Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken out after a key constitutional amendment linked to women’s reservation failed to pass in the Lok Sabha. The bill, which required a two-thirds majority, fell short despite securing 298 votes in favour.
Modi expressed regret over the outcome, apologising to women across the country and calling it a setback for “nari shakti.” He also criticised opposition parties for blocking the legislation, which was tied to a contentious delimitation plan.
