Taapsee Pannu, whose new film Gandhari was released this week, has revealed that the failure of female-led films have a bigger impact on their contemporaries. While promoting Gandhari ahead of its release, Taapsee explained how the failure of Alia Bhatt-led Alpha affected her own projects.
How Alpha’s failure affected Taapsee’s work
Taapsee stated that failure of female led action movies are questioned more. “One thing I've noticed, and people have been asking me this lately, is that when you put money into a film or mount an action film on a female actor — which is not a conventional genre for a woman — people ask, ‘Why doesn't it work?' If you put money into it, make it a big film, and it doesn't work, then how will anyone invest money again? I have only one question. The big, male-driven film that money is invested in—does it always have an impeccable storyline?” According to her, “if there is a male-driven action film, or any kind of big-budget film, and the story is 15 or 20—let's say 19 or 20—even if it is 15 or 20, it will work. But our measuring yard is different. If so much money is invested in a female-driven film, there is an expectation that, forget 19 or 20, you have to deliver 21. You cannot go wrong,” she pointed out. She noted that such budgets are often considered “big” only in relative terms. She added, “All of our leading actresses who want to do films where we lead the story—it impacts all of us. All of our films get shelved. I can tell you from my own experience: if there is a big female-driven flop in a particular year, then the conversations I have with investors change. Investors back out.” When she was asked if she faced issues after Alpha failed at the box office, Taapsee said, “Yes. Every year it happens. The conversations are like, ‘These days, female-driven films are not working. If such a big superstar's film is not working, then what will happen to the rest? That's why we won't make them now. Women-driven cinema is not popular now.'” Taapsee added that this can result in several projects being abandoned altogether. Taapsee also said that the opposite also happens when such films work. “When someone else's film becomes popular, suddenly there are new phone calls. People say, ‘Let's attempt this genre. This is working.' Suddenly, if a horror movie is doing well and it is driven by a female actor, they call and say, ‘With a female, we can make horror. That has worked',” she said.
WION’s review of Gandhari
In her review of Gandhari, WION’s Shomini Sen said, “Watching Gandhari is a deeply frustrating exercise. It takes up a theme that has already been talked about it films and series before, adds a bit of Kahaani flavour with Bengal serving as a backdrop while a mother goes around looking for her missing daughter, adds pointless twists that do not help the narrative and ultimately makes the film overdramatic. It is a pity that the film has Devasish Makhija as a director who has in the past made brilliant films like Ajji and Bhonsle. So many of the film’s subplots have loose ends, and so much is left unexplained. In the end, it is one woman show- fighting the odds, solving a murky case- all alone.” Read full review here

Krystle D’Souza and Rida Tharana emerged victorious in the high-stakes finale of The Traitors Season 2, taking home the coveted title and sharing the cash prize of Rs 66 lakhs. Hosted by Karan Johar, the reality show concluded with the duo successfully outmanoeuvring their fellow contestants to stay standing until the very end. Contestants Dalip Tahil, Saahil Salathia, and Shalini Passi were among finalist who got eliminated.
The final murder and mission
The grand finale kicked off on a tense note with the 'murder' of Mallika Sherawat on the morning of the last day in the palace. The remaining group—consisting of Dalip Tahil, Shalini Passi, Saahil Salathia, Krystle D'Souza, and Rida Tharana—then headed into their final mission. Working together as a team, they boosted the ultimate prize pot by retrieving gold coins off the backs of camels. Following the task, the women teamed up to target Dalip Tahil, successfully eliminating him during the final “circle of shaq.”

Twists and turns in the last circle
With only four players left—Krystle, Rida, Saahil, and Shalini—the final elimination rounds began in front of Karan Johar. Saahil was the first to be voted out. Next, Krystle and Rida turned their sights on Shalini Passi. Upon her elimination, a stunned Shalini remarked that life would teach them a "lesson" after they broke her trust, believing she was alongside fellow Innocents.
A loyalty-driven victory
In a final reveal, Krystle and Rida were uncovered as the two remaining Traitors, securing their victory as Karan Johar officially named them the winners. Though Krystle had the opportunity to turn against Rida to claim the entire prize money for herself, she chose solidarity over greed, stating she would rather be a "girl's girl" and honor the support they shared throughout the game.
About The Traitors
Based on the original Dutch series De Verraders—which has also sparked wildly popular American and British adaptations—the show challenges a group of contestants to work together to unmask hidden Traitors among them. While the Innocents aim to vote out the deceptive players, the Traitors work in secret to 'murder' contestants one by one. Season 2 boasted a star-studded celebrity lineup, featuring Aaditya Kulshreshth (Kullu), Abhishek Malhan (Fukraa Insaan), Ansh Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Prish, Ranveer Brar, Rhea Chakraborty, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Soundous Moufakir, and Tanya Puri.

Contestants Krystle D’Souza and Rida Tharana won the second season of The Traitors. The two beat finalists like Dalip Tahil, Saahil Salathia, and Shalini Passi and emerged as winners.

Prime Minister of Belgium, Bart De Wever, says, "The exchange of the Letter of Intent we have just witnessed gives that cooperation a new framework — from government-to-government contacts and military exchanges to research, innovation, co-development, and hopefully co-production. And alongside it, a series of additional defence-related MOUs are being concluded during Minister Francken's mission, bringing companies and institutions from both countries closer together. Because security, too, is something we strengthen by working with partners we can trust. And the same is true for our economies. Prime Minister Modi and I had a very good discussion about trade and investment, and about the broader changes taking place in the world today and the economy of today. My country believes strongly in free and fair trade. For us, open markets are not just an abstract principle; they are part of our economic DNA and the basis of our prosperity..."

Belgium PM over trade and investment

Prime Minister of Belgium, Bart De Wever, says, "Recent years have shown us how quickly supply chains can be disrupted and weaponised, how geopolitical instability can affect our energy and our economies, and how excessive dependencies can become vulnerabilities. Our course rejects two false choices. Firstly, we do not choose protectionism. But neither do we accept naive dependencies. We have done so for far too long. And secondly, we certainly do not believe that the answer is to retreat economically behind our own walls and our own borders. Our answer is strategic openness. Diversification is not decoupling. It means more reliable suppliers, access to more markets, stronger connections, and more trusted partnerships. He adds, "The successful conclusion of the EU-India Free Trade Agreement is a major milestone. It would be a happy ending of the year 2026 to see the signature in Belgium, and we would have the honour of receiving Prime Minister Modi in my country. We want to go all in as Belgium to ensure that this agreement is translated into concrete action and tangible results for our citizens... We already have 235 Belgian companies investing in India. Around 95 Indian companies are already present in Belgium. Our bilateral trade in goods stands at 9.4 billion euros, and I think there is a margin for a lot of growth."

In a letter to the court on Wednesday, the humanitarian group stated that the attack warrants “an independent, impartial, thorough, and effective investigation” given the “civilian character of the location”. Those killed were two women and two children, aged four and 16. An Iranian official said most of the wounded were also women and children.

This Indian AI is bringing market intelligence to intraday traders

A new generation of AI-powered market-intelligence tools is attempting to make technical analysis more accessible to India’s multilingual retail-investor base. Kwala Intel, an AI market-intelligence platform focused on Indian markets, allows users to ask questions about stocks, technical indicators and market trends in multiple Indian languages and receive explanations linked to market charts. For millions of retail participants entering India’s financial markets, understanding a stock chart can be almost as challenging as understanding the market itself. Candlesticks, moving averages, oscillators and technical indicators are often accompanied by unfamiliar English terminology, leaving many users dependent on simplified tips rather than understanding how a conclusion was reached.
The Need for Better Retail-Market Education
The development comes against a backdrop of rapidly changing retail participation in Indian markets. SEBI studies have repeatedly highlighted the difficulties faced by individual traders in the futures and options segment, including high rates of losses among retail participants. The numbers have reinforced a broader debate around financial education and the risks of participating in increasingly complex financial products without sufficient understanding. For multilingual users, that gap has an additional dimension. Access to information is not necessarily the same as access to information in a language and format that feels intuitive. That challenge becomes more significant in a country where investors consume financial content in multiple languages. While stock exchanges and much of the financial ecosystem operate primarily in English, many retail users prefer to learn, research and discuss markets in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and other Indian languages. Artificial intelligence is now beginning to address both sides of this problem — the complexity of market data and the language barrier.
Making Technical Analysis Easier to Understand
Technical analysis uses a relatively defined set of concepts to study price movements, momentum and market behaviour. Indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI), Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), Bollinger Bands and Fibonacci retracements are widely used by market participants. The difficulty for newer users is often not the concept itself, but understanding what the indicator is showing and how it relates to the price chart. For example, an RSI reading may indicate that recent price movements have become unusually strong in one direction. MACD can be used to study changes in momentum, while Bollinger Bands help users examine price movement and volatility around a moving average. Support and resistance levels can provide context around areas where buying or selling activity has historically appeared. AI-powered interfaces are changing that interaction by allowing users to ask questions directly rather than having to search for every individual concept.
Asking the Chart in Your Own Language
Kwala Intel is an example of this emerging approach. The AI-powered market-intelligence platform is designed around a conversational interface through which users can explore stocks, market data and technical-analysis concepts across multiple Indian languages. Instead of navigating several research screens, users can ask questions in a more natural format. A user could ask what the important support and resistance levels are for a stock, whether momentum appears to be strengthening or weakening, or what a particular technical indicator is showing. The platform combines the conversational response with visual market information, allowing users to connect an explanation with the underlying chart rather than receiving only a textbook definition. For example, a user asking about RSI does not necessarily need to remember the indicator’s formula first. The interaction can begin with a simple question and move toward an explanation of what the indicator is showing on the relevant chart. This approach could be particularly relevant for users who are more comfortable communicating in Indian languages. Kwala Intel supports interactions across languages including Hindi, English, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu. The founder says its objective is not to eliminate the need for financial knowledge, but to make that knowledge easier to access and understand.
Beyond Indicators: A Broader Market-Research Companion
The use case also extends beyond individual technical indicators. Users can explore company information, understand quarterly results, learn about options and ask broader questions about how different parts of the financial market work. This creates a different model of financial research. Instead of treating market information as a collection of separate screens, reports and terminology, a conversational AI interface allows users to move from one question to the next. That can be useful outside market hours as well. Investors often review charts after the trading session, try to understand a failed setup, examine company results or prepare questions for the following day. A conversational research platform can provide a continuous environment for that learning process.
A More Conversational Future for Financial Research
The emergence of platforms such as Kwala Intel reflects a wider shift in how consumers interact with information. Search engines once required users to know the right keywords. Conversational AI allows users to describe what they want to understand in ordinary language. Applied to financial markets, that shift could make technical concepts more approachable for a wider section of India’s retail-investor population. Website: KwalaIntel.com

One of the most important statements on this front came from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During a bilateral meeting with Russian president on the sidelines of SCO, Indian Prime Minister said world must move from endless war to end of war. In a bilateral meeting with Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, PM Modi reiterated India’s support for all peace efforts. He urged Tehran to ensure peace and freedom of navigation. On the other hand, Pezeshkian asked Indian PM to use extensive contacts to help the dialogue process. Western leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, previously praised Modi's stance that today's era is not of war. Ukraine's President Zelensky has also previously urged PM Modi to help end the war. The SCO Summit has once again sparked diplomatic discussions regarding India's potential role in advancing peace efforts on both Ukraine and Iran fronts. New Delhi's multi-aligned foreign policy gives it a unique position in steering through the era of global polarisation. From Israel to Iran and from US to China and Russia, India has maintained critical diplomatic balance between different poles of emerging world order. Moving to the SCO roundtable, Indian Prime Minister defined three main pillars of SCO – security, connectivity and opportunity. He stressed on the need for zero tolerance towards terrorism and also emphasized that there should be no double standards in fight against terrorism. The final declaration of the summit mentioned the exact verbatim. In the Bishkek declaration, member states strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and emphasized that double standards in the fight against terrorism are unacceptable. The SCO also called on the international community to combat terrorism, including the cross-border movement of terrorists. During the summit, several power dynamics were also at play. As leaders posed for a family photo, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin walked up to PM Modi, all three leaders had a brief chat and then took position on the podium. As all the leaders were interacting with each other, Pakistan's Prime Minister had an awkward moment. He was seen walking to the podium without interacting with anyone. Later Pakistan Prime Minister's X account posted a cropped picture showing him at the centre of the SCO family picture. In order to make Shehbaz Sharif a central figure, his office had to crop out half of the picture, leaving out leaders including Indian Prime Minister Modi and Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian. From international issues to diplomatic power play, SCO 2026 emerged as a platform of convergence despite differences. From efforts to end wars to countering terrorism, it provides a critical forum for multilateral engagement.
