Japan’s media giant Nikkei has fallen victim to a significant cyberattack after an employee’s computer was infected with malware, compromising the company’s Slack platform and exposing the personal data of more than 17,000 employees and business partners. The company confirmed that no journalistic sources were leaked, but cybersecurity experts warn this breach highlights a growing threat — attacks that “live off the land” by using valid credentials to move undetected inside corporate systems.
