After fifty days of intense protests disrupted supply of fuel, food and medical items across Bolivia, President Rodrigo Paz declared a state of emergency. However, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces in Cochabamba, the political stronghold of ex-Bolivian President Evo Morales.
