"Sixteen people were injured when three aftershocks with more than 4 magnitude hit Jajarkot in Western Nepal on Monday afternoon. Ten people were injured in Rukum West and six others were injured in Jajarkot," said officials from the security agencies. Nepal was jolted by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake just before midnight last Friday. Since then the nation has felt several aftershocks.

The earthquake, which hit Jajarkot and Rukum West districts in western Nepal, also damaged around 8,000 houses, both public and private, according to officials.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has called an all-party meeting on Tuesday to discuss the aftermath of the Jajarkot earthquake and the latest developments, said Saurya Kiran Sharma, the press coordinator of Prime Minister Prachanda.

The meeting will mainly discuss matters relating to relief and rehabilitation works to be carried out after the earthquake.

On Tuesday, President Ramchandra Paudel will be leaving Kathmandu on an inspection tour to the earthquake-hit districts, Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim, Tuesday afternoon.

In the wake of the Jajarkot earthquake, President Paudel also cancelled his scheduled 10-day visit to Europe starting on Wednesday.

The Indian government has issued an advisory to social media firms, including X, Instagram and Facebook, calling all these giants to remove morphed images within 24 hours, said an official source on Tuesday (Nov 7).

"IT Intermediary Rules: Rule 3(1)(b)(vii): Social media intermediary shall observe due diligence including ensuring the rules and regulations, privacy policy or user agreement of the intermediary inform users not to host any content that impersonates another person," sources said.

"Rule 3(2)(b): Intermediary shall, within 24 hours from the receipt of a complaint in relation to any content ... in the nature of impersonation in an electronic form, including artificially morphed images of such individuals, take all .. measures to remove or disable access to such content," it added.

The sources said that the advisory issued to social media companies reiterated the existing rules including &nbsp;66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000: Punishment for cheating by personation by using computer resources: imprisonment of up to 3 years and a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh. &nbsp;

The advisory states that the social media giants should take necessary steps to remove content from their respective platforms which in any way depicts impersonation of any kind or artificially morphed images of people, within 24 hours from the receipt of a complaint.

It further mentioned that the social media giants should observe due diligence, make sure the rules and regulations are followed, and that users are warned against hosting any content that impersonates another person on their respective handles.

"MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) will act after social media companies fail to act as per the rule," the source said.

This came after a deep fake video of actress Rashmika Mandanna surfaced online and went viral.

Reacting to the video, the actor shared a note on Monday which read, "I feel hurt to share this and have to talk about the deep fake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."

"Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well-wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can't imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."

Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday (Nov 6) reacting to the actress' video said that social media firms are bound to remove any misinformation.

He said that if the platforms fail to comply with IT rules notified in April 2023, Rule 7 will apply and platforms can be taken to court by aggrieved users under provisions of IPC.

"Deepfakes are the latest and even more dangerous and damaging form of misinformation and need to be dealt with by platforms," the minister had said.

Harvard alumnus and hedge fund manager Bill Ackman wrote an open letter urging university president Claudine Gay to take strict measures to reduce antisemitism on campus.

Taking to his official X handle, Ackman said that after spending several hours with the students and faculty, he felt that the situation at his alma mater was " dire and getting worse".

"For the past four weeks since the horrors of October 7th, I have been in dialogue with members of the corporation board, other alumni, as well as students and faculty sharing and comparing our concerns about the growing number of antisemitic incidents on campus, as we wait for you and the University to act. A spate of incidents related to antisemitism have been reported in several US campuses after the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched unprecedented attacks against Israel from the Gaza Strip on Oct 7 further provoking a counter-offensive from the Israeli military.

A University of Massachusetts Amherst student was arrested after he allegedly punched a Jewish student and spit on an Israeli flag following a demonstration in the campus on Friday (Nov 3).

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) also decided to halt the sale of visitor entry passes at the Delhi airport till Nov 30.

Reportedly, the sources also said that the entry of visitors to the terminal building of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will also be banned till Nov 30.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) also issued a circular in this regard on Monday (Nov 6), as per PTI reports.

In addition to the primary security checks, there will be a Secondary Ladder Point Check in place for the passengers travelling on Air India flights at the IGIA and airports in Punjab, said the sources.

According to the reports, as far as the ban on temporary airport entry passes at the Delhi airport is concerned, a relaxation would be put in place for operational purposes for government functionaries.

Israel's war with Hamas will cost around $51 billion: Report

South Africa on Monday (Nov 6) announced that it would recall its diplomats from Israel in a bid to express concerns over the upsurge of violence in the West Bank.

"The South African government has decided to withdraw all its diplomats in Tel Aviv for consultation," Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, a minister in the president's office, told a press briefing without providing further details.

The South African government also said that the position of the Israeli ambassador to the country was becoming "more and more untenable", condemning the diplomat for making "disparaging remarks" about people denouncing Israel.&nbsp;

South Africa has been an advocate for peace in the Middle East and has also strongly supported the Palestinian cause, linking it to its struggle against apartheid.

South Africa recalls diplomats from Israel, to assess relationship with country

The Israeli Defence Forces on Sunday (Nov 5) said it has uncovered Hamas' hidden network of tunnels, rocket launchers and command centres adjoining hospitals in the northern part of war-torn Gaza.

"Hamas systematically exploits hospitals as part of its war machine," Israel's chief military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari claimed.

During a press briefing in Tel Aviv, Hagari presented videos, photographs and audio recordings which he claimed illustrated the Palestinian militant group's strategy of using hospitals as shelter and deterring civilians from leaving war zones.

He further said that during the war, around 800 rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza, which fell short and landed inside the enclave, claiming the lives of many Palestinians.&nbsp;

As per news agency Reuters, the Hamas group, which is backed by Iran, manufactures some of its rockets locally and also receives some from abroad.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hagari also levelled some accusations against two other hospitals in Gaza, the Qatari-funded Sheikh Hamad Hospital and another built by groups from Indonesia.

"This is a satellite image of the hospital complex taken after the massacre of the seventh of October. I am going to zoom in on the area here, ok? Across the street, only 75 metres - 80 metres to the hospital," Hagari said.

<h2>Hamas rebuffs allegations</h2>

Late last month, the Israeli Army had levelled similar allegations against Hamas, saying the militant group is abusing hospitals in the Gaza Strip for military purposes.

"Hamas has turned hospitals into command and control centres and hideouts for Hamas terrorists and commanders," Hagari had told a news conference.

He specifically identified Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in Gaza, as one from which Hamas militants were operating.

"Hamas has turned hospitals into command and control centres and hideouts for Hamas terrorists and commanders. Additionally, I can confirm that according to the intelligence we have in our hands, there is fuel in hospitals in Gaza," Hagari said.

"Hamas terrorists operate inside and under Shifa Hospital and other hospitals in Gaza," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also took to his official X account and shared an illustration-based video showing how the militant group used Shifa Hospital as a shelter for its military operations from both above and below the ground.

"Hamas-ISIS is sick. They turn hospitals into headquarters for their terror. We just released intelligence proving it. Hamas rejects," he wrote in a posting.

Israel claims it uncovered Hamas' tunnels beneath and near hospitals in Gaza

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday (Nov 6) met with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan during his visit to Ankara where he discussed efforts to expand the humanitarian aid reaching trapped civilians in war-torn Gaza.

"We discussed...efforts to significantly expand the humanitarian assistance to people in need, and efforts to prevent the conflict expanding to other parts of the region and what we can do to set the conditions for a durable, sustainable, lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians," Blinken later told reporters at the airport before departing Ankara.

The meeting between the top US diplomat and Fidan lasted for about two and a half hours which was mainly focused upon calming the tensions between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas. The talks also involved discussion on ways to prevent the escalation of war in the West Bank.

At the airport, while talking to reporters, Blinken said that Washington has made some good progress on humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

"We are working very aggressively on getting more humanitarian assistance in Gaza. And we have very concrete ways of doing that. And I think we'll see in the days ahead that assistance can expand in significant ways," he said.&nbsp;

<h2>US aware of Turkey's concern for terrible toll in Gaza</h2>

After the meeting, Blinken told reporters that the United States was aware of "the deep concern" in Turkey "for the terrible toll" in Gaza.

"We are working, as I said, very aggressively on getting more humanitarian assistance into Gaza and we have very concrete ways of doing that," Blinken said before boarding a plane for Japan.

"I think we will see in the days ahead that the assistance can expand in significant ways," he added without providing details.&nbsp;

Fidan also pressed Blinken for "an immediate ceasefire in Gaza", reported news agency AFP citing a Turkish diplomatic source.

"Fidan also pointed out to his US counterpart Blinken that bombing civilian targets and destroying infrastructure in Gaza is unacceptable," the Turkish source said.

No talks took place between Blinken and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who has denounced Washington for its "unlimited support to Israel".

NATO member Turkey has voiced support for Palestine and has been a staunch critic of Israel and its counter-offensive against the Palestinian militant group in the Gaza Strip.

Dozens of protesters took to the streets and marched on an air base housing US forces in southeastern Turkey hours before Blinken's arrival on Sunday.

Antony Blinken meets Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, discusses efforts to expand aid in Gaza

Palestinian militant group Hamas on Sunday (Nov 5) said that the Israeli military was carrying out "intense bombings" around several hospitals in the north of the Gaza Strip, immediately after internet and phone lines were cut.&nbsp;

"For more than an hour, intense bombings have been taking place around hospitals," said Salama Marouf, the head of the Hamas government's media office.

Israel cut telecommunications in the besieged Palestinian enclave on Sunday night for the third time since the war broke out.

"We regret to announce the complete shutdown of communications and internet services in Gaza after the Israeli side disconnected the servers," Paltel said in a statement.

This came after Israel accused Hamas of using hospitals for their military operations.
