Japan has officially launched its new National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), upgrading the older Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office (CIRO). Led by director Kazuya Hara with a staff of roughly 730, the agency has the legal power to force different government ministries to share security and intelligence information.
