iPhone ousted by local brands in China

Apple has fallen out of the top five smartphone brands in china for the first time in recent memory, as local manufacturers like vivo and Huawei dominate the market. In the April-June quarter, all the top five smartphone makers in China were domestic brands. This shift highlights the mounting pressure apple faces in a market that contributes 18% of its revenue. Huawei’s market share surged to over 18% with a 50% increase in shipments, while vivo led with an 18.5% share. Apple’s shipments fell 3.3% year-over-year despite promotional efforts, reflecting intensified competition and economic uncertainties in China.
