<p>China has been constructing the largest artificial island airport in the world to solidify the position of the northeastern city as a regional transport hub.</p></p>
<p>Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport will be built on an entire island which is spread over an area of 20 sq km (7.72 square miles), as per the website of Liaoning provincial government. </p>
<p>This airport will be bigger than the 10.5 sq km Kansai Airport near Osaka, Japan and the 12.48 sq km Hong Kong International Airport, which occupies artificial islands.</p>
<p>“For Dalian people to say it’s the largest, that’s exactly what it is,” said aviation consultancy founder Li Hanming.</p>
<p>The airport, which is under construction, will work as the port city of Dalian because its location will bring business from nearby South Korea and Japan. </p>

<p>The city which has a population of more than 6 million is situated on a peninsula at the northern end of the Bohai Strait and has turned into a hub for logistics services, coastal tourism, shipping and oil refineries. </p>
<p>Jinzhouwan was the first airport which was built on an offshore artificial island in mainland China, It will now have four runways and a 900,000 square metre (9.69 million sq ft) terminal, said the website.</p>
<p>It stated that the airport would turn into a “regional air transport hub” with a “superior geographic location”.</p>
<h2><strong>All about the new artificial island airport </strong></h2>
<p>The airport's terminal buildings will be able to accommodate 43 million passengers every year initially, which is more than double in comparison to the existing airport. Eventually, the terminal's capacity will increase to 80 million every year, as per Airports Council International, which is a global industry group with headquarters in Canada. </p>
<p>It said that every year one million tonnes of cargo will later be able to pass through the airport. </p>

<p>The council added that Jinzhouwan airport will cost US$4.3 billion and will be ready by 2035.</p>
<p>As of August, “deep foundation treatment” has been completed on a 77,000 square metre reclamation area, according to the provincial government website. It added that they are planning to carry out land reclamation and the foundation of the terminal building that month. </p>
<p>The current Dalian Zhoushuizi Airport had opened around a century ago when it was under Japanese occupation and its design has now reached its capacity after several expansions.</p>
<p>Last year it managed 658,000 people travelling to or from other regions or countries, reported Xinhua. </p>
<p>Li said that pilots were finding it “hard to navigate” since it is in a valley that is “blocked by nearby mountains”, and added that its location can make flights “quite dangerous during adverse weather”.</p>

<p>China has now decided to offer 10 days of visa-free travel to international travellers who are coming from 54 countries, announced the National Immigration Administration (NIA) on Tuesday (Dec 17).</p></p>
<p>The NIA stated that passport holders from 54 countries, which includes Australia, Japan, the United States and countries across Europe, can now remain in some areas of mainland China for up to 10 days when transiting through one of the 60 international ports of the country. </p>

<h2><strong>Here's what China is offering the world in its new travel policies </strong></h2>
<p>The NIA added that eligible passport holders are free to get visa-free transit visiting family members, business or tourism but they will need visas for media interviews, study and work. </p>
<p>It has also added 21 more ports of entry and exit which has brought the total number to 60. </p>
<p>As per the new measures, travellers will be allowed to stay in 24 provincial regions during transit. The government has added five new regions to the list which includes the southern island province of Hainan, the northern province of Shanxi, the southwestern province of Guizhou and the eastern provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu.</p>
<p>The changes will “improve the convenience of entry … and attract more foreigners to travel, do business, visit and exchange with China”, said NIA spokesman Mao Xu on Tuesday morning (Dec 17). </p>

<p>Mr Christmas LLC and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have been warning customers regarding these gadgets which have been produced by Mr. Christmas LLC, who is from Memphis, Tennessee, because they contain wireless receivers which carry the chances of overheating after getting connected to any outlet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The&nbsp;company received an alert regarding 10 instances of overheating, one of which also caused a fire. No one suffered injuries in the incident and the recall was voluntarily initiated&nbsp;by Mr. Christmas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company has appealed to the customers to stop using the product immediately and give it back to the shop where they purchased it, which will give them a full refund.</p>

<p>The recall will impact around 44,600 units sold at Walmart, Target and Cracker Barrel stores as well as online. The shops had sold the affected batch between July and November.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A new discovery has been made by scientists in an "exceptionally violent" attack which took place around 4,000 years ago in Somerset when around 37 people died. The scientists are now suggesting that these people were not just killed but butchered and likely eaten.</p></p>
<p>This was the largest incidence of violence identified between human beings in the early Bronze Age in England. The period was considered peaceful.</p>
<p>The bones of the victims were discovered by the cavers in the 1970s. According to experts, the people were thrown inside a shaft, which was 15 metres deep, by the prehistoric attackers.</p>
<p>The massacre of people was instigated by a furious "desire for revenge" and its effects most probably "echoed through generations", said Professor Rick Schulting at Oxford University.</p>
<p>He said that victims are likely to have been eaten as part of a ritual to "dehumanise" them and was aimed at sending a message by "insulting the remains".</p>

<p>A team of archaeologists analysed around 3,000 fragments of bones that were discovered at a cave system known as Charterhouse Warren in the Mendip Hills, Somerset.</p>
<p>As per experts, there was no evidence of fightback in the newly identified attack, which further concluded that the attackers took victims by surprise.</p>
<p>The cut marks and scrapes on the bones indicate that the victims were systematically dismembered by the attackers with the use of stone tools and then consumed.</p>
<p>"If we saw these marks on animal bones, we'd have no question that they were butchered," Prof. Schulting said.</p>
<h2><strong>What triggered the cannibalism? </strong></h2>
<p>As per scientists, hunger was not the reason behind this cannibalism, as the fragments were lying alongside animal bones, which indicated sufficient food.</p>
<p>This is the first documented case of extensive dismembering of the bodies in this era. Because of this, experts suspected that the violence happened because of a huge breakdown in relationships.</p>
<p>"This was something exceptional. This level of almost erasing the person, literally chopping them into pieces, seems like something you would only do if fuelled by anger, fear and resentment," said Prof. Schulting.</p>

Scientists have tried to uncover the reason behind the largest incidence of violence which took place between human beings in England in the early Bronze Age

 



London, England A new discovery has been made by scientists in an "exceptionally violent" attack which took place around 4,000 years ago in Somerset when around 37 people died. The scientists are now suggesting that these people were not just killed but butchered and likely eaten. This was the largest incidence of violence identified between human beings in the early Bronze Age in England. The period was considered peaceful. The bones of the victims were discovered by the cavers in the 1970s. According to experts, the people were thrown inside a shaft, which was 15 metres deep, by the prehistoric attackers. The massacre of people was instigated by a furious "desire for revenge" and its effects most probably "echoed through generations", said Professor Rick Schulting at Oxford University. He said that victims are likely to have been eaten as part of a ritual to "dehumanise" them and was aimed at sending a message by "insulting the remains". As per experts, there was no evidence of fightback in the newly identified attack, which further concluded that the attackers took victims by surprise. The cut marks and scrapes on the bones indicate that the victims were systematically dismembered by the attackers with the use of stone tools and then consumed. "If we saw these marks on animal bones, we'd have no question that they were butchered," Prof. Schulting said. What triggered the cannibalism? As per scientists, hunger was not the reason behind this cannibalism, as the fragments were lying alongside animal bones, which indicated sufficient food. This is the first documented case of extensive dismembering of the bodies in this era. Because of this, experts suspected that the violence happened because of a huge breakdown in relationships. "This was something exceptional. This level of almost erasing the person, literally chopping them into pieces, seems like something you would only do if fuelled by anger, fear and resentment," said Prof. Schulting.
