The police in Uttar Pradesh’s western Muzaffarnagar district filed a case under Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act after a person named Vishnudutt filed a complaint.&nbsp;

The law makes it punishable to disclose the identity of a child victim or witness of a crime. Those held guilty could be sentenced to six months in jail or fined up to Rs 200,000 ($2,420 approx).

Zubair was one of the journalists who posted the video of the incident on social media. However, he later deleted it.

Reacting to the FIR, Zubair told the Indian Express newspaper, “I did not receive any notice or call from the police. It was through social media that I found that an FIR has been lodged against me.”&nbsp;

“I was checking the FIR and it does not have any other names. Why was only my name put there? There were several media outlets that posted the video before and after me. I later removed the video after I was told that I was disclosing the minor’s identity. This has happened to me before in 2020 as well. I was targeted… This shows the police can target anyone.”

The matter came to light on August 25 after a video of the incident went viral, showing the teacher, Tripti Tyagi, who instigated other students to slap the Muslim boy “hard”. In the clip, she can also purportedly be heard making pejorative statements about Muslims.

<h2 dir="ltr">Teacher yet to be arrested&nbsp;</h2>

The woman teacher, who is also the owner of the school, has been booked by the Uttar Pradesh Police under Sections 323 (causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code. However, no arrest has been made so far.

The incident caused widespread uproar, with many demanding that the teacher be sacked and given strict punishment.

In an interview with NDTV news channel, Tyagi said, “I am not ashamed. I have served the people of this village as a teacher. They all are with me."&nbsp;

"They have made laws, but we need to control the children in schools. This is how we tackle them,” she added.

Appearing for the Tamil Nadu government, senior advocates CS Vaidyanathan and Mukul Rohatgi sought 10,000 cusecs of water be released by Karnataka in the interim, to make up for the water shortage in the state, Bar and Bench news outlet reported.

<h2>Tamil Nadu seeks more water for standing crops</h2>

But the senior advocate Shyam Divan, appearing for the Karnataka government, said that the state government won’t be able to comply with the request due to a shortage of rainfall this year.

Advocate Divan said that Karnataka had already discharged water as mandated by CWMA and added that it takes three days for it to travel to Tamil Nadu.

But Rohatgi said that water has not been made available to the lower riparian state despite orders from CWMA.

Then Justice Gavai said, "Why do you not go before the authority? We do not have expertise in this. How can we pass any order? Please approach the authorities."

Justice Narasimha later said that the authority's orders were not being complied with.

Rohatgi informed the court that the Tamil Nadu state was also running out of water and that there was a “huge deficit”.

<h2>Hearing now on Sept 1</h2>

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the central government, then informed the apex court Bench that the CWMA would be meeting on Monday, following which the court listed the next hearing on September 1.

“Based on investigations and confessions, they were transferred to the competent military judiciary, and we will announce at a later stage the details about this cell that posed a threat to Lebanon,” he was quoted as saying.

"We carried out an investigation and determined that this cell posed a danger to Lebanon," the official further said.

"The fight against terrorism is a priority and the fight against spy networks set up by the Israeli enemy is an absolute priority,"&nbsp;Al-Baysari added.

He, however, did not offer any further details of the arrest.

The seizure took place on Wednesday in the southern port of Algeciras. The customs said in a statement said that it was "the biggest concealed cargo of cocaine in Spain to date."

The narcotic was stashed in banana crates inside a refrigerated container, they added.

Many of these packages had hakenkreuz symbols and the word "Hitler" written on them, similar to a consignment of cocaine that was intercepted in Peru en route to Belgium in May this year, the authorities said.

They did not reveal which group was responsible, but the officials added that the operation was "an unprecedented blow for one of the biggest criminal organisations at the world level in cocaine distribution."

<h2>Drug consignment intended for major criminal networks&nbsp;</h2>

This drug consignment was intended to be supplied to major criminal networks in Europe, the customs officials said.

The logos of more than 30 European criminal groups who had been destined to take delivery of the cargo were found inside.

The customs said that the drugs came from Guayaquil, the Ecuadoran port city known as a springboard for South American drugs. It is from here that the drugs are supplied to the United States and Europe.

The organisation which undertook the transport was able to send 40 containers a month to Europe thanks to a vast commercial network and also used the northwestern port of Vigo, the investigators said.

<h2>Probe began in July&nbsp;</h2>

Prior to this seizure, Spain's biggest cocaine bust was 8.4 tonnes in 2018, also found in a supposed banana container in Algeciras.

The investigations began in July when police received information about a pending shipment of Colombian cocaine via Ecuador in August.

The organisation behind the shipment operated through a banana exporting company in Machala, Ecuador, the agency said.

The cargo was due to be delivered in Portugal for later distribution throughout Europe.

No arrests have been made so far.

Speaking for the first time at the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday (Aug 24) made a strong case for the reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and sought revision of the Bretton Woods system—a global financial architecture created by the US-led West after the end of World War II.

Guterres said that “today's global governance structures reflect yesterday's world" and that for multilateral institutions to be universal they needed reform.

"They were largely created in the aftermath of World War II when many African countries were still ruled by colonial powers and were not even at the table," Guterres said in remarks on the final day of the BRICS summit.

"This is particularly true of the Security Council of the United Nations and the Bretton Woods institutions," he said, referring to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

<h2>'World changed, and so must global governance'</h2>

“The world has changed and so global governance must change with it. It must represent today's power and economic relations and not the power and economic relations of 1945. That is why I have been advocating deep reforms to make global frameworks truly universal and representative of today's realities," Guterres said.

Guterres, however, pointed out that multipolarity alone cannot ensure a peaceful and just status quo. He called for robust and effective multilateral institutions to support this shift.

Drawing parallels, he highlighted the lessons from the early 20th century when Europe's multipolarity without strong multilateral mechanisms contributed to the start of the First World War.

The UN chief warned that without such reforms, fragmentation becomes inevitable.

"We cannot afford a world with a divided global economy and financial system; with diverging strategies on technology including artificial intelligence; and with conflicting security frameworks," he said.

On Thursday (Aug 24) morning, Sadow filed a formal notice of appearance before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, notifying that he would represent Trump in the election subversion case.

It is unknown what prompted the former president to abruptly change his attorney just hours ahead of his planned surrender, but a source close to Trump told CNN said that Sadow was chosen just because he is the “best criminal defence attorney in Georgia.”

The source further said that the change was not a result of Findling’s performance.

Trump’s other Georgia attorney, Jennifer Little, is expected to stay on the legal team and work with Sadow.

The former president is expected to be booked on 13 felony charges in connection with his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election that led to the insurrection of Capitol Hill.

The embassy also warned its people to "pay close attention to the surroundings of the embassy" if planning to visit.

Similar warnings were also issued in Chinese-ruled Hong Kong and South Korea asking citizens to “behave cautiously”.

In South Korea, Japan's embassy issued a notice advising its citizens there to avoid "unnecessary trouble" due to a rally planned around the embassy.

“We confirmed that the analysed value is equal to the calculated concentration and that the analysed value is below 1,500 becquerels per litre,” a Tepco spokesperson, Keisuke Matsuo, told reporters. The national safety standard is 60,000 becquerels a litre.

Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also said that his government used diplomatic channels to request China to lift the ban.

&nbsp;“We strongly encourage discussion among experts based on scientific grounds,” Kishida told reporters, according to the Kyodo news agency.

Both the leaders also discussed the Ukraine situation, with PM Modi asserting that “India and Greece support dialogue and diplomacy on the issue.”

The owner and operator of a stricken&nbsp;cable car that dangled over a Pakistan ravine for more than 12 hours&nbsp;have been arrested after repeatedly ignoring safety warnings, police said Thursday.

Six teenage boys were among eight people left stranded hundreds of feet in the air when two of the three chairlift cables snapped on Tuesday, leading to a scare and daring rescue mission that brought them to safety.

"The cables being utilised were of subpar quality, and the machines were also in need of overhauling," Tahir Ayub Khan, a senior police official in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, told AFP.

"The initial notice was issued to the owner in June, followed by a second notification served in August."

Both the cable car operator and the owner have been arrested, Khan said.

Meanwhile the specialist zipliners who were drafted in to lead the rescue mission have been hailed as heroes by the country's caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.

Muhammad Ali Swati, the owner of a zipline adventure company, and his colleague Muhammad Ilyas used the cable keeping the gondola from plunging into the valley as a zipline to bring six of the group to safety.

"The most significant obstacle we encountered was the absence of light. The wind pressure was also quite high," Swati told AFP at a reception at the prime minister's office on Thursday.

"The children were petrified, screaming at me and pleading not to approach, fearing that my weight could cause the gondola to descend."

A military helicopter had brought the first child to safety, while a separate zipline company rescued another.

The six children had been on their way to school accompanied by two adults when the chairlift broke down Tuesday morning midway through its journey above the remote Allai Valley.

"Some of the children were so frustrated and were considering to jump down, but the elder passenger gave us confidence," 15-year-old Rizwan Ullah told AFP on Wednesday.

"When the cable car was twisting, we were terrified and we started reciting the Koran and gave confidence to each other not to jump down."

Cable cars that carry passengers — and sometimes even cars — are common across the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Gilgit-Baltistan, and are vital in connecting villages and towns in areas where roads cannot be built.

Meanwhile the specialist zipliners who were drafted in to lead the rescue mission have been hailed as heroes by the country's caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. Muhammad Ali Swati, the owner of a zipline adventure company, and his colleague Muhammad Ilyas used the cable keeping the gondola from plunging into the valley as a zipline to bring six of the group to safety. "The most significant obstacle we encountered was the absence of light. The wind pressure was also quite high," Swati told AFP at a reception at the prime minister's office on Thursday. "The children were petrified, screaming at me and pleading not to approach, fearing that my weight could cause the gondola to descend." A military helicopter had brought the first child to safety, while a separate zipline company rescued another. The six children had been on their way to school accompanied by two adults when the chairlift broke down Tuesday morning midway through its journey above the remote Allai Valley. "Some of the children were so frustrated and were considering to jump down, but the elder passenger gave us confidence," 15-year-old Rizwan Ullah told AFP on Wednesday. "When the cable car was twisting, we were terrified and we started reciting the Koran and gave confidence to each other not to jump down." The mission is not only important for India, but also for the rest of the world because the purpose of Chandrayaan-3 is to analyse important reserves of frozen water and precious elements.

<h2>Objectives of Pragyan rover </h2>

The Pragyan rover will carry out a series of experiments on the surface of the Moon.

It will check the chemical composition of the lunar surface, and examine the lunar soil and rocks.

It will measure the ions and electrons density and the thermal properties of the lunar surface near the polar region. This will be the first of its kind study as no other country has ever ventured to the Moon's south pole.

The rover will stay on the lunar surface for one&nbsp;Lunar day or 14 Earth days.

Though Vikram and Pragyan have a planned mission life of one&nbsp;lunar day, there is a possibility that the duo could live longer.

ISRO has designed its lander and rover to harness solar power and charge its onboard batteries, but that would be possible only during the lunar day.

After lunar day, comes lunar night for 14 days when temperatures drop severely and go well below -150ºC. If the lander and rover survive the lunar night (14.75 Earth days), it might be possible for them to get revived when the lunar day breaks and solar power is available.

‘India's Modi out of this world’: PM, Brazil’s Lula read South African paper on Chandrayaan-3

A 68-year-old Indian man was stabbed 17 times in broad daylight in Canada while he was out with his granddaughter.

The gruesome attack took place on Tuesday in Oshawa around 10.45 am when he was out for his routing walk with his one-and-half-year-old granddaughter.

Though the local police have not revealed the victim’s identity, the New Delhi-based Hindustan Times newspaper has confirmed that the victim’s name is Dilip Kumar Dholani, a resident of Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

Dholani arrived last week and has been staying with the family at their residence in Oshawa town in the Greater Toronto Area or GTA.

Local reports said that the attack took place just a few kilometres from the house of the victim’s family.

Their surveillance camera caught the whole incident showing the attacker running across the street in full sprint and then repeatedly stabbing&nbsp;Dholani.

Even while lying on the ground with injuries, Dholani continued to shout for help and didn’t let go of his granddaughter till his daughter-in-law and neighbours rushed to his assistance.

<h2>Indian community outraged&nbsp;</h2>

Afterwards, police were called in and Dholani was immediately rushed to a Toronto-area trauma centre for treatment. The victim is currently in critical but stable condition.

According to media reports, the toddler remains uninjured.

On Wednesday, the police arrested the 20-year-old accused Noah Denyer, of Oshawa, from a residence nearby.

“It was actually a lot of video surveillance and witnesses that came forward that led us to a quick apprehension of this suspect,” Duty Insp. Chris Ludlow told CTV news.

Police believe the attack appeared to be random and the victim and suspect did not know one another.

Dilip Kumar Dholani’s son Dinesh told the Hindustan Times his father was “lucky” to have survived after suffering 17 stab wounds.
