In the two and half minute video, the Republican focused on long lines of voters on the day of the elections and said that tens of thousands of them in the Maricopa country have been disenfranchised, the Guardian reported.&nbsp;

County's chairman Bill Gates said, "We feel very confident that every voter had the opportunity to vote and have their vote counted." He claimed that no one was disenfranchised.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday will deliver the inaugural address at the third 'No Money for Terror'&nbsp;(NMFT) Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing.

In a statement, the Prime Minister`s office (PMO) said the conference will offer a unique platform for participating nations and organizations to deliberate on the effectiveness of the current international regime on Counter Terrorism Financing as well as steps required to address emerging challenges.

The conference will build on the gains and learnings of the previous two conferences held in Paris in April 2018 and in Melbourne in November 2019. It will also work towards enhancing global cooperation to deny finances to terrorists and access to permissive jurisdictions to operate.

PM Modi will inaugurate the conference while Union Home Minister Amit Shah will conclude the event, conveying India`s determination in its fight against terrorism and its support systems for achieving success against it.

On Thursday, India said that confirmation from China is still awaited while Pakistan and Afghanistan are not participating in the international event.

On a query over the presence of China in the international event on terror financing, Secretary West (MEA) Sanjay Verma said "the participation of China is not yet confirmed".

Amid slow economic growth, mass layoffs at Amazon across teams will continue till 2023, says CEO Andy Jassy 

A judge on Wednesday (November 16)&nbsp; sent to jail without parole the man who killed six and injured several when he drove his SUV through a Christmas parade.

The incident took place on November 21, 2021, when Darrell Brooks&nbsp;Jr. 40, drove over the parade in his red Ford Escape in downtown Waukesha. Six were killed including an eight-year-old child. Several others were severely injured.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The judge sentenced him on 76 charges, including six of first-degree intentional homicide and 61 counts of reckless endangerment. Jennifer Dorrow, Waukesha, County Circuit Judge,&nbsp;rejected all arguments from him and his family claiming that his mental illness made him do this, AP reported.&nbsp;

It was found that on November 21, Brooks left his house in anger after having a fight with his ex-girlfriend.&nbsp;

"Frankly, Mr. Brooks, no one is safe from you,” Dorrow&nbsp;said. “This community can only be safe if you are behind bars for the rest of your life. ... You left a path of destruction, chaos, death, injury and panic as you drove seven or so blocks through the Christmas parade."

However, before the judge handed the life sentences, Brooks claimed that he's been mentally ill since he was a child and that the incident that took place was not intentional. Rambling over his growing up with no father, poor,&nbsp;hungry and physically abused, he&nbsp;said that he has been dealing with illness all his life. In court, his mother and grandmother tried to persuade Dorrow to place Brooks in a mental institution rather than in prison. His grandmother claimed that Brooks had bipolar disorder and whatever that happened was not intentional. His mother, Dawn Woods tried persuading the judge&nbsp;to let Brooks receive treatment in prison.&nbsp;

Dorrow, before handing the sentences, said that she doesn't believe that Brooks is suffering from any mental illness. She said that four psychologists who evaluated him said that he suffers from an antisocial personality but not a mental illness. She added that whatever Brooks did was in anger and rage.&nbsp;

Offering his apologies to all the victims and to their families, Brooks said, " I want you to know that not only am I sorry for what happened, I’m sorry that you could not see what’s truly in my heart,” he said. “That you cannot see the remorse that I have."

A day prior to the hearing, Dorrow spent an entire day listening to the dozens of victims and their families to sentence Brooks maximum possible sentence.&nbsp;

Myanmar's military said Thursday it will release almost 6,000 prisoners, including a former British ambassador, a Japanese journalist and an Australian economics adviser, in a rare olive branch from the isolated junta.&nbsp;The Southeast Asian country has been in turmoil since the military's coup last year and a bloody crackdown on dissent during which thousands have been jailed.

Former British envoy Vicky Bowman, Australian economics adviser Sean Turnell and Japanese journalist Toru Kubota "will be released to mark National Day", a senior officer told AFP.

All three would be deported, the junta said without specifying a date.

Around 200 people had gathered outside the Insein prison in Yangon in the hope that their loved ones would be among those released, said AFP reporters who also saw several yellow buses enter the sprawling compound.

Altogether, 5,774 prisoners will be released, "including some 600 women", the junta official said, revising an earlier figure of about 700 women.&nbsp;

The junta did not say in its statement announcing the amnesty how many of those pardoned had been arrested during the military's crackdown on dissent.

Bowman, who served as ambassador from 2002 to 2006, was detained with her husband in August for failing to declare she was living at an address different from the one listed on her foreigner's registration certificate.

They were later jailed for a year. Her husband, prominent&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;artist Htein Lin, will also be released, the military official said.

A British diplomatic source said Bowman had not yet been released but they expected her to be freed. The junta statement did not list her husband among those due to be deported.

Ties between&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;and its former colonial ruler Britain have soured since the military's takeover, with the junta this year criticising the UK's recent downgrading of its mission there as "unacceptable".

Turnell was working as an adviser to&nbsp;Myanmar's civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi when he was detained shortly after the coup in February 2021.

He and Suu Kyi were convicted in September by a closed junta court of breaching the Official Secrets Act and jailed for three years each.

"We welcome reports in relation to Professor Sean Turnell," Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Twitter.

"Professor Turnell continues to be our first priority. As such, we will not be commenting further at this stage."

Japanese journalist Kubota, 26, was detained in July near an anti-government rally in Yangon along with two&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;citizens and jailed for 10 years.

A source at Japan's embassy in&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;told AFP they had "been informed that Mr. Kubota will be released today" by junta authorities.

Kubota would leave for Japan "today", they said.&nbsp;Kubota is the fifth foreign journalist to be detained in&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;since the coup, after US citizens Nathan Maung and Danny Fenster, Robert Bociaga of Poland and Yuki Kitazumi of Japan -- all of whom were later freed and deported.

At least 170 journalists have been arrested since the coup according to UNESCO, with nearly 70 still in detention.

One woman, who did not want to give her name for fear of reprisals, said she was waiting for her husband, who was halfway through a three-year sentence for encouraging dissent against the military. &nbsp;

"Earlier, he was a USDP (military-backed political party) supporter. After the coup, he joined the protests. I'm very proud of him," she said.&nbsp;

San San Aye said she was waiting for her brothers and sisters to be released.

"Three of them were sentenced to three years each,&nbsp;eight months ago," she told AFP.&nbsp;

"Their children are waiting at home. We will be more than happy if they are released."

Independent analyst David Mathieson told AFP: "Professor Turnell's release is remarkable news after being held hostage by the regime, and his family and friends will be delighted."

However, he said the junta "shows no sign of reform and a mass amnesty doesn't absolve them of atrocities committed since the coup".

Amnesty's regional office spokesperson said: "Thousands of people jailed since the coup in&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;have done nothing wrong and should never have been imprisoned in the first place."

Three former ministers from Suu Kyi's ousted government and detained US-Myanmar&nbsp;citizen Kyaw Htay Oo would also be released, the junta official said.

More than 2,300 civilians have been killed since the military's crackdown on dissent after it ousted Suu Kyi's government, according to a&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;monitoring group.&nbsp;

Officials of Yale's and Harvard's law school have announced that they will no&nbsp;longer be participating in US News and World Report's annual rankings of the top law schools in the world, saying its ‘methodologies are profoundly flawed’.&nbsp;

CBS News quoted an&nbsp;official from the Yale, Dean Heather K Gerken, saying in a blog post that the methodology adopted for&nbsp;the ranking&nbsp;list is "profoundly flawed". She said, "We have reached a point where the rankings process is undermining the core commitments of the legal profession," noting that the school&nbsp;"has taken the top spot every year" since the rankings began. "As a result, we will no longer participate."

Gerken&nbsp;said that the list discourages low-income students or public service aspiring students to pursue courses as it excludes loan-forgiveness programmes in student debts. The Public Service Programmes Loan Forgiveness&nbsp;was introduced in 2007 for forgiving loans for American students who wish to work in public service jobs.&nbsp;

The officials further said that the rankings list discourages universities from admitting low-income background students. For example, one such measure is "reputation" or how the college deals with rival colleges. The critics argued that this has little to do with the college's ability to educate its students. Another instance critics found was that it&nbsp;reinforces&nbsp;income inequality, hence reducing&nbsp;diversity among students.&nbsp;

Neither Yale nor Harvard will be harmed by withdrawing their names from the list, given their strong global positions,&nbsp;and successful,&nbsp;renowned alumni. Yale's alumni include former US President Bill Clinton and four of the US Supreme Court judges.&nbsp;Both also have a budget to help students from low-income backgrounds. Harvard's plan stands at&nbsp;$50 billion while that of Yale is around&nbsp;$41 billion.&nbsp;

She said, "We have reached a point where the rankings process is undermining the core commitments of the legal profession," noting that the school "has taken the top spot every year" since the rankings began. "As a result, we will no longer participate." The officials further said that the rankings list discourages universities from admitting low-income background students. For example, one such measure is "reputation" or how the college deals with rival colleges. The critics argued that this has little to do with the college's ability to educate its students. Another instance critics found was that it reinforces income inequality, hence reducing diversity among students. He said that he wants to be police minister, and Netanyahu said the coalition will agree soon on the matter. Ben-Gvir claims that he has moderated since then. In total, the sentence brings Oktar's punishment to 8,658 years. The court also gave similar years in prison to 10 other suspects, AFP reported.&nbsp;

The first verdict against Oktar and his mates was filed in January 2021 but was&nbsp;overruled by an upper court citing legal proof&nbsp;and ordering a retrial.&nbsp;This&nbsp;indictment against Oktar and his mates was presented in the court in September, accusing him of also running an armed organisation and exploiting the religious sentiments of many.
