Extreme heatwaves and prolonged drought are forcing power plants across Europe to cut production. Low river levels in waterways such as the Rhine and Danube are limiting cooling water supplies, adding pressure to power grids as demand for air conditioning surges. The extreme heat and drought affecting large parts of Europe this summer could erase much of the economic growth expected across the region, a report stated.
