'Harry Potter'&nbsp;author J. K. Rowling on Monday launched an organisation for women who have been victims of sexual violence.

Beira's Place is billed as a free support and advocacy service run by women for women in Edinburgh and the surrounding area who have experienced abuse.

Rowling, who lives in the Scottish capital and is helping to fund the centre, has spoken in the past of being a survivor of domestic violence.

But the launch comes as debate rages in the UK about recognition of gender identity, which has seen Rowling the target of militant transgender rights supporters.

In 2020, she was accused of transphobia for mocking the phrase "people who menstruate", in a row that escalated into death threats.

The new centre comes as the devolved Scottish government in Edinburgh has put forward proposals to simplify the process for anyone who wants to change their gender.

Rowling has criticised the reforms of the Gender Recognition Act. Others opposed to the move are on the board of Beira's Place, the BBC reported.

While sharing her experience with her fans, she described the pain she felt in her throat as "being cut by a knife". She also revealed that she had many sleepless nights because she had intense back pain for days.

Jin also shared that she experienced brain fog and had to rely on traditional Chinese medicine to get adequate sleep. “[I] felt my mind went blank and I was easily stuck to find words when I was halfway through a sentence,” Jin wrote in her post.

Sharing that&nbsp;her three-year-old son was the second to show symptoms&nbsp;but recovered from the infection before the rest of her family, Zhang reassured parents that they do not need to worry too much about their children. She also urged people to drink lots of water and use fever medication if their temperature hit 39 degrees Celsius (102 Fahrenheit).

The 12-person jury, which is made up of eight men and four women, is tasked to deliberate&nbsp;on seven charges stemming from four accusers, including five counts of sexual assault and two counts of rape. They will have to assess a hefty amount of evidence, including testimony from 50 witnesses.&nbsp;The jurors must reach a unanimous decision on each of the counts.

It's hard to say why the jury is taking so much time to deliberate or what they might be stuck on as they have not submitted any questions or notes to the judge, at least, in the presence of the media.&nbsp;

There is nothing ace filmmaker Christopher Nolan cannot do to keep things real in his films and his latest revelation about his much-anticipated movie 'Oppenheimer' proves the same. The 52-year-old recently revealed that he recreated the first nuclear weapon detonation without using any VFX or CGI effects for his upcoming movie.

Nolan shared that he favours practical effects over VFX. And, that is quite evident in his work as he once blew up a real Boeing 747 to shoot an important scene for 'Tenet'.

While speaking to Total Film magazine, the director said, "I think recreating the Trinity test (the first nuclear weapon detonation, in New Mexico) without the use of computer graphics was a huge challenge to take on."&nbsp;

"Andrew Jackson, my visual effects supervisor, I got him on board early on, was looking at how we could do a lot of the visual elements of the film practically, from representing quantum dynamics and quantum physics to the Trinity test itself, to recreating, with my team, Los Alamos up on a mesa in New Mexico in extraordinary weather, a lot of which was needed for the film, in terms of the very harsh conditions out there,&nbsp;there were huge practical challenges," Nolan added.

Nolan's film is based on nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was universally regarded as the "father of the atomic bomb". He was also&nbsp;the director of the Manhattan Project, which was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons.

Speaking further about the film in the interview, Nolan shared that 'Oppenheimer' is a "story of immense scope and scale".

"It's one of the most challenging projects I've ever taken on in terms of the scale of it, and in terms of encountering the breadth of Oppenheimer's story. There were big, logistical challenges, big practical challenges," he shared.

The director continued, "I had an extraordinary crew, and they really stepped up. It will be a while before we're finished. Certainly, as I watch the results come in, and as I'm putting the film together, I'm thrilled with what my team has been able to achieve."

Starring Martin J. Sherwin. Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Florence Pugh, 'Oppenehimer' will hit the theatres on July 21, 2023.

Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi has filed a defamation suit against Jacqueline Fernandez, alleging that the latter made "defamatory imputations against her due to malicious reasons", Indian media reported citing documents. Both of their names appeared during an Enforcement Directorate investigation against conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the Rs 2 billion money-laundering case.

According to an affidavit shared by India Today, Nora said, "Jacqueline Fernandes sought to criminally defame the complainant in order to destroy her career to further her own interests, since they are both working in the same industry and have similar backgrounds, amongst other reasons."

Nora filed this defamatory case against Jacqueline after the latter gave a written plea in the PMLA court and submitted that "she was being falsely implicated by the ED while celebs such as Nora Fatehi who had also received gifts from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar had been made witnesses".

Refuting Jacqueline's claims,&nbsp;Nora said that she had nothing to do with the matter and that she had no contact directly with Sukesh Chandrashekhar, but she only knew the conman through his wife, Lena Maria Paul.

Nora also denied receiving gifts from the conman, as previously claimed by Jacqueline.

Both of their names appeared during an Enforcement Directorate investigation against conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the Rs 2 billion money-laundering case. According to an affidavit shared by India Today, Nora said, "Jacqueline Fernandes sought to criminally defame the complainant in order to destroy her career to further her own interests, since they are both working in the same industry and have similar backgrounds, amongst other reasons." Nora filed this defamatory case against Jacqueline after the latter gave a written plea in the PMLA court and submitted that "she was being falsely implicated by the ED while celebs such as Nora Fatehi who had also received gifts from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar had been made witnesses". Refuting Jacqueline's claims, Nora said that she had nothing to do with the matter and that she had no contact directly with Sukesh Chandrashekhar, but she only knew the conman through his wife, Lena Maria Paul. Nora also denied receiving gifts from the conman, as previously claimed by Jacqueline. American rapper and fashion mogul Ye, who was formerly known as Kanye West, went viral on social media, once again, for making fun of rapper Meek Mill, who was among the many celebrities slamming him for wearing&nbsp;the controversial 'White Lives Matter' tee during Paris Fashion Week in October.

As a short clip of Ye's Saturday interview on a Clubhouse group started doing rounds on social media, Meek's fans came out in his defence before the rapper himself penned a cryptic note.&nbsp;

"Never lost my mind for fame or money … I still have my family …my people respect me … I’m freeing people from prison… I’m doing community service all month with children up close and personal." wrote Meek.&nbsp;"I’m chilling with my son and his friends today.. y’all on clubhouse at 50 lol." On several occasions, Meek has openly criticised Kanye for his anti-Semitic remarks and erratic behaviour. In November, the Philadelphia rhymer dropped a freestyle over DJ Khaled's 'God Did' where he said that Ye had sold his soul.

"Make a hundred million dollars and still go get my friends after," Meek raps on the song. "And that don't go for everybody, just the only ones that bend backwards for me/I will never sell my soul for money, like I’m Kanye."
