<p>When Abbas' Instagram account was suspended, he had over 2.8 million followers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Ramon Abbas targeted both American and international victims and became one of the most prolific money launderers in the world,” the FBI said in a court document.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Abbas leveraged his social media platforms...to gain notoriety and to brag about the immense wealth he acquired by conducting business email compromise scams, online bank heists and other cyber-enabled fraud that financially ruined scores of victims and provided assistance to the North Korean regime," it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from the school scam that formed the bedrock of his sentencing, Abbas was also involved in a dating scam where he swindled money from&nbsp;online lovers, after establishing a relationship&nbsp;via a false identity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reportedly, during the court hearing, Abbas also admitted to stealing more than $1.1 million from an individual who wanted to fund a Qatari school. The prosecutors said Abbas created a fake bank website and used identity theft by impersonating bank officials.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The US Department of Justice on Monday revealed it had seized&nbsp;$3.36 billion worth of Bitcoin last year from an individual who stole it from Silk Road (the now-defunct darknet website)&nbsp;in 2012.&nbsp;</p>

<p>James Zhong, the person accused of stealing the cryptocurrency has pleaded guilty to wire fraud. He has also agreed to&nbsp;renounce his stake in a real estate company, plus $661,900 and other items.</p>

<p>“Mr Zhong is extremely remorseful for his conduct that occurred over 10 years ago when he was just 22,” said&nbsp;Zhong's lawyer.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the authorities, it is the second biggest cryptocurrency theft after the $4.5 billion Bitcoin robbery that they managed to unearth earlier this&nbsp;year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“For almost 10 years, the whereabouts of this massive chunk of missing bitcoin had ballooned into an over $3.3 billion mystery. We won’t stop following the money...even to a circuit board in the bottom of a popcorn tin,” said US attorney Damian Williams.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The DoJ added that Zhong could face more than two years in prison according to the recommended federal guidelines.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, Silk Road was seized by the US government in 2013 after it had turned into a major underground marketplace for illegal drug trade and money laundering.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is heading to Russia for a two-day bilateral visit. The top Indian minister is expected to hold an audience with&nbsp;Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday. However, it is not clear if he will be meeting President Vladimir Putin.</p>

<p>"The external affairs minister will meet his counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia. Discussions are expected to cover the entire range of bilateral issues as well as exchange of views on various regional and international developments," said MEA spokesperson&nbsp;Arindam Bagchi.</p>

The visit by Jaishankar comes right before the G-20 summit, scheduled to take place in Bali from November 15-16. The G-20 summit assumes importance because this will be the first time since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in February that western leaders, including US President Joe Biden, will be in the same room. Up until now, India has carefully nurdled its position on the issue with Jaishankar leading the charge. According to reports, Kremlin now supplies almost 22 per cent of India's total crude imports, beating the likes of Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
