Joseph Vijay at the Chief Minister's Office. HMIL emphasized its continued investment of over ₹26,000 crore in Tamil Nadu over the period of 2023 to 2032, which is a part of the ₹45,000 crore investment announced by the Company. The Tamil Nadu Government and HMIL also jointly announced an exclusive Skill Development collaboration to enhance the global employability of Tamil Nadu’s youth. This initiative will kick off operations in December 2027.&nbsp;“HMIL’s initiatives will strengthen Tamil Nadu’s leadership in sustainable mobility and automotive excellence, while also accelerating skill development to foster a future-ready workforce. Tamil Nadu’s principal opposition party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has announced that it will not be taking part in the June 8th New Delhi meeting of the Congress-led INDIA front, the country’s primary opposition bloc. Saying that the party had been invited for the meeting, DMK stated that it would be skipping it “out of respect for the feelings of the DMK party comrades who are deeply hurt by the betrayal committed by the Congress party against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after the assembly general elections held in Tamil Nadu.”&nbsp;&nbsp;Last month, actor-politician Vijay’s TVK emerged as the single-largest party in the Assembly polls, pushing the incumbent DMK to a distant second place. However, as Vijay’s debutant TVK party fell short of the majority mark, the Congress broke away from its decades-long alliance with the DMK and offered support to Vijay’s TVK to form the government.&nbsp;After forming a coalition government with direct support from Congress and external support from CPI, CPI(M), VCK, IUML, Vijay even inducted legislators from Congress, VCK, IUML as Ministers in his cabinet. Despite having only five legislators in a house of 234, Congress has two Ministers in Vijay’s cabinet, and the TVK has also allocated a Rajya Sabha berth to the Congress.&nbsp;After the Congress broke away from the DMK-led front to support the TVK, there has been a public exchange of words between the leaders of the two former allies. The firm's Chairman and Managing Director SN Subramanian met Chief Minister Vijay at the Secretariat on Thursday (4th June).The potential investments are for: a Data Center Expansion project in Kanchipuram district, near Chennai, that would come up at an investment of Rs.15,000cr and offer 500 jobs; a Rs.2,500cr facility to manufacture electronic products and electronic systems in Coimbatore, providing jobs to 2,000 people; and an expansion of L&amp;T's existing shipyard project at Kattupalli, near Chennai, at an investment of Rs.1,100cr and a potential to provide 5,700 jobs.Situated north of Chennai city, the L&amp;T Kattupalli shipbuilding and ship repair facility builds vessels of various classes for the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. Additionally, the facility also has agreements with the US Navy to repair their ships. Over the last few years, three US Navy ships have undergone repairs here. Auxiliary ships of the UK Royal Navy have also undergone repairs at this facility. The aforementioned foreign Naval vessels had undergone what are known as voyage repairs, which are short-term repairs that last a few weeks. They are a cost-effective way to fix mechanical, electrical, or structural issues, helping vessel operators avoid expensive detours.During their meeting, Chief Minister Vijay thanked and appreciated L&amp;T for their continued investments and strong foothold in Tamil Nadu's industrial sector. He also assured the full support and cooperation of the State Government for the future growth and expansion plans of the firm in the state. Indian Space agency ISRO has procured and operationalised a Russian-origin ‘RusBeam 2800’ industrial 3D printer that is capable of producing large-scale parts up to 2.8 metres in height and weighing up to four tonnes (4,000kg), including components with complex geometries. This 3-D printer, based on Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing technology (EBAM), will be used to manufacture metal parts for India’s aerospace industry. This machine uses high-energy electron beams to completely melt metal powder layer-by-layer to produce fully dense, high-strength metal parts. The advanced 3-D printer was supplied by the Fuel Division of the Russian Nuclear Power agency Rosatom, following an international tender process.&nbsp;Typical manufacturing is subtractive in nature, which means that the end product is obtained by using sophisticated cutting tools to chisel out a large block of metal into the desired shape and size. This method is best suited for high-volume mass production, high precision, and large parts. However, this process generates a lot of waste, as excess material is cut away.&nbsp;&nbsp;As the name suggests, Additive Manufacturing (3-D printing) is a process where objects are built layer-by-layer to minimize waste. This ensures that only the necessary amount of material is consumed for putting together the end product.
