<p>Democrat US Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer proposed his name to the request made for drone detection technology. </p>
<p>Florida's Congressman Mike Waltz, who was chosen as the incoming national security adviser of the White House, said that the drone issue throws light on gaps in security between local law enforcement and federal agencies.</p>
<p>Speaking in CBS’s Face the Nation, he said, “Americans are finding it hard to believe we can’t figure out where these are coming from. From the defence department's standpoint, they’re focused on bombers and cruise missiles. It’s pointing to gaps in our capabilities and in our ability to clamp down on what’s going on here.”</p>
<p>Speaking to ABC News, the US domestic security chief said that there are “thousands of drones flown every day in the United States, recreational drones, commercial drones”. </p>

<p>Israeli strikes on the Syrian military sites filled the skies with 'colossal' explosions as the blasts got registered on earthquake sensors,  according to a war monitor group.</p></p>
<p>The military sites located in the coastal Tartus region were targeted by what was one of "the heaviest strikes" in the Syrian area in more than a decade, said Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.</p>
<p>"Israeli warplanes launched strikes' targeting a series of sites including air defence units and 'surface-to-surface missile depots," the war monitor said in what it called "the heaviest strikes in Syria's coastal region since the start of strikes in 2012."</p>

<p>He said the signal travelled nearly 'twice as fast' as that of a normal earthquake.</p>
<p>In 1971, the Soviet Union was the one to first establish a naval military base in Tartus.</p>
<p>The facility had been classed as a "Material-Technical Support Point" till 2017 and not as a base, and is the only entrance point to the Mediterranean for Russia.</p>
<p>The centre was used for carrying out the supply and delivery of armaments after Russia participated in the Syrian civil war in 2015.</p>
<p>A Kremlin spokesperson said on Wednesday (Dec 11) that Moscow has been in touch with the new authorities in Syria and discussing the future of their bases.</p>

<p>“It is mandatory for Naxal cadres to have ‘nasbandi’ (vasectomy) if they want to get married. The leaders don't want any member being involved emotionally with his offspring,” said Markam Dula, who is a surrendered Naxal from Sukma district of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, while speaking to PTI.</p>

<p>A former female Maoist from Malkangiri, Odisha, informed Shah that she had got married to a fellow cadre who had undergone a vasectomy.</p>
<p>Eventually, her husband got killed in a police encounter and she decided to surrender, said the woman.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, another former Maoist from Telangana remembered how he had gotten his vasectomy done and then got it reversed after he entered the mainstream.</p>
<p>“When I was a member of the CPI (Maoist), I had to go for 'nasbandi'. But after I gave up arms and joined the mainstream, I underwent another operation so that I could become a father. After the second operation, I became the father of a boy," he said.</p>
<p>Minister Amit Shah also met a group of former Maoists at an event in Jagdalpur city of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh on Sunday (Dec 15).</p>

<p>"Throughout, I have emphasised that reforms should take place first before the arrangements for an election. <p>A team of archaeologists analysed around 3,000 fragments of bones that were discovered at a cave system known as Charterhouse Warren in the Mendip Hills, Somerset.</p>

<p>As per experts, there was no evidence of fightback in the newly identified attack, which further concluded that the attackers took victims by surprise.</p>

<p>The cut marks and scrapes on the bones indicate that the victims were systematically dismembered by the attackers with the use of stone tools and then consumed.</p>

<p>"If we saw these marks on animal bones, we'd have no question that they were butchered," Prof. Schulting said.</p>

<p>As per scientists, hunger was not the reason behind this cannibalism, as the fragments were lying alongside animal bones, which indicated sufficient food.</p>

<p>This is the first documented case of extensive dismembering of the bodies in this era. Because of this, experts suspected that the violence happened because of a huge breakdown in relationships.</p>

<p>"This was something exceptional. This level of almost erasing the person, literally chopping them into pieces, seems like something you would only do if fuelled by anger, fear and resentment," said Prof. Schulting.</p>

<p>“When I was a member of the CPI (Maoist), I had to go for 'nasbandi'. But after I gave up arms and joined the mainstream, I underwent another operation so that I could become a father. After the second operation, I became the father of a boy," he said.</p>
