 2,447.19 crore of land cost for Phase IV metro within a week. It also asked the Centre to bear 50 per cent of the cost of the land for this purpose.

On March 8 earlier this year, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved three of the six corridors proposed under Phase-IV of the Delhi Metro.

The Phase-IV project consists of six corridors -- Aerocity to Tughlakabad, Inderlok to Indraprastha, Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, Mukundpur to Maujpur, Janakpuri West to R K Ashram and Rithala to Bawana and Narela, with a total length of 103.93 kilometres.

After the completion of Phase-IV, the total length of Delhi`s mass rapid transit system in the Delhi-NCR region would be approximately 453.58 kilometres.

He further added that the former was done by PSLV while in Chandrayaan-1 the scientists were using GSLV Mk III, meaning the current had more payload capability.

A total number of 38 soft landing attempts on the moon have been made by the space agencies so far with a success rate of 52 per cent.

Chandrayaan-2 is India's first attempt at soft-landing on the surface of the moon. This mission will make India the fourth country after the US, Russia, and China to conduct a soft landing on the moon.

Here is how Chandrayaan-2 is different from Chandrayaan-1.

Earlier, India had conducted a moon mission in 2008 with Chandrayaan-1. According to ISRO website, Chandrayaan-1 was launched by India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C11 on October 22, 2008, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh`s Sriharikota.

The spacecraft made more than 3400 orbits around the moon. Chandrayaan-1 was operational for 312 days till August 29, 2009. The lift-off mass of Chandrayaan-1 was 1380 kg while Chandrayaan-2 weighs 3850 kg.

Chandrayaan-1 conclusively discovered traces of water on the moon. This was a path-breaking discovery. Chandrayaan-1 also discovered water ice in the North polar region of the Moon. It also detected Magnesium, Aluminium and Silicon on the lunar surface. Global imaging of the moon was another achievement of this mission.

On the other hand, the Chandryaan-2 is different from the earlier moon mission because it will attempt to soft-land its Vikram module on the lunar surface and deploy a six-wheeled Rover, Pragyaan on the moon to carry out several scientific experiments.

Chandrayaan-2 aims to widen the scientific objectives of Chandrayaan-1 by way of soft landing on the Moon and deploying a rover to study the lunar surface. The mission life of Orbiter will be one year whereas the mission life of lander (Vikram) and rover (Pragyan) will be one Lunar day which is equal to fourteen earth days.

After revolving around the Earth`s orbit for nearly 23 days, the craft began its journey to the moon on August 14. The mission took off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on July 22.

India's second mission to the moon was approved by the cabinet in September 2008, just before the launch of Chandrayaan 1.

If the mission is successful, it will be yet another feather in the cap for ISRO whose reputation in this field has grown exponentially.

(With inputs from ANI)

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday thanked the Central government for its efforts to curb pollution in the national capital.

The Chief Minister, in particular, pointed out the construction of Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressway saying that it has led to a decline in trucks coming inside Delhi, consequently leading to a reduction in pollution levels.

"This (reduction in pollution levels) has not been only due to the efforts of the Delhi government. I want to thank all the agencies involved in the efforts. This has been due to efforts of the Delhi government. We want to thank the Central government for their efforts, MCDs for their efforts. The Supreme Court passed so many orders which we followed religiously," the Chief Minister said while addressing a press conference.

He also thanked the people of Delhi for supporting the efforts to combat pollution.

"The construction of Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressway is one of the reasons for the decline in pollution. Apart from this, environmental compensation charges were levied. So, trucks began to use roads outside Delhi. The number of trucks entering Delhi reduced by 30 per cent due to Eastern Peripheral Expressway," he said.

Terming it a "big number", the Chief Minister said, "This is a big number. I think the numbers would be even higher for Western Peripheral. Both of these have been constructed by the Central government and we would like to thank them on behalf of people of Delhi for this.

"Earlier, the Chief Minister had announced that pollution in Delhi has reduced by 25 per cent in the last three years.

Vikram has the capability to communicate with Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) at Byalalu near Bangalore, as well as with the orbiter and rover. While the Lander weighing 1,471 kg is designed to execute a soft landing on the lunar surface, the Rover, a 6-wheeled robotic vehicle named Pragyan, can travel up to 500 m and it leverages solar energy for its functioning.

It can only communicate with the Lander, which was separated from the orbiter on September 2 at 1.15 pm, entering a descending orbit around the Moon.

Pragyan is housed inside the Lander Vikram and it will roll out and deliver scientific payloads to conduct surface and subsurface experiments.

The lander is expected to touch down near the South Pole of the Moon in the early hours of Saturday morning.

With this, India will become the first country to land close to the lunar South Pole on its first attempt.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be at the ISRO around midnight to watch the event.

India on Wednesday shared the evidence of vandalisation of the Indian high commission property by Pakistani diaspora in London during the anti-India protest that happened on Tuesday.

India on Wednesday shared the evidence of vandalisation of the Indian high commission property by Pakistani diaspora in London during the anti-India protest that happened on Tuesday. Indian High Commissioner Ruchi Ghanashyam met Director General (DG) of UK Foreign office and raised the matter of violent protest outside the High Commission. DG said "physical damage to High Commission property was completely unacceptable" adding, "safety and security of all diplomatic missions and their staff are of upmost concern to the UK." India had strongly reacted to the second major protest within one month to happen in front of the Indian mission in London. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in a statement said, "We consider these incidents to be unacceptable and have strongly urged the Government of UK to take action against those involved." Meanwhile, following Tuesday's protests, two people have been arrested by the UK's Metropolitan Police. The protestors had thrown objects at the Indian mission leading to damage to the property. Vandalism at Indian Mission in London: India shows evidence to UK

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Malaysian PM Mahathir bin Mohamad met on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok during which the former raised the issue of Zakir Naik's extradition and also discussed the need for legislative changes to Jammu and Kashmir.

Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, "PM Modi raised the issue of Zakir Naik and both sides decided that officials will keep in touch regarding it and it's an important issue for New Delhi".

New Delhi has sent an extradition request to Malaysia but no action has been taken by Kuala Lumpur. India-born Zakir Naik is wanted in India and is known for his hate speeches. In 2017, India had revoked his passport and declared him an offender. He currently resides in Malaysia which has given him a PR-Permanent Resident status. There is now growing criticism of Naik in Malaysia as well where he has been involved in hate speeches against minority Hindu population.

Removing the special status for Jammu and Kashmir was another key point that was discussed. "The rationale behind the reorganisation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir" will give "effective governance and socio-economic" development to the region, the prime minister told his Malaysian counterpart.

Terror was also discussed and "how to cope with the growing global terror". Mahathir acknowledged that "terror is a global problem" and "terrorism in any form is something Malaysia is against", Gokhale said.

It is also a driving force behind the investment of new technologies. Russia is ready in partnership with all other countries to invest in large scale projects.

WION: What trends do you see between Russia and India on energy security?

Novak: India and Russia are strategic longstanding partners. Right, now we are in at a new stage of the relationship between the two countries because the leaders of the two countries have set forth new ambitious goals. Both Prime Minister Modi and President Putin are committed to promoting close relationship in the energy field which is the backbone of our interaction.

WION: Is, energy the new bulwark between India Russia relationship?

Novak: Energy is the backbone of trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries including the participation and implementation of Sakhalin 1 project. In the last couple of years, a large number of big projects have been implemented including investments of the Indian companies into the production of oil in Russia. I'm referring to one core field Tassurik field besides Rosneft which invested 12 billion dollars in the acquisition of Essar company in India. New large-scale projects have been implemented as well. India is involved in the production and marketing of gas.

WION: India is looking forward to cooperation IN nuclear field and gas. Do you think gas production has also become one of the driving forces between THE two countries?

Novak: India is already a big consumer of Russian gas. There is joint participation with Gasprom. Last year, it supplied 1 million tons of LNG to India. This year Novatek has signed a memorandum of cooperation for the marketing of LNG with two Indian companies. We are always happy to see Indian companies participate in the development of LNG in Russia in the context of the construction of energy plants since it is the strategic goal of the Russian federation.

WION: Can India-Russia relationship be taken to the next level now?

Novak: I'm in close contact with my colleague Dharmendra Pradhan in India. On August 29 he was in Moscow and we had an opportunity to compare the implementation of key and large-scale projects in Russia so that we can achieve goals put forward by the leaders of both countries. On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, three documents were signed between the ministries of both the countries. The first document to be signed was a programme of cooperation in the area of oil and gas. The second one was on the promotion of gas motor fuel in India and the third was the cooperation of two countries in the power sector. These are mainstream directions in which we are going to move forward.

WION: Do you feel that chemistry between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin has redefined Russia-India relationship?

Novak: Indeed, the relations between the two countries have reached high-level thanks to the personal touch established by Prime Minister Modi and President Putin. In this economic forum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is our main guest. On Wednesday, both the leaders had a productive meeting. It was very positive. It will give new impetus to the promotion of bilateral ties between both the countries.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues with his Russia trip with the focus on strengthening bilateral partnership, WION's Kartikeya Sharma spoke with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
