Federal prosecutors have seized nearly $700 million in assets from&nbsp;FTX&nbsp;founder Sam Bankman-Fried in January, largely in the form of Robinhood stock, according to a court filing on Friday.&nbsp;Bankman-Fried, who has been accused of stealing billions of dollars from&nbsp;FTX&nbsp; customers to pay debts incurred by his crypto-focused hedge fund, has pleaded not guilty to fraud charges. He is scheduled to face trial in October.

The Department of Justice revealed the seizure of Robinhood shares earlier this month, but it provided a more complete list of seized assets Friday, including cash held at various banks and assets deposited at crypto exchange Binance.

The ownership of the seized Robinhood shares, valued at about $525 million, has been the subject of dispute&nbsp;between Bankman-Fried,&nbsp;FTX, and bankrupt crypto lender BlockFi.

The most recent asset seizure reported by the DOJ took place on Thursday, when prosecutors seized $94.5 million in cash from an account at Silvergate Bank which was associated with&nbsp;FTX&nbsp;Digital Markets,&nbsp;FTX's subsidiary in the Bahamas. The DOJ seized more than $7 million from other Silvergate accounts associated with Bankman-Fried and&nbsp;FTX.

The DOJ previously seized nearly $50 million from an&nbsp;FTX&nbsp;Digital Markets account at Moonstone Bank, a small bank in Washington state.

DOJ also said that assets in three Binance accounts associated with Bankman-Fried were subject to criminal forfeiture, but did not provide an estimate of the value in those accounts.

“Following the circulation of a video on social media showing an individual failing to wear a seat belt while a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire we have today (Friday, January 20) issued a 42-year-old man from London with a conditional offer of fixed penalty,” Lancashire Police said in a statement. 
 
On Thursday, Sunak apologised for a “brief error of judgment” in removing his seatbelt to film a video while driving in north-west England. 
 
“That was a brief error of judgement. The PM removed his seatbelt to film a small clip. He fully accepts this was a mistake and apologises about it,” Sunak's spokesperson said. 
“The Prime Minister believes everyone should wear a seatbelt,” he added.

After Sunak's video went viral, a spokesperson said, "He fully accepts this was a mistake&nbsp;and has apologised." The representative also said that he would pay the fine.

In the UK, passengers caught without wearing a seat belt can be fined £100 ($124), which can increase to £500 ($620)&nbsp;if the case goes to court.&nbsp;

Reacting to his video, Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner in a tweet said that Sunak was a "total liability".

The Liberal Democrats said that being the second prime minister of the country to be fined by the police, he has shown the same disregard for the rules, as Boris Johnson.&nbsp;

This is the second time the prime minister has received a fixed penalty notice.&nbsp;

He received one in April 2022, when he was fined along with then-prime minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carie for breaking Covid lockdown rules&nbsp;and attending a birthday party.

However, defending Sunak, Conservative MP for Blackpool South Benton said that "everybody makes mistakes." He added that police should focus on tackling serious crimes in the community.&nbsp;

In the UK, a fixed penalty notice is a sanction for breaking the law, a fine that needs to be paid within 28 days or contested. If someone chooses to contest the penalty, then the police will review the case and decide whether to withdraw the fine. 
 
The UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said, “Everyone should take seatbelt laws seriously, whoever and wherever they are.”

It was also found that few employees spoke to their spouses and partners about the draft opinion.&nbsp;

The report found no evidence to identify the culprit&nbsp;after examining court computer devices, networks, printers and available calls and log texts.

Scientists have recently discovered a new emperor penguin colony, using satellite images in one of the most remote and inaccessible regions in Antarctica, says a Guardian report.&nbsp;The colony around the coastline of Antarctica is estimated to be home to about 500 birds, which makes a total of 66 known emperor penguin colonies, half of which have been discovered by space satellites.&nbsp;

Dr Peter Fretwell&nbsp;of the British Antarctic Survey and the lead of the research, said, "This is an exciting discovery.&nbsp;[But] like many of the recently discovered sites, this colony is small and in a region badly affected by recent sea ice loss."

Emperor penguins are special because they are the only ones that breed on sea ice, rather than land They are located in regions that are very difficult to spot and study as they are remote, inaccessible and can witness temperatures as low as −60ºC.&nbsp;

According to the British Antarctica Survey (BAS), for the past 15 years, scientists have been looking for new colonies using satellite imagery for brown ‘guano stains’ (penguin poo) on the ice.

The last colony that was spotted was at Verleger Point, in west Antarctica. It was discovered on the basis of images from the European Commission’s Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite mission and was later confirmed on high-resolution images from the Maxar WorldView-3 satellite.

During breeding, these penguins need the ice to last between April and September to give their chicks time to grow to make them particularly vulnerable to climate breakdown.

On this, Fretwell said, "If the ice breaks up before that, the chicks fall into the water and drown or freeze."

The current climate is posing an existential threat to these penguin colonies, as the sea ice is rapidly melting. Since 2015, there have been drastic changes in the sea ice in Antarctica.

Fretwell added, “Last year, we had the worst ever sea ice conditions in Antarctica and this year is even worse.&nbsp;We’re still working on what that means for the penguins, but it’s not good."

Plastic waste has doubled globally in 20 years and only nine per cent is successfully&nbsp; recycled, according to the OECD group of developed countries.

The United Nations says the volume of plastic entering the oceans will nearly triple by 2040.

MacKay, 25, told AFP that the "huge problem" of plastic waste "really hasn't gotten that spotlight" in the dance world, and he believes performing arts can help inspire people to act.

"When you take a medium like&nbsp;ballet&nbsp;or dance, and you add it together with recycling or upcycling, you kind of force people to think, 'Well, what else can I do, what else works?'."

Back in November, past midnight in Tokyo's Harajuku fashion district, K-BALLET's chief producer Taiju Takano and scenographer Naoya Sakata went rooting through recycling bins to find their plastic props.

Joining staff from waste management company Shirai Eco Centre, they shook out tubs and sorted plastic bottles from piles of used coffee cups, aluminium cans and cigarette butts.

Sakata also used machine-recycled&nbsp;PET bottles provided by Shirai to construct the pixel-like&nbsp;bottle&nbsp;walls and huge letters that descended to spell "party people" in the upbeat finale of the show’s first half.

Overall, more than 10,000&nbsp;recycled&nbsp;and reused bottles were used in "Plastic", and 28-year-old Sakata said it made him realise the amount thrown away each day is "shocking".

Single-use plastic remains a huge problem in&nbsp;Japan, where even individual pieces of fruit frequently come packaged.

But&nbsp;Japan’s residents generate only a third of the plastic waste their American counterparts do, according to the OECD, and less than the average for the organisation’s European members.

Japan&nbsp;also collects and recycles more plastic than many countries, although often for "thermal recycling" where waste is burned for energy.

Takano, 27, said some elements of "Plastic" are intended to evoke old Japanese ideas of sustainability.

"A key word in our culture is 'mottainai'," which describes what a shame it is to waste things, he told AFP.

In the past, it was believed the spirit of an object "would appear as a ghost if you mistreated things and threw them away", he said.

MacKay said the stage design helped him see the plastic items in a different way.

"There's a certain kind of beauty... when light goes through these bottles and creates something that looks almost heavenly," he said.

"Our investigation is still ongoing, but the malicious activity appears to be fully contained at this time, and there is currently no evidence that the bad actor was able to breach or compromise our systems or our network," said the company.

While Reuters reported FCC or T-Mobile did not respond to a request for comment, the company's stock fell 2 per cent after market close.

Earlier this month, The Polish division of T-Mobile had been charged by the regulator for misleading advertisements about a free mobile data offer. The company might be fined 10 per cent of its annual revenue if found guilty.
