UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Thursday said that he wished he could cut taxes but the current public finances are not in favourable condition.&nbsp;

Sunak said that the pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine had left the state of public finances "not where it needs to be."&nbsp;

He said that people are 'not idiots' and will understand why the immediate tax cuts are unaffordable.&nbsp;

As per media reports earlier this week the UK Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, is planning to "slim down' the budget in March with no immediate tax cuts.&nbsp;

During a Q&amp;A session in Morecambe, Sunak said that when he was a chancellor he 'preferred it when the prime minister didn't comment on the tax policies.'

Assuring people on taxes, he said, "I am a Conservative. I want to cut your taxes, of course I do, because you all work incredibly hard and I want you to keep more of your money so you can spend it on the stuff that you want to."

He added, "trust me, that’s what I’m going to do for you this year, that’s what we’re going to do while I’m prime minister and if we do those things we will be able to cut your taxes."

Meanwhile, when the decision not to cut taxes was revealed, things didn't go well with Conservative MPs.

After Sunak's remarks, various MPs privately said that they were surprised at the language.&nbsp;

A rare theft scene has gone viral in India where a group of robbers posing as telecom company employees uprooted a 29-foot-long mobile tower in Patna's Sabzibagh and took off. The incident has left cops red-faced and local residents in worry, TOI reported.&nbsp;

It came to the limelight after technicians of the telecom company, while conducting a survey of mobile towers and 5G services found their network and its equipment missing.&nbsp;

The tower worth thousands of dollars was installed on the roof of a four-storey house belonging to a man named Shaheen Qayoom.

A case was filed against the unknown group after Mohammad Shahnanawa Anwar, the area&nbsp;manager of GTL told police that a mobile tower is missing. The case was filed under Section 379 of the IPC.&nbsp;

As of now, no clear ground regarding the culprits has yet been established.&nbsp;

The SHO, Sabihul Haque said that the tower was installed in 2006 by Aircel but in 2016 the company sold the tower to GTL.

The investigation is underway.&nbsp;

Similar instances have occurred in India last year when a similar type of group dismantled an entire iron bridge in Rohtas and a train engine in Begusarai.

During the visit, leaders of both countries are expected to sign MoU for an Indian grant for the implementation of the high-impact community development projects.

Jaishankar was also briefed on the political devolution of the country by Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe.&nbsp;He also handed over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to the president to visit India at the earliest convenience to discuss a bilateral partnership.

India's automobile giant Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday said that it is recalling over 17,000&nbsp;vehicles manufactured between 08 December 2022 and January 12, 2023, over a possible defect in its airbag controller.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The company in its statement said, "the Company has announced to recall a total of 17,362 vehicles manufactured between 8 December 2022 and 12 January, 2023. The affected models are Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco,Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara."&nbsp;

The recall comes after Maruti Suzuki India on Monday announced that it has increased the prices of its vehicles by almost 1.1 per cent. This is the second price hike undertaken by the carmaker in the ongoing fiscal year.&nbsp;
