78.8% Americans think US should negotiate with Iran to revive nuclear deal: Survey

Singaporean authorities have made their largest-ever rhino horn capture with a US $830,000 haul seized from a smuggler arriving from South Africa on Wednesday.

Twenty pieces of horn, totalling 34 kilogrammes (75 pounds), were reportedly found in two pieces of luggage on Tuesday at Singapore Changi Airport, according to the city-National state's Parks Board.&nbsp;

Sniffer dogs discovered the contraband, which belonged to a passenger continuing on to Laos, the board reported, adding that the suspect had been detained.&nbsp;

In a statement, it claimed that "this is the largest seizure of rhinoceros horns in Singapore to date."

The International Convention on the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) protects rhinos and forbids the trade of rhino horns internationally.&nbsp;

The board stated that after the seized horns have undergone genetic testing to determine their species, they would be destroyed to stop them from re-entering the market.&nbsp;

The videos could not be independently verified by Reuters. Even though many do not think the Shi'ite religious system is close to being overthrown, the government is undertaking a lethal campaign to quell the discontent 43 years after the country's Islamic Revolution. According to witnesses who spoke to Reuters, riot police were highly present in various locations on Wednesday, especially in and around colleges, which served as the centre of the protests. Without going into further detail, Tasnim news agency quoted a senior foreign ministry source as saying that Britain's "unilateral statements" proved that it had a part in the terrorists' active campaign against the Islamic Republic by using aggressive scenarios. The one-of-a-kind first edition of Emma, which includes a handwritten note signed "from the author," is sold for the highest amount of any published work by the author.&nbsp;

After its American buyer requested it stay in the UK, the three-volume edition was placed at Chawton House, Hampshire, the former residence of the author's brother, Edward, and the current Centre for Study on Women's Literature.

It is the only presentation copy of an Austen work with a known existence, according to Peter Harrington, a rare book trader in London. The book was sent to Austen's friend Anne Sharp, the governess of Edward's children, and is inscribed by the publisher rather than the author as was customary.&nbsp;

The purchaser of this one-of-a-kind edition of Emma by Jane Austen indicated a desire for the book to remain in England, according to Pom Harrington, the owner of Peter Harrington.&nbsp;

Given its ties to Jane Austen and her brother Edward, Chawton House sprang to mind right away. The fact that Chawton House supported early women's literature made it the ideal choice since Sharp acted as Austen's confidante, supporter, and occasional critic.

"When we heard the book had been sold, we were worried it was going to disappear to America," said Emma Yandle, curator of Chawton House.&nbsp;

"We’re delighted such a significant work of Jane Austen’s will take its place amongst the literary treasures in our collection,"&nbsp;said Katie Childs, chief executive of Chawton House.&nbsp;

Early in the next year, Chawton House will display the book.
