The Indian Army has established a 20-bed COVID-19 hospital in the remotest area of the Uri sector in North Kashmir. The hospital has been specially made for the people living near the Line of Control (LoC).&nbsp;

With the ever-increasing numbers of Covid positive patients across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the government hospitals are overloaded with patients. And to take away the pressure from government-run hospitals, the army has come up with this hospital.

The hospital will have twenty beds all equipped with an oxygen facility. There are 5 ICU beds while two ventilators have also been put in place.&nbsp;

"It's a twenty bedded hospital with all beds having an oxygen facility, we have two ventilators and 5 ICU beds. We are in continuous touch with BMO at Uri. We will be getting patients that will be referred by the civil hospitals." said Captain Sachu Jacob, Indian Army, Uri Sector.&nbsp;

The facilities at this hospital will be thrown open to patients who are referred from the civil hospitals in the Uri sector. If the Uri hospital gets excess patients, they will be referred to this army hospital. Doctors and Paramedics from the army will be monitoring all the patients admitted to this hospital.&nbsp;

"Whenever the civil hospital gets overloaded, they can refer the patients from the civil hospitals to this facility," said Captain Sachu Jacob, Indian Army, Uri Sector.&nbsp;

As per police records, all the killed terrorists were linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT and part of the groups involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and security establishments,"&nbsp;police in a press release said.&nbsp;

Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site by security forces. The ammunition included one AK-47 rifle, two pistols and other incriminating material.&nbsp;

Three terrorists were killed and one was persuaded to surrender in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/jk-shopian-encounter-enters-the-third-day-as-fresh-firing-breaks-out-370690">Shopian </a>&nbsp;in south Kashmir.

Security forces had got specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area, after which a joint search operation was launched by police, 44RR and 178bn of CRPF. All four terrorists were given an option to surrender.&nbsp;

“During the search operation as the presence of terrorists got ascertained they were given an opportunity to surrender. Family members of the trapped terrorists were also called to the encounter site to motivate and persuade them to surrender.&nbsp;

"One of the trapped terrorist Tausif Ahmad ultimately surrendered and laid down his arms before the joint security forces.” said IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

The surrendered terrorist was asked to make an appeal to the other three holed up <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/seven-terrorists-killed-by-security-forces-aguh-terror-outfit-wiped-out-in-jk-376274">terrorists</a> to lay down their arms and surrender, but they refused. A lot of people along with their families who have been tested positive are finding it difficult to have access to food. A campaign called 'Food for Kashmir' is fast gaining popularity as they deliver free home-cooked food to these coronavirus patients and their families.

A food delivery startup called Tiffin Aaw in Srinagar has started this campaign on social media. They have taken it upon themselves to deliver free meals for Covid positive families, Covid warriors and people in need. The concept was started when the owner Rais Ahmad got a lot of distress calls from people outside Kashmir, wanting food to be delivered to their Covid-hit parents.

''Food for Kashmir was started recently, we got lots of distress calls from the people whose families were covid positive they were not able to pay for their food, we as a start-up would not have been in that position to give free food to so many people. So we thought we need to do something and that's when we started a campaign where people would sponsor food for those who will not be able to pay. We got great responses from across. '' said Rayees Ahmad, founder, Tiffin Aaw.&nbsp;

The startup has also decided to keep this initiative going till the pandemic is not over. They are asking people to sponsor their meals for those in need. They deliver these food packets to hospitals, homes and to covid wellness centres.&nbsp;

'This initiative will go on till the pandemic is over. We are serving homemade food, people who are in hospitals crave for home-cooked meals and that's&nbsp;why we give them homemade food and it brings smile on their face which gives us satisfaction that we did our job.'' said Rayees Ahmad, founder, Tiffin Aaw.&nbsp;

All the coronavirus protocols and SOPss are being followed by the staf working at Tiffin Aaw. They wear PPE kits, masks and keep a sanitiser handy while the food is being made and later delivered to the people.&nbsp;

''We are a small startup and its just been a year. People are calling us , we are giving food to people without asking for money. And among those people only, some get so emotional and tell us that they want to sponsor other covid positive family's or patients''. said Nida Rayees, co-founder, Tiffin Aaw.

"We are following all Covid protocols and not allowing delivery boys in our kitchen," she added.&nbsp;&nbsp;"And now we have put out a request asking people to donate us a small tent so that we can keep ppe kits, masks etc separately.''

The third phase of vaccination has begun for people above the age of 18 years in the Union Territory of Jammu&nbsp;and Kashmir today. The government said that it has received&nbsp;around 75,000 new doses of Covaxin from Hyderabad.&nbsp;

The administration urged people to register themselves for the vaccine and also said that people who are not registered will not be vaccinated. There are around 10 designated centres in Srinagar where the third phase of vaccination has been started by the government.&nbsp;

"We have sufficient quantities of vaccines available&nbsp;with us. Earlier people were coming in less numbers but in the last few days, the demand for vaccines has increased and that's why we are getting more. We will keep it available&nbsp;for people. 10 centres for the people of age group 18-45 have been established. We request people in this age group to register themselves in CoWin app and come at the time of appointment.'' said Ajaz Asad, DC Srinagar.&nbsp;

More than 2.3 million (23&nbsp;lakh) people have been vaccinated in the Union Territory so far. The increasing demand for the vaccines is one of the reasons that many centres were closed as there were no vaccines available till today morning. However people appreciated the administration's effort of getting new doses of vaccines.&nbsp;

"It was very nice to get vaccinated, I think everyone should get vaccinated, The slot opened today and I thankfully registered. There is no walk in but everyone has to register on the CoWin app',' said Sardar Nasir Ali Khan, who got vaccinated today in Srinagar.&nbsp;

However, Jammu and Kashmir has announced free of cost vaccines for all age groups. As the cases crossed 3,000 mark, government had announced complete lockdown till Monday morning in 11 districts of the Union Territory.&nbsp;
