The hijab ban in schools and colleges of the southern state of Karnataka will continue&nbsp;as the Supreme Court of India on Thursday delivered a split verdict on the appeals against a high court decision upholding the state government's order prohibiting the wearing of&nbsp;headscarves in classes, and referred the matter to the Chief Justice of India for constituting a larger bench.

The two-judge bench differed on whether to uphold the ban on hijab in educational institutions or not.&nbsp;While Justice Hemant Gupta dismissed the appeals against the March 15 verdict of the Karnataka High Court that had refused to lift the ban and held that hijab is not part of "essential religious practice" in Islamic faith, Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia allowed the pleas and observed that it is ultimately a "matter of choice". 
 
"There is divergence of opinion," Justice Gupta, who was heading the bench, said at the outset while pronouncing the verdict on a batch of 26 petitions, reported the news agency PTI. 
 
On March 15, the Karnataka high court had dismissed the petitions filed by a section of Muslim students of the Government Pre-University Girls College in Karnataka's Udupi seeking permission to wear the hijab inside classrooms, ruling it is not a part of the essential religious practice in Islamic faith. 
 
The apex court had reserved its verdict on the pleas on September 22 after hearing arguments in the matter for 10 days. 
 
During the arguments in the top court, a number of counsel appearing for the petitioners had insisted that preventing Muslim girls from wearing the hijab in the classroom will put their education in jeopardy as they might stop attending classes.

The state government's order of February 5, 2022 was challenged by some Muslim girls in the high court.

Karnataka's&nbsp;education minister, BC Nagesh, said that the ban will continue until the Supreme Court makes a final decision.&nbsp;

The hijab row in Karnataka began in January this year when a government college forbade six females wearing hijabs from attending class. After this incident, several girls protested outside the entry over being denied entry.&nbsp;

Following this, several male students from numerous colleges in the region showed up wearing saffron scarves. With these many protests and agitations, the state government mandated all students to wear uniforms and banned both hijab and scarves until a permanent decision is made.

On the other hand, in a blog post its rival ride-hailing company, Lyft said, “Importantly this rule: Does not reclassify Lyft drivers as employees. Does not force Lyft to change our business model.”&nbsp;

This proposed law comes ahead of the upcoming elections, a major political&nbsp;battle in the United States. The pitched rule aims to overturn the present rule of the Trump administration that states that workers who own their own businesses or who can run one&nbsp;be considered a contractor.

TikTok said that it will take strong and appropriate action against the exploitative begging.&nbsp;

However, it did not reveal the exact amount. BBC carried out an experiment where it donated $106, which resulted that only $33 in the Syrian account and 69 per cent was taken by TikTok.&nbsp;

The reduction doesn't end here, the middlemen take 35 per cent of the remaining and then a further reduction of 10 per cent is made when the money was withdrawn from a local shop which left the family with only $19.

In a conversation with BBC, former rugby player Keith Mason donated $330 during his live stream, but later when he came to know about the reduction, he regarded that the company is being unfair to the families.&nbsp;

A Samsung India spokesperson said the company would roll out updates across all its 5G devices by mid-November.

Ministry of electronics and IT officials held a meeting on Wednesday dedicated to 5G adoption, which executives from&nbsp;Apple, Samsung, Vivo and Xiaomi, and telecom operators Reliance, Airtel and Vodafone Idea attended.

The agenda includes "prioritising" the release of software upgrades for supporting the high-speed network, the notice for the closed-door meeting stated.

While telecom players and smartphone makers have been holding discussions with each other, ironing out compatibility issues between the specific 5G technology of telecom companies in India and phone software is taking time, one of the industry sources said.

A Google spokesperson said on Wednesday: "Pixel 7, 7 Pro and Pixel 6a are 5G capable devices. We are actively working with the Indian carriers to enable functionality at the earliest."

As per media reports, it was believed that Alex was in Spain's Marbella since 2020. Several reports also suggest that he has escaped Spain as well.&nbsp;
