Sri Lankan student protest that ousted Gotabaya Rajapaksa
In 2022, student protests across Sri Lanka led to the fall of the government. The then Sri Lankan President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was forced to flee the country as angry protesters stormed his residence. The country is scheduled to hold its presidential elections this September. It remains to be seen if the youth-led movement will play a role in forming the new government.
