Alexsej Besciokov, a 46-year-old Lithuanian national, was on vacation with his family, when he was arrested by Varkala police on Tuesday evening. Moreover, he is a Russian resident.&nbsp;
Besciokov is also the co-founder of Garantex, a cryptocurrency exchange sanctioned by the US government in 2022.&nbsp;

Between 2019 and 2025, Besciokov allegedly &ldquo;controlled and operated&rdquo; Garantex, enabling the laundering of at least $96 billion in cryptocurrency for transnational criminal groups, including terrorist organisations, and violating sanctions, as per US Secret Service documents, according to Reuters.

Iran has received the letter given by US President Donald Trump by Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, Iran&rsquo;s foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.&nbsp;
Earlier in the day, Iran&rsquo;s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that an Arab intermediary will deliver Trump's letter to Tehran.&nbsp;
The letter was given to Gargash by Trump&rsquo;s Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff, who was in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Axios reported.
Gargash met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi today, Iranian state media said. However, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei did not give further details about their meeting.

"Both countries&rsquo; presidents agreed to conclude as soon as possible a comprehensive agreement for developing Ukraine&rsquo;s critical mineral resources to expand Ukraine&rsquo;s economy, offset the cost of American assistance, and guarantee Ukraine&rsquo;s long-term prosperity and security," it added.&nbsp;
Earlier during the talks, a senior aide in Zelensky's presidential office stressed that work is in "progress", hinting that the Ukraine peace talks were going well, days after Trump-Zelensky's showdown at the White House.

After arriving in Saudi Arabia, Yermak said that a ceasefire has never seemed closer in the three-year war the Russian Federation has waged on Ukraine.&nbsp;
"A ceasefire in Ukraine will not come through diplomatic gestures alone. A number of conditions are crucial beforehand in order to ensure that peace&mdash;when it comes&mdash;is lasting. This includes putting political and financial pressure on Russia to raise the cost of renewed conflict," he told the Guardian.&nbsp;
A stronger, safer and more resilient Europe&mdash;militarily, politically and economically&mdash;is our shared goal. Securing a meaningful ceasefire is the first step. This requires a Europe that is economically and politically resilient. Europe must be prepared to act to deliver its own security, and Russia must understand the political and economic cost of using force to achieve its ends," he added.&nbsp;

Ukraine backs US proposal for 30-day ceasefire, Washington restores military aid, intel sharing

A passenger train carrying hundreds of people was hijacked by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on Tuesday (March 11). The BLA later claimed that the gunmen were holding 182 passengers as hostages and had killed 20 military personnel, according to ANI.&nbsp;
The gunmen opened fire on the Jaffar Express and threatened to execute all hostages if security forces didn't retreat.&nbsp;
Following the attack, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the banned terrorist organisation, claimed responsibility while claiming to have hijacked the train.

"After capturing the Jaffar Express, the fighters of the Baloch Liberation Army have taken 182 hostages who have been in our custody for the past six hours. During this operation, an additional eight Pakistani military personnel were eliminated, bringing the total number of enemy casualties to over 20," the BLA said in its statement.
AK Shaheen, the Media Coordinator for Sibbi District said that the driver of the train has been killed in the firing, while multiple people have been injured.

<h2>What does BLA want?</h2>
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants have set a 48-hour deadline, seeking the "immediate and unconditional release of Baloch political prisoners, forcibly disappeared persons and national resistance activists", in exchange for the hostages.
The BLA further said that they are confronting the Pakistani Air Force using anti-aircraft artillery.&nbsp;
"Throughout the ongoing operation, intense confrontations have taken place with the Pakistani Air Force, with our fighters using anti-aircraft artillery and inflicting severe losses on the enemy," the BLA said.&nbsp;

The militant outfit further noted that not a single BLA fighter has been injured or killed.&nbsp;
"Currently, all hostages are in the custody of the BLA's Fidayeen unit, Majeed Brigade. Clear instructions have been issued to the Majeed Brigade: if the Pakistani military attempts to approach, all hostages will be executed and the Fidayeen will continue their resistance until martyrdom without retreating," the statement concluded.
Following this, the Balochistan government imposed emergency measures and all institutions have been mobilised to deal with the situation, Dawn reported, citing government spokesperson Shahid Rind.
A massive counter-operation is underway to secure the hostages. The Pakistan Army has also rushed a relief train with reinforcements of soldiers and doctors to the incident spot, according to sources.&nbsp;
