Amid the uncertainty over the Indian team travelling to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has kept a 'supplementary budget' in funds.

The development was reported by the news agency PTI after the conclusion of ICC's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Colombo, Sri Lanka from July 19-22.

"The ICC has kept supplementary expenses in its tournament budget to meet any situation where the Indian team&nbsp;has to play its matches outside Pakistan," reported PTI amid the news that the ICC has approved the budget for the tournament.

"The PCB now has done what was required of it as hosts of the Champions Trophy. It has submitted the draft schedule and format for the event and also submitted budget for the event,” reported PTI citing a PCB source.

"It is now up to the ICC how soon they circulate, discuss and finalize the schedule of the Champions Trophy. The PCB for its part in the draft schedule has suggested hosting all of India's games in Lahore including a semi-final (if India qualifies) and final," the source added.&nbsp;

Both India and Pakistan face each other in the ICC and Asian tournaments only and do not play in bilateral series due to political tensions between them.

A top BCCI official reacted to the&nbsp;discussion on India's participation in the Champions Trophy during the ICC AGM and&nbsp;as per&nbsp;News 18 said,&nbsp;“It isn’t a bilateral where two boards will hold discussions. No dialogue happened between us and PCB on the Champions Trophy. Since it wasn’t on any of the agendas, it wasn’t discussed during the AGM too. It is still time away and ICC will handle it.”

Last year, India decided not to travel to Pakistan for the regional Asia Cup. The tournament was eventually played in a hybrid model with India playing all their matches in Sri Lanka.

The T20I series will also mark the start of Suryakumar Yadav’s era as captain having been given the opportunity ahead of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah in the format. This will also be the first time India will be without both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the T20I format for over a decade. They both however will return for the ODI series having announced T20I retirement after winning the World Cup in June.

Scotland pacer Charlie Cassell has broken the record of most wickets taken on ODI debut with figures of 7/21 in 5.4 overs against Oman on Monday (Jul 22) in ICC Men's Cricket ODI World Cup League 2.

Casell has taken over the record from South African Kagiso Rabada who had taken 6/16 on his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2016. Apart from Rabada, West Indies pacer Fidel Edwards also had taken 6/22 on his ODI debut.

"There's still some individuals who don't play white-ball cricket. For example, in my last few years in Baroda, Hardik Pandya wouldn't ever play white-ball cricket. For example, in my last few years in Baroda, Hardik Pandya wouldn't ever play white-ball cricket. That night of Shami's career, I feel, was the longest," he added.

Shami was eventually cleared of any wrongdoings and Umesh shared that the pacer was happiest after knowing the result of committee examining the allegations.&nbsp;

"Later, one day, when we were talking, he got a message on his phone saying he got a clean chit from the committee that was investigating the matter. He was probably happier that day than he would have been if he had won a World Cup," Umesh added.

Most recently, Shami performed splendidly at the ODI World Cup 2023 - taking the highest wickets (24) in the tournament despite playing only seven matches.

The pacer has since been recovering from an injury and hasn't played in any form of competitive cricket since then, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and T20 World Cup 2024.

With the T20I series set to start on Saturday, the hosts had yet to announce the squad for the three-match assignment. However, on Tuesday the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced the team which marked the return of two key players. Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Perera returned missing the former returning to the squad after February 2022 having missed a chunk of white-ball cricket during that period.

Chandimal’s last ODI match was in November 2022, but could now help regain the attention of the selectors ahead of the Champions Trophy, which starts in less than six months. &nbsp;"The ICC Americas office will work with Cricket Chile to support them in remedying their non-compliance. The board agreed that a normalisation committee comprising of board and management representatives will be set up to oversee and monitor USA Cricket's compliance roadmap and the ICC board will reserve its right to suspend or expel the member for continued non-compliance," it added.

Both the cricket boards have 12 months' time to fix issues, failing which they could be suspended by the ICC.

The ICC also initiated a review in 2024 T20 World Cup, setting up a three-member panel to review the whole tournament which ran from June 2 to 29 in the USA and Caribbean.

Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khawaja have been named to the panel and will submit their report to the ICC later this year.

There were reports of over expenditure on the USA leg of the tournament and organisation part in the Caribbean after the tournament got over.

Among other things discussed at the meet attended by all of its 108 members, the ICC has decided to expand the Women's T20 World Cup to 16 teams from 2030 edition.

ICC started the women's edition of the T20 World Cup with eight team in 2009. It rose to 10 teams in 2014 edition which will continue till the 2024 edition later this year. A total of 12 teams will participate in 2026 edition before rising to 16 in 2030.

Samson last played an ODI in December 2023, scoring a brilliant century against South Africa in the series played right after the ODI World Cup 2023.
