The report reveals that in Mexico, full-time workers devote only a miniscule part of their day on average to personal care and leisure, and 27% work very long hours in paid work, the highest level in OECD, where the average is 10%.

In Colombia, 24% of people work for very long hours in paid work. 

Costa Rica is also an underperformer when it comes to the average income, education, social connections, civic engagement, safety and life satisfaction. 

In Türkiye, full-time workers devote 61% of their day on average, or 14.6 hours, to personal care and leisure – less than the OECD average of 15 hours.

In Japan, full-time workers devote 59% of their day on average, or 14.1 hours, to personal care and leisure. 

Here, slightly more than 15% of employees work very long hours in paid work, more than the OECD average of 10%.

When asked to rate their general satisfaction with life on a scale from 0 to 10, Koreans gave it a 5.8 grade on average, lower than the OECD average of 6.7.

El Salvador's Gang Crackdown Faces International Criticism

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele defended his government's crackdown on gangs which has faced international criticism over human rights violations.

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Bukele said that if his government listened to external critics, El Salvador would again be the world's murder capital. “The decisions we took were correct. We are no longer the world death capital and we achieved it in record time," Bukele said.

More than 72,000 people were arrested under a state of emergency Bukele requested in March last year following a surge in gang violence.

Critics have said there is no due process and thousands of innocent people have been swept up in the Bukele government's crackdown. Over 7,000 have been released for lack of evidence of gang ties.

IAEA, Japan sign agreement on Fukushima water discharge

UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed an agreement setting out the full scope of the agency’s comprehensive and continuous safety review of the discharge of treated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

The agreement was signed by IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The agreement has identified five key areas of the safety review, including protecting people and the environment, conducting onsite analysis, and sharing key details with the public.

These areas would enable the IAEA to check that international safety standards are constantly applied during the water discharge.

Japan started releasing treated radioactive water from the Fukushima plant in August, sparking international concerns, especially from China which banned all seafood imports from Japan.

World’s 10 Deadliest Earthquakes in the Past 100 Years

According to the US Geological Survey, a quake measuring 7.5 hit China’s industrial city of Tangshan in 1976, killing over 242,000 people. 

On 26 December, 2004, a massive 9.1-magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Sumatra, an island in Indonesia. It killed more than 230,000 people. 

On 12 January, 2010, an earthquake with a 7.0 magnitude devastated Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. It killed over 200,000 people, and left 1.5 million homeless.

A 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit the Kanto plain in Japan on 1 September, 1923. The death toll was over 105,000.

On 5 October, 1948, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake killed at least 110,000 people in and around Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. 

A 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit China’s southwestern Sichuan province on 12 May, 2008. It killed over 87,000 people, including thousands of school students.

On 8 October, 2005, a deadly 7.6-magnitude earthquake killed more than 73,000 people in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Kim Jong Un's delegation to meet Vladimir Putin: Who's Who?

North Korea leader Kim Jong Un's visit to Russia has garnered a lot of attention. The leader accompanied by a delegation, which includes top military commanders, arms industry officials, and diplomats, has reached Russia for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.


Here's who accompanied Kim Jong Un to Russia.

While the exact composition of his delegation is yet to be named by North Korea, analysts have identified key figures accompanying Kim on his trip. The North Korean leader's delegation as per experts suggests that the visit will focus on defence and security cooperation.

Amid the posse are high ranking defence leaders, including the Vice Chairman of the ruling Workers' Party's Central Military Commission and marshal of the army — North Korea's top military rank.

Ri Pyong Chol oversees North Korea's defence industry, including its nuclear and missile programs.

Marshal Pak Jong Chon, who is the new head of the party's military political leadership, is reportedly accompanying Kim on this trip to Russia.

Kim Jong Un's sister and a powerful senior party official. She has played a significant role in supporting her brother's past summits.

Reuters reports that she was seen standing beside the train in North Korea, however, it is unclear if she boarded.

Choe Son Hui is a seasoned diplomat and long-time nuclear negotiator who played a crucial role in Kim's summits with former US President Donald Trump.


While the North Korean Defence Minister was not spotted in any of the released pictures, it is speculated that he is likely to have gone on the Russia visit with Kim.

The Director of the Munitions Industry Department, Jo Chun Ryong also assisted Kim during recent visits to a munitions factory and missile plant.

As per North Korea leadership expert Michael Madden, the visit can include a possible agreements for munitions purchases led by Jo.

Officials handling economic affairs are also there. Their presence as per Reuters suggest the possibility of discussions related to economic cooperation and food aid.
