Days of Our Lives actress Arianne Zucker has filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the show’s executive producer Albert Alarr. In her lawsuit, she claims that she and others were sexually harassed by Albert.

Her lawsuit alleges that Albert Alarr exited the show amid a misconduct investigation as he excessively filmed aggressive sex scenes and threesome sequences. Albert left the show last summer. As per her lawsuit, he once told the actress, “Believe me, I’d love to switch positions with you” while filming a scene.

Arianne Zucker files lawsuit

The suit also claims that Alarr routinely made sexual comments, tightly hugged Zucker and other women and bullied female employees. Alarr would allegedly sit in a booth to watch sex scenes being filmed, often offering directions like “fuck him like you were younger,” the complaint says.

Arianne said no one did anything about her complaints even as she reported to the head of the show’s production company, Ken Corday. He declined to address the misconduct after an investigation. She claims in her suit that she was subjected to a pay cut in retaliation for coming forward.

Arianne Zucker played Nicole Walker on the NBC daytime soap opera for more than 25 years until her character was written off the show last year.

Alarr worked on Days of Our Lives for 20 years before his departure in August 2023, which came after a Deadline report revealed an internal misconduct investigation by Sony Pictures Television showing that he had been accused of creating a toxic work environment.

Alarr, Corday and Corday Productions are named in the complaint.

Maisie Williams will transform into Christian Dior’s sister, Catherine for a new Apple TV+ series titled The New Look. The upcoming show will tell the story of how Dior, Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain and Cristóbal Balenciaga navigated the horrors of World War II and launched major fashion houses that rule even today.

Dior among the ranks of others who built fashion houses that have lasted decades, joined the Resistance, risking her life every day to be a part of a covert network titled F2 that gathered intelligence for the Allies during the war. She was arrested by the Nazis in July 1944 and imprisoned at Ravensbrück concentration camp where she was tortured by the Gestapo.

Maisie Williams is best known for playing a pivotal role in Game of Thrones. She played Aarya Stark, who ended up being one of the most important characters as it was she who killed the Night King. In order to play Catherine in the show, Maisie lost 25 pounds through a regimen, carefully overseen by medical professionals, that included regular blood tests and heart rate measurements.

While talking about her role and what it demanded from her, she said most of the weight that she lost was from sweating out fluid before filming. She also ate very little and meditated regularly. She said, “I had to be up at 4 am to start sweating. The night before, at about 7 or 8 p.m. I was allowed to have something salty and dehydrating — some smoked salmon and a tiny glass of wine. Then I had a boiling-hot bath with lots of salts in it. And I sort of levitated to bed and slept for maybe three hours and woke up and had a handful of nuts. I wouldn’t be able to sleep through the night at this point.”

The Game of Thrones actress revealed she walked the treadmill while watching the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics because she struggled to understand Catherine Dior’s patriotism that led her to risk her life the way that she did.

What to expect from The New Look

Maisie Williams was cast in the role of Catherine Dior in February 2022. She spent the whole year in Paris where the show was filmed.

We will get to see Maisie do a lot of physically challenging scenes – interrogation in Paris, her journey in sealed cattle trucks to Germany after being arrested and what she endured at the concentration camp. “It was very relentless. The process of doing take after take, it really breaks down your character in a way. It’s not for everyone, but for me, I like to get lost in a role and keep on pushing until we complete a scene,” she said.

Maisie Williams to play concentration camp survivor in new Apple TV+ show

Bhumi Pednekar has a knack of picking stories. Bhakshak is testament of this decision-making prowess she has as she excels as a young journalist in a small town in Bihar, trying to expose the evils of those in power.

Bhakshak is loosely inspired by the Muzaffarpur shelter home scandal where it was found that a former legislator and his aides were sexually abusing and harassing children in a girls shelter home that came under a state-funded non-governmental organisation.

The Story

Bhumi Pednekar plays Vaishali, a determined journalist who wants to uncover the dark secrets of an orphanage shelter home after her source lands an audit report stating sexual abuse and loss of lives of girls by those who are running the facility.

Bhumi’s Vaishali then takes it upon her to expose the people associated with it with the help of her cameraperson and partner Bhaskar (played by Sanjay Mishra). They run a channel called Koshish with a new segment on the crimes she’s keen on unfolding called Bhakshak (meaning predator). Sanjay and Bhumi are spectacular together every time they come on screen. Their chemistry sparkles on screen as they form an unbreakable bond which translates to the viewers.

Bhumi plays the convincing journalist who wants to bring a change with her journalism ethic. In backdrop, it’s been established that she’s left a salaried job at a channel to find her own footing. This is in correspondence to the internal struggles the film treads upon – facing a chauvinistic set of in-laws who look down upon her work, her government service employee husband who scolds her for coming home late in the night or not making dinner on time.

Then there’s the outsider eye of the MLA and his aides who sneer and taunt her at first and then warn and threaten her when they are unable to shake her conviction in getting to the root of evil. Aditya Sahu plays a sinister Bansi Sahu, the MLA as he ogles and objectifies the women at every drop of a hat. He does his bidding in dissuading her from uncovering the truth – from threatening her marital life to much more.

The story comes together when Bhumi with no support, no funding and zero tolerance on part of the family, stays true to her grit. She doesn’t take law in her hands but does what a journalist should do – research and uncover the truth. She gets some help from the new DSP (Sai Tamhankar) but Bhumi does most of the footwork since madam has her hands bound by red tape. How she does it, is not the story but what she wants to evoke in the viewer as she gets them is!

What Works and What Doesn't

She’s self-righteous in parts, self-conscious in others. She’s the stuff a good journalist should be made of. What are we without a bit of drama, roadblocks and determination, really?

The film is a great watch and is neatly packaged. Even though it deals with a sensitive matter and tries to teach us and make us aware of something, not once does it turn preachy and loud. It maintains its undertone of dignity throughout the length.

The film’s climatic monologue by Bhumi is well-deserved but could have varied opinions. It doesn’t assume that the viewer is dumb and doesn’t understand nuances and that’s the best thing about this Pulkit directorial.

Bhakshak is currently streaming on Netflix. It released on February 9.

Designed to give an experience into the architecture of one of the most coveted central universities of India, CP Kukreja Foundation for Design Excellence showcased their first exhibition at the recently concluded India Art Fair 2024. Their project was called "The Masterplan" as they commemorated fifty years of the university, which was the monumental first commission of famous Indian architect CP Kukreja.

The exhibition was divided into four chapters, where we witnessed the intersections between architecture, climate, nation building and engage with narratives that have shaped the education system of India vis-a-vis the Jawaharlal Nehru University. Often clouded with negative conversations around the university, the ideology it promotes and the students politics, this was an effort on part of the CP Kukreja Foundation for Design Excellence and curator Vishal Dar to celebrate the architecture of the prominent area.

We got talking to Arunima Kukreja, Director CP Kukreja Foundation who told us about the vision behind their exhibit, what they hoped to achieve with this and why JNU’s architecture is a relevant model for future buildings.

WION: What was the thought behind this installation?

Answer: The thought was to share the story of the making of JNU which is considered a defining moment in modern Indian architecture, but very little is known about its making. Not only was it one of the largest and most significant projects of its time but the fact that a young 31-year-old Architect CP Kukreja won a National Design Competition and went to create this university is worth a mention.

WION: What did you hope to achieve with this?

Answer: It showcases how almost half a century ago the design approach of the architect of creating a climate responsive architecture was way ahead of its time and offers many lessons to what we are trying to achieve today and calling environment friendly green buildings.

WION: What was the response like at your exhibit?

Answer: The response has been unprecedented and demonstrates the desire of people to look at climate responsiveness and culturally relevant design solutions. People are amazed to see such a unique approach to modern architecture which is not aimed at aping the west, rather celebrates the Indian vernacular in a modern, contemporary way.

WION: With more focus on using sustainable materials and using a design language that is eco-friendly, where does JNU fit in?

Answer: JNU has in many ways been the precursor of sustainability in design and is a project which half a century ago already successfully imbibed eco-friendly materials and design strategies which are coming into design discourse today.

American rappers Snoop Dogg and Master P are upset with supermarket giant Walmart. The two have filed a suit against Walmart as they claim that it is sabotaging the duo’s cereal brand by not displaying them on shelves and incorrectly saying it was out of stock.

What does the lawsuit claim?

The lawsuit filed on behalf of the two rappers accuses Walmart and Post Consumer Brands of hiding boxes of Snoop Cereal. They are labelling it as a "blatant disregard" of a black-owned business. The lawsuit claims that Walmart and Post Consumer Brands "ensured that Snoop Cereal would not be available to consumers" or that Broadus Foods would "incur exorbitant costs that would eliminate any profit".

"Post essentially worked with Walmart to ensure that none of the boxes of Snoop Cereal would ever appear on the store shelves."
