Israel has drafted a record 300,000 reservists in its response to a Hamas attack from Gaza and is "going on the offensive," the chief military spokesperson said on Monday.

Since Saturday's surprise assault, Israeli aircraft have been pounding Gaza targets while its ground forces have battled to retake control of border villages and towns overrun by Palestinian gunmen.

According to Hagari, 300,000 reservists have been called up by the military since Saturday.

Such a huge number suggests preparations for a possible invasion. however, any such plans have not been officially confirmed.

'Goodbye to my wife India': Israeli journalist 'who talks peace' called up to fight for nation amid war

The satellite data shows that this year's hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica has grown to become one of the biggest ever seen, with experts suggesting that the massive gap could have been caused by the eruption of Tonga's underwater volcano in early 2022.

Tonga was rocked by a massive underwater volcano last year in January and the eruption triggered Tsunami warnings. The dramatic explosion of the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai volcano was even seen in satellite images as the eruption sent smoke and ash into the air.
