A shocking new study from Villanova University published by Cambridge University Press reveals that readers consistently rate AI-written short stories higher in quality and engagement than human-written ones. Researchers found that participants struggled to tell the difference between ChatGPT-generated prose and human authorship, frequently scoring AI text better—especially when it carried a "human" label.
