Ebola outbreak: US sending experimental treatment 'MBP134' doses to DRC, Uganda

In a major development for the ongoing fight against the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially announced the launch of clinical trials for two experimental therapeutics: MBP134 and remdesivir. As of late June 2026, the outbreak has escalated to over 1,000 confirmed cases and 277 deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with additional cases confirmed in neighboring Uganda.
