<p>As per the Texas A&amp;M Forest Service, Republican Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for nearly 60 counties as more than 400 square miles (1,040 square kilometres) were destroyed in the wildfires.</p>

<p>“Texans are urged to limit activities that could create sparks and take precautions to keep their loved ones safe,” said Abbott.</p>

<p>The wildfire, which is called the Smokehouse Creek Fire, closed highways and was not contained even a bit by Tuesday afternoon (Feb 27), as per the Forest Service.</p>
