<p>India women created history on Sunday (July 21) with their first ever 200-plus total in a T20I game. Harmanpreet Kaur-led team finished at 201/5 against UAE Women in the ongoing Asia Cup and registered a thumping 78-run victory.</p>

<p>India's previous highest score in a women T20I was 198/4 against England in 2018. This is also India's highest total in Women's Asia Cup history - going past their own best of 181/4 against Malaysia in 2022.</p>

<p>For India, Deepti Sharma took 2/23 while Renuka Singh, debutant Tanuja Kanwar, Pooja Vastrakar and Radha Yadav picked one wicket each. India eventually restricted UAE to 123/7 in 20 overs.</p>

<p>Nayar will join the Indian team on their way to Sri Lanka on Monday as he is in the financial capital training with the Mumbai Ranji team as part of the pre-season. He will leave the camp midway and join the Indian team while Ten Doeschate will join directly from the United States next week as he is currently with the LA Knight Riders as part of their Major League Cricket (MLC) coaching staff.</p>

<p>In Morkel’s case, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to strike a deal and will be hoping to sign him before the tour officially begins on July 28.</p>

<p>Indian Army on Friday (Jul 19) stated that two terrorists killed recently in the Keran sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district, along the Line of Control (LoC), were foreigners.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, there are around 70 to 80 active foreign terrorists in the Union Territory and a fresh batch of 25-20 terrorists have recently infiltrated the region.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Thursday, a live grenade was found on the rooftop of a government building in the Poonch district. A bomb disposal squad was called after the bomb's discovery triggered panic and fear among residents of the government quarters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"My kids kept telling me that something was on the terrace and when I went to check, I saw that an object was lying in the corner. My younger son said that he found the object suspicious," a resident of Gulfam told news agency <em>PTI</em>.</p>

<p>The security agencies suspect that the grenade was thrown by a terrorist which fortunately did not explode. The bomb disposal experts defused the grenade while an investigation was&nbsp;launched into the matter.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Murmurs are that there is a split decision among the board officials, new head coach Gautam Gambhir and the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee with regard to&nbsp;the new captain. <p>India head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar have spoken to Hardik Pandya and informed the all-rounder about the last-minute change in T20I captaincy as Suryakumar Yadav is set to become the new skipper, as per reports. According to news agency PTI, Gambhir and Agarkar had a word with Hardik -- who has served as India's stand-in captain in the recent past and was also the vice-captain during the 2024 T20 World Cup --&nbsp;that they are looking for a full-time captain, keeping in view with 2026 T20 World Cup. It is understood that&nbsp;Surya is being preferred&nbsp;over&nbsp;the all-rounder for the latter's frequent&nbsp;fitness concerns, along with a&nbsp;poor run as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain in IPL 2024.</p>

<p>After Hardik, Surya's name cropped up who has led Mumbai in the domestic circuit in the past. In addition, the swashbuckling batter&nbsp;was also in charge of the Indian team for the home T20Is versus Australia and away series in South Africa,&nbsp;in late 2023.</p>

<p>At present, India is gearing up for the&nbsp;tour of Sri Lanka later this month, starting on July 27.&nbsp;The tour will kick off with three T20Is followed by an equal number of ODIs. India head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar have spoken to Hardik Pandya and informed the all-rounder about the last-minute change in T20I captaincy as Suryakumar Yadav is set to become the new skipper, as per reports. According to news agency PTI, Gambhir and Agarkar had a word with Hardik -- who has served as India's stand-in captain in the recent past and was also the vice-captain during the 2024 T20 World Cup -- that they are looking for a full-time captain, keeping in view with 2026 T20 World Cup. It is understood that Surya is being preferred over the all-rounder for the latter's frequent fitness concerns, along with a poor run as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain in IPL 2024. A senior BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity, "Hardik Pandya was India's T20 vice-captain under Rohit Sharma. He is completely fit and available for the three-match T20I series and was supposed to lead the side but there is a very strong feeling that SKY would be the potential leader not only for the Sri Lanka series but till the 2026 World Cup." Even Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20Is along with Rohit. After Hardik, Surya's name cropped up who has led Mumbai in the domestic circuit in the past. In addition, the swashbuckling batter was also in charge of the Indian team for the home T20Is versus Australia and away series in South Africa, in late 2023. At present, India is gearing up for the tour of Sri Lanka later this month, starting on July 27. The tour will kick off with three T20Is followed by an equal number of ODIs. The BCCI official has further confirmed that Hardik has asked for leave for the upcoming three ODIs in the island nation, citing personal reasons. Moreover, if Rohit is unavailable for the ODI leg, KL Rahul might lead India whereas Surya can be given the reins of the T20I team, not only for the SL tour but on a permanent basis until the next T20 WC. The right-hander is India's third-highest run-getter in T20Is, with 2,340 runs in only 68 games at a strike rate of 167.74 along with four 100s.
