China&#39;s largest bitcoin exchanges said on Monday they were still awaiting clarification from the government following more media reports that Beijing was planning to ban trading of virtual currencies on domestic exchanges.

Spokeswomen for the OkCoin and Huobi platforms told Reuters they had no information to share following a report by Chinese financial publication Caixin that sent the price of bitcoin down 6.6 per cent on Friday.

Caixin reported that China was planning to shut down local crypto-currency exchanges. On Monday, Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal issued similar reports, saying that China was drafting a plan to ban commercial trading of all virtual currencies.

Reuters was unable to confirm the reports. BTC China, also one of China&#39;s three largest exchanges, and China&#39;s central bank did not immediately respond to Reuters&#39; requests for comment.

Bitcoin was trading lower by around 1.6 per cent at $4,160 on the Bitstamp platform on Monday. On Sept 2, it hit a record high of nearly $5,000.

China has boomed as a cryptocurrency trading venue in recent years as its domestic exchanges had previously allowed users to conduct trades for free, attracting investors and speculators who boosted demand and encouraging volumes.

However, regulators started taking a closer look at the industry in January this year and have since rolled out a series of rules for the industry including forcing exchanges to slap on trading fees and requiring them to strengthen oversight of customers&#39; identities.

China's largest bitcoin exchanges said on Monday they were still awaiting clarification from the government following more media reports that Beijing was planning to ban trading of virtual currencies on domestic exchanges. Spokeswomen for the OkCoin and Huobi platforms told Reuters they had no information to share following a report by Chinese financial publication Caixin that sent the price of bitcoin down 6.6 per cent on Friday. Caixin reported that China was planning to shut down local crypto-currency exchanges. On Monday, Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal issued similar reports, saying that China was drafting a plan to ban commercial trading of all virtual currencies. Reuters was unable to confirm the reports. BTC China, also one of China's three largest exchanges, and China's central bank did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. Bitcoin was trading lower by around 1.6 per cent at $4,160 on the Bitstamp platform on Monday. On Sept 2, it hit a record high of nearly $5,000. China has boomed as a cryptocurrency trading venue in recent years as its domestic exchanges had previously allowed users to conduct trades for free, attracting investors and speculators who boosted demand and encouraging volumes. However, regulators started taking a closer look at the industry in January this year and have since rolled out a series of rules for the industry including forcing exchanges to slap on trading fees and requiring them to strengthen oversight of customers' identities. The latest media reports follow China's move last week to ban so-called "initial coin offerings," or the practice of creating and selling digital currencies or tokens to investors in order to finance start-up projects. Xue Hongyan, director of the Suning Financial Research Institute, the research arm of one of China's largest fintech service providers, said in an article posted online that the latest reports suggested that the regulations were not aimed at the virtual currencies themselves, but rather trading of them. The car that is claimed to be the most aerodynamic street car from the Mercedes-AMG stable is being developed under the name Project One.&nbsp;

A two-seater car with a small backseat, Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar is expected to be priced at&nbsp;approximately $2.73 million.&nbsp;

The all-wheel drive car will make use of two electric motors on the front wheels.&nbsp;

While there&nbsp;will be an electric motor powering the crankshaft and the other will be paired with a turbocharger.&nbsp;

The four electric motors will use energy from a lithium-ion battery.&nbsp;

Mercedes-AMG Project One rear design unveiled

Germany&#39;s steel company Thyssenkrupp said today it could reach an agreement in principle to merge its European steel business with Tata Steel.

The deal which was in the works for over one and half years was stuck mainly because of <a href="http://www.wionews.com/business-economy/tata-steel-agrees-british-pensions-deal-15658">Tata Steel&#39;s pension liabilities in Britain</a>. Tata Steel was able to ink an agreement last month agreeing on a final salary settlement with British Steel Pension Scheme.

In fact, last month&nbsp;Thyssenkrupp <a href="http://www.wionews.com/business-economy/thyssenkrupp-wont-rush-into-tata-steel-merger-cfo-18833">CFO Guido Kerkhoff had said his company would </a>evaluate the Tata Steel and not rush into a deal with the Indian steel company.

However, on Monday a spokeswoman for Thyssenkrupp said both groups were close to a memorandum of understanding (MoU), paving the way for a detailed look at one another&#39;s books and detailed negotiations before creating the second largest steelmaker in Europe, Reuters reported.

Thyssenkrupp Chief Executive Heinrich Hiesinger favours a steel joint venture, Reuters said.

However, Trade union IG Metall said it remained opposed to a joint venture, adding there were no signs the labour representatives it has on Thyssenkrupp&#39;s supervisory board would agree, a Reuters report said.

India-based Lakshmi Mittal&#39;s ArcelorMittal is Europe&#39;s biggest steel-maker with headquarters in Luxembourg.

K8 Plus: Lenovo's new phone available @ Rs 10,999

Private Turkish firm Celebi Holding has written to the government expressing interest in buying the ground handling arm of Air India, according to civil aviation secretary RN Choubey.

In India, Celebi provides ground handling services at international airports in Mumbai and Delhi.

Celebi is the first foreign entity to show interest in the stake sale of Air India.

&quot;Celebi has written to us with an interest in Air India&#39;s ground handling business,&quot; Choubey confirmed to PTI.

Last month, aviation services provider Bird Group too had shown interest in acquiring Air India&#39;s Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL).

The Union Cabinet had given its in-principle approval for strategic disinvestment of Air India and its five subsidiaries in June this year.

Some of the other subsidiaries of Air India include Air India Charters Limited, IAL Airport Services Limited, Airline Allied Services Limited and Air India Engineering Services Limited.

On the day the Cabinet took the decision, InterGlobe Aviation, which runs the low-cost carrier IndiGo, wrote to the government showing its keenness on acquiring the international airline operations of Air India and its low-cost subsidiary Air India Express.

In a recent interview to PTI, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that the &quot;Indian mindset&quot; was to keep the ownership of Air India within the country but all options were open, including allowing foreign bidders.&nbsp;

The multimedia mobile application, Snapchat, has upgraded its messaging app with new features.&nbsp;

Snapchat has removed one of the abnormalities from its app which restricted the video&nbsp;limit to 10 seconds.&nbsp;

The company will allow its users to record six 10-second clips continuously without interruption, though the videos will still appear to viewers&nbsp;as 10 separate clips.

It will be different from the videos posted on Instagram or Whatsapp.&nbsp;

The users will have the option of posting any number of videos out of the 6 that they shoot. They are not required to post the entire sixty seconds segment. The videos will be posted in chronological order but the user can eliminate any part of the six videos.&nbsp;

Before the updated feature, a Snapchat user could record a new 10-second video only after deleting or posting the existing one.&nbsp;

Besides the 10-second continuous video shoot, Snapchat is also coming up with another feature called &quot;Tint Brush&quot; which will allow its users to highlight a part of their snap.

The multi snap recording feature will be available only to iPhone users, while the company has assured its roll out for Android users in the future.
