Azerbaijan has accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack on its Nakhchivan exclave, injuring four people and damaging infrastructure near the regional airport. Azerbaijani authorities said several drones crossed from Iranian territory, with one striking the airport terminal and another landing near a school.
Following the incident, Azerbaijan closed its southern airspace near the Iranian border for 12 hours and warned that the attack violated international law. Baku has also signalled that it may take retaliatory measures.
Iran has denied responsibility for the incident, saying it does not target neighbouring countries. The attack has raised concerns that the widening conflict in the region could spill into the South Caucasus.
