<p>Prachanda, who politically distanced from the pro-China Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) headed by KP Oli after becoming Prime Minister in December last year made his maiden visit to China after visiting India and the US.</p>

<p>In his meeting with Prachanda, Xi who made a high-profile visit to Nepal in 2019 and announced several high-profile projects said the two countries sharing borders through Tibet made progress with the ‘Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network’ and other ‘Belt and Road’ projects that have “taken shape”.</p>

<p>He urged efforts from both sides to promote infrastructure connectivity and expand transit transportation cooperation to help Nepal transform itself from a landlocked country to a land-linked country at an early date, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted him as saying.</p>

<p>The trans-Himalayan connectivity projects include road and rail connectivity being laid through the rugged Himalayan mountains connecting Nepal with Tibet.</p>

<p>As a landlocked country, much of its imports go through India. China wants to weigh in to reduce Nepal’s dependence on India as part of efforts to expand its own influence.</p>

<p>Critics however say that most of the Chinese projects in Nepal were stuck, including the border infrastructure as Beijing closed its borders during the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>

<p>“Nepal signed a transport-transit agreement to access seven ports in China; nine BRI projects were selected, and the “Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network” umbrella concept was presented, enhancing cross-border cooperation” according to Pragya Ghimire of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Nepal.</p>

<p>“When Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Nepal in 2019, the two countries signed seven bilateral agreements, but most were not implemented”, she wrote in an article published in the Nepalese daily, the Kathmandu Post ahead of Dahal’s eight-day visit during which he is scheduled to visit Tibet.</p>

<p>In his meeting with Prachanda, Xi said “The two sides should always understand and support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, and constantly consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations”.</p>

<p>For his part Prachanda said Xi is a visionary global leader and a good friend of all Nepalese people, Xinhua reported.</p>

<p>Both countries were expected to sign several agreements to boost Chinese investments in Nepal, according to Nepalese media reports.</p>

<p>“Now, it was a challenging summit. It was actually a challenging presidency, and it was challenging because we were confronting a very sharp East-West polarisation as well as a very deep North-South divide. But we were very determined as the Presidency of the G20 to make sure that this organisation on which the world really had put so much hope was able to get back to its core agenda,” he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that it is becoming clearer that geopolitics calculation is impacting basic requirements of countries like food and energy. The minister also affirmed that India will be a partner, contributor and collaborator to deal with development challenges.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jaishankar&nbsp;said that G20's "core agenda was of global growth and development. So it was appropriate that we started our G20 Presidency by convening the voice of the Global South Summit. An exercise which involved 125 nations of the south of which most of you in some capacity participated."&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a devastating incident, a fire erupted at a golf ball manufacturing facility in Pingtung County, southern Taiwan, which resulted in loss of several lives while around 100 were injured, media reports said. As per the Associated Press, tragically, at least six individuals were killed due to the fire and subsequent explosions, which began on Friday night (September 22) and continued into the night. Among the casualties were three brave firefighters who were responding to the emergency.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Ongoing search&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The search efforts continue for five individuals who remained unaccounted for and are missing. This includes four factory workers and one firefighter.&nbsp;The impact of the incident was extensive, with over 100 people requiring medical attention and being rushed to hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained during the fire and explosions.</p>

To further elaborate on the relief efforts after the massive blaze, Tsai announced that the Pingtung County government had set up an emergency operation center.</p>

A glaring example of the systemic violence against minorities in Pakistan was the large-scale brutality perpetrated against the minority Christian community in Jaranwala, in Pakistan's Faisalabad District in August 2023, where a total of 19 churches were gutted and 89 Christian houses were burnt down," Petal Gahlot said.</p>

<p>"The condition of women belonging to minority communities in Pakistan notably Hindu Sikhs and Christians remains deplorable. According to a recent report published by Pakistan's own Human Rights Commission, an estimated 1,000 women from minority communities are subjected to abduction, forced conversion and marriage in Pakistan every year. Pakistan has been the home and patron to the largest number of internationally prescribed terrorist entities and individuals in the world," she added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Instead of engaging in technical sophistry, we call upon Pakistan to take credible and verifiable action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks whose victims await justice even after 15 years. In order for there to be peace in South Asia, the actions that Pakistan needs to take are threefold. First, stop cross-border terrorism and shut down its infrastructure of terrorism immediately. Second, vacate Indian territories under its illegal and forcible occupation. And third, stop the grave and persistent human rights violations against the minorities in Pakistan, " the Indian diplomat said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Addressing the General Debate of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday, Kakar had said, "Development depends on peace. Pakistan is situated in the least economically integrated region in the world. Pakistan believes that regions develop together therefore [the country] desires peaceful and productive relations with all neighbours, including India," he said.</p>

<p>In response to the attack, Mikhail Razvozhayev, the governor of Sevastopol, a city on the peninsula, confirmed the strike on the Black Sea Fleet headquarters and cautioned the public about the possibility of additional Ukrainian aerial attacks.</p>

Russian senior leadership among dead, injured in Black Sea fleet headquarters strike: Ukraine

<p>India's National Investigation Agency has confiscated the properties of banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) chief&nbsp;Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in Amritsar and Chandigarh, media reports said. The confiscated properties include 46 kanal of agricultural property in the ancestral village Khankot, located on the outskirts of Amritsar district.</p>

<p>Another property that is confiscated by India's law enforcement agency is his house no. 2033 in Sector 15-C, Chandigarh. After confiscation, Pannun lost rights to the property and the property now belongs to the government.&nbsp;In 2020, his properties were attached, which meant he could not sell them.</p>

<p>The central agency also pasted a property confiscation notice outside a house belonging to slain Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Bharsingh Pura village of Jalandhar district.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is a designated terrorist in India. Earlier, after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau insinuated connections between the Indian government and the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Pannun threatened the Hindus living in Canada to leave the country and announced a fresh referendum and vote asking if the Indian high commissioner was responsible for the assassination of the Khalistani terrorist.</p>

"Indo-Canadian Hindus, you have repudiated your allegiance to Canada and the Canadian constitution. Your destination is India. Leave Canada, and go to India. Pro-Khalistan Sikhs have always been loyal to Canada. They have always sided with Canada and uphold the laws and constitution," Pannun was heard saying in the 45-second video.</p>

<p>"On October 29, the shaheed (martyr) Nijjar referendum is happening in Vancouver. I urge all Canadian Sikhs to be in Vancouver on October 29, to vote on: Is the Indian High Commissioner Responsible for the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier, his SFJ outfit vowed to hold protests and shut down Indian consulate offices in Canada in the coming week, Canadian media outlet Global News reported. &nbsp;</p>

<p>“We will not allow the Indian consulates to function and we’re going to push the Canadian government to name the individuals who are responsible for assassinating and giving the orders to hit Nijjar,” Khalistani radical Gurpatwant Singh Pannun from Sikhs for Justice told the outlet.&nbsp;</p>

After confiscation, Pannun lost rights to the property and the property now belongs to the government. In 2020, his properties were attached, which meant he could not sell them. The central agency also pasted a property confiscation notice outside a house belonging to slain Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Bharsingh Pura village of Jalandhar district. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is a designated terrorist in India.
