<p>A recent study published in&nbsp;The Lancet Regional Health, Southeast Asia has shed light on the mortality rates among patients undergoing dialysis for chronic kidney disease in India.</p>

<p>The study, the largest of its kind in India, offered insights into dialysis outcomes after analysing data from 23,601 patients. It found a 71 percent survival rate after six months of dialysis treatment.</p>

<p>Survival rates varied widely between centres, ranging from 55 percent to 100 percent. However, after accounting for centre and patient characteristics, the range narrowed to between 83 percent and 97 percent.</p>

<p>According to these findings, almost three out of every ten patients succumb within a year of starting dialysis treatment. If one is to draw a comparison, it is twice the mortality rate seen in high-income countries, reports citing the study pointed out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The nationwide assessment, involving 193 private dialysis clinics, discovered that survival rates at six months varied between 83 percent and 97 percent. Rural clinics showed a mortality rate of about 32 per cent higher compared to urban clinics.</p>

<p>Japanese arch-rivals Nissan and Honda said Friday they were exploring a strategic partnership in electric vehicles to face up to a "once-in-a-century" upheaval in the car industry.</p>

<p>Analysts said the move was aimed at catching up with Chinese competitors who have stolen a march in EVs while Japanese firms have lost ground by focusing more on hybrid vehicles.</p>

<p>"We are not competing only with the traditional car makers, but also with new players... with innovative products and new business models" as well as "overwhelming price competitiveness and amazing speed," said Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida.</p>

<p>"We cannot win the competition as long as we stick to conventional wisdom and traditional approach," he told a joint news conference announcing a feasibility study of the partnership.The scope includes automotive software platforms, core components related to EVs, and complementary products, the companies said.</p>

<p>Following directives from the Indian Supreme Court, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has uploaded the electoral bonds data on its website. In adherence to the court's orders dated February 15 and March 11, 2024, the State Bank of India (SBI) provided the data to the ECI on March 12, 2024.</p>

<p>The ECI confirmed that the data was uploaded "as is where is basis" on its website. This comes as the Chairman of SBI filed a compliance affidavit on Wednesday (Mar 13), informing the Supreme Court about furnishing the electoral bonds details to the election commission.</p>

<p>“In compliance of Hon’ble Supreme Court's directions, contained in its order dated Feb 15 &amp; March 11, 2024 (in the matter of WPC NO.880 of 2017), the State Bank of India (SBI) had provided the data pertaining to the electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 12, 2024," the commission said in a statement on Thursday (Mar 14)</p>
