Tamil Nadu launches ‘spectrum’ system to track sexual offenders by risk

Tamil Nadu Police have introduced a new monitoring framework called ‘Spectrum’ to classify and track individuals accused of sexual offences based on the level of risk they pose. The system uses categories such as red, orange, and blue to help authorities identify high-risk repeat offenders as well as lower-risk cases. Officials say the initiative will strengthen policing by enabling more focused surveillance, better prevention strategies, and quicker intervention.
