The issue related to abortion is highly sensitive considering the presence of both Catholic social conservatives and left-wingers in an alliance.

"Everything cannot be reduced to one denominator," said Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, leader of the centre-right Polish Peasants' Party (PSL), which contested the election as part of a coalition called Third Way.

"In our agreement, we found a common denominator for the issues we want to implement. They concern support for families, employees, entrepreneurs, the Polish countryside, education, health care and women's rights."

<h2>Roles as per new agreement</h2>

As per the agreement signed, Kosiniak-Kamysz will serve as deputy prime minister, as will Krzystof Gawkowski from the New Left.

The position of parliament speaker will be shared between Third Way's Szymon Holownia and the New left's Wlodzimierz Czarzasty with each taking up the role for two years respectively.

President Andrzej Duda has provided the ruling nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party with the first move at constructing a government. However, PiS lacks a majority and with all the other parties having refused to work with it, its job seems next to impossible.

If Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki does not win a vote of confidence, parliament will appoint another government.

Tusk, former prime minister and ex-head of the European Council, has accused Duda of "playing for time" in selecting Morawiecki.

ISRO, while sharing an update on the recent development, noted that during its first observation period from Oct 29, the High Energy L1 Orbiting X-ray Spectrometer (HEL1OS) on board Aditya-L1 spacecraft has recorded the impulsive phase of solar flares.

“Commissioned on October 27, 2023, HEL1OS is currently undergoing fine-tuning of thresholds and calibration operations. The instrument is set to monitor the Sun's high-energy X-ray activity with fast timing and high-resolution spectra,” ISRO said in a statement.

Earlier in Oct, Aditya-L1 escaped the sphere of Earth's influence.

<h2>Aditya-L1 mission</h2>

India’s maiden sun mission was launched on September 2 from the Second Launch Pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota.&nbsp;

It is equipped with seven scientific payloads developed indigenously by the ISRO and various national research laboratories, including the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) and the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), in the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Pune, respectively.

These payloads are designed to study the photosphere, chromosphere, and the outermost layers of the Sun, known as the corona, using electromagnetic, particle, and magnetic field detectors.

Positioned at the advantageous L1 point, four of these payloads will directly observe the Sun, while the remaining three will conduct in-situ studies of particles and fields at Lagrange point L1.&nbsp;

ISRO's Aditya-L1 spacecraft captures first high-energy X-ray glimpse of solar flares

The United Nations on Monday (Nov 6) sounded the alarm on the intensification of disinformation and hate speech online and announced a plan to curb its spread.

This came after a global survey showed that more than 85% of people were concerned about online disinformation's impact and 87% believed that it had already scarred the political scenario in their country.

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO said that hate speech online and false information constitute "a major threat to stability and social cohesion". &nbsp;

"Digital technology has enabled immense progress on freedom of speech. But social media platforms have also accelerated and amplified the spread of false information and hate speech, posing major risks to societal cohesion, peace and stability," Azoulay told reporters on Monday.&nbsp;

"To protect access to information, we must regulate these platforms without delay, while at the same time protecting freedom of expression and human rights," she added.

A survey conducted by pollster Ipsos of 8,000 people residing in countries including Austria, Croatia, the US, Algeria, Mexico, Ghana and India, uncovered that around 56 per cent of internet users consumed news via social media platforms, whereas only 44 per cent of the people got it from TV channels and 29 per cent from news websites.

The organisation, while expressing concern over the situation, said that there was a dire need for effective regulation to control the dissemination of disinformation as the survey showed how social media was the main source of news for the majority of the people in almost all the countries.

However, across these 16 countries where the survey was conducted and which are also due to hold national polls next year, 68 per cent of the respondents agreed that social media was not a reliable source of information and that these platforms were mainly home to false information.

“People are very concerned about disinformation, across every country and social category – age, education, rural or urban,” said Mathieu Gallard of Ipsos. “They are especially worried during elections – and they want all actors to fight it.”

<h2>Action plan</h2>

UNESCO said that its seven key principles must be respected so that "the impact on human rights becomes the compass for all decision-making, at every stage and by every stakeholder."

"Our work has been guided by one central requirement: the protection at all times of freedom of expression and all other human rights. Restricting or limiting speech would be a terrible solution. Having media outlets and information tools that are independent, qualitative and free, is the best long-term response to disinformation," the Director-General underscored.

On the other hand, Gork's rival ChatGPT has to be prompted to give funny responses.&nbsp;

A product of Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI, Gork is trained to use X in real-time which gives it an edge over its rival by giving the user up-to-date information.

Interestingly, Musk co-founded OpenAI, the tech giant behind ChatGPT, in 2015 but stepped down from the company's board in 2018 to focus on his venture Tesla.&nbsp;

"In some important respects, it (xAI's new model) is the best that currently exists," Musk posted on his X social media platform while unveiling Gork.

ChatGPT was made available to the public in Nov 2022, on the contrary, Grok is currently in its beta phase and will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers once it exits the phase.

"As soon as it’s out of early beta, xAI's Grok system will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers," Musk posted.

<h2>Pricing difference</h2>

Grok, after exiting its beta phase, will be accessible for X's premium subscribers, which the users can purchase at a monthly cost of $16, as per a new subscription plan announced by the social media firm last week.

Whereas, OpenAI's ChatGPT offers two options to the users, a basic, free version with limited real-time data updates, and a premium variant which can be purchased for a $20 per month subscription.

Musk started his artificial intelligence venture xAI in July this year after hiring researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Tesla and the University of Toronto.

X and xAI have been closely working together, even though the two are separate firms. xAI has also collaborated with Tesla and other organisations previously.

Recently, during a sit-down interaction with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the tech mogul underlined the looming fear that comes along with the advancement of AI, the loss of jobs.

Musk, calling the artificial intelligence "one of the most disruptive forces in the country," said that there will come a point when no jobs are needed.

“It’s hard to say exactly what that moment is, but there will come a point where no job is needed. You can have a job if you want to have a job for personal satisfaction. But the AI would be able to do everything,” he said during an interaction with the UK PM.

A former Metropolitan Police officer was on Monday (Nov 6) found guilty of sending an offensive racist message in a group chat.

Michael Chadwell, from Liss, Hampshire, shared the message in a personal WhatsApp group chat, which included retired Met officers, on Sep 28, 2022, as per PA news agency reports.

He shared a graphic, which allegedly was created by someone else, showing parrots in different colours placed above pictures of children of different races.

According to the local media reports, the text superimposed on top of the parrots read, “Why do we cherish the variety of colour in every species… but our own?”

Under which someone's comment read, “Because I have never had a bike stolen out of my front yard by a parrot”.

The 62-year-old had denied one count of sending by public communication grossly offensive racist messages. However, he was found guilty after a trial at City of London Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Nov 6).

Chadwell, who had retired from the Metropolitan Police Service in Nov 2015, during the trial said, “The reason I’ve come here today is because I don’t believe that joke is racist.”

“The reason I’ve sent the joke is because what’s written underneath is silly, it’s a riposte, someone has written something funny underneath,” he was quoted as saying by PA news agency.

“Whilst agreeing with the imagery in the first part, what’s written underneath is a piece of silliness that’s been said about it," he added.

The 62-year-old had denied one count of sending by public communication grossly offensive racist messages. A second flight carrying nine tonnes of emergency relief materials by India landed in Nepal on Monday (Nov 6).

India's External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar took to his official X handle and reiterated New Delhi's steadfast support to Nepal after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake, on Friday evening (Nov 3), claimed the lives of at least 153 people and wounded over 250 others in the Himalayan country.

The relief materials, which were transported via special Indian Air Force C-130, included essential medical and hygiene supplies, tents, sleeping bags and blankets.

The first consignment of more than 11 tonnes of relief materials provided by India comprised tents, tarpaulin sheets, blankets, and sleeping bags along with essential medicines and medical equipment. It was handed over to the Government of Nepal on Sunday (Nov 5).

<h2>Nepal records another earthquake in a week</h2>

On Monday (Nov 6), as per India's National Centre for Seismology, an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude struck Nepal, and its ripples were felt across northern India.&nbsp;

Notably, the earthquake was recorded in Nepal at 4.14 pm (local time) around the same location where a 6.4 magnitude struck on Friday (Nov 3), killing at least 153 people in the Himalayan country.

Jajarkot, in Karnali province, was one of the worst-hit areas in Friday's earthquake.

<h2>Second earthquake in a week&nbsp;</h2>

The first earthquake this week occurred with a magnitude of 6.4, Nepal's National Seismological Centre said. The German Research Centre for Geosciences measured the quake at 5.7, downgrading it from 6.2, while the US Geological Survey pegged it at 5.6.

Officials fear that the death toll in Friday's earthquake in Jajarkot could rise, as they had not been able to establish contact in the hilly area near the epicentre, some 500 km (300 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu. The district has a population of 190,000 with villages scattered in remote hills.

Nepal is situated on the boundary of two tectonic plates — the Asian and Indo-Australian plates. The collision of these two plates caused the Himalayas to rise up, with Tibet at its southern edge.

Second consignment of emergency relief materials from India arrives in Nepal

India's Chhattisgarh on Tuesday (Nov 7) recorded around 71 per cent voter turnout in its first phase of assembly elections for 20 constituencies whereas in Mizoram 77.04 per cent of voters exercised their franchise, as per the data released by the Election Commission of India at 5 pm IST.

In Chhattisgarh, the voting was held for 10 constituencies from 7 am to 4 pm in 10 seats and from 8 am to 5 pm in the other 10 segments.

“A 70.87 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm in the first phase of the Chhattisgarh elections on Tuesday. However, this figure may go up as the final data from several booths was yet to be received," a poll official said.

On the other hand, in Mizoram, the polls were held for all 40 assembly seats. The elections in both states kickstarted the process of voting in the round of assembly elections with three other states, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana, which are scheduled to go to polls later this month.

In Chhattisgarh, the polling will decide the fate of former Chief Minister Raman Singh and BJP leaders Bhawna Bohra, Lata Usendi and Gautam Uike. The notable Congress leaders in the battle in this phase include Mohammad Akbar, Savitri Manoj Mandavi, Mohan Markam, Vikram Mandavi and Kawasi Lakhma.&nbsp;

"The duties of prime minister are not compatible with any suspicion of my integrity," Costa told a press conference.

Portugal's head of state Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa accepted Costa's resignation further calling for a meeting of parliamentary parties on Wednesday (Nov 8) in a bid to organise an early election, said a statement from the Portuguese presidency as per news agency AFP reports.

"The President of the Republic will address the nation immediately after the meeting of the Council of State," the statement added.&nbsp;
