Republican vice-presidential candidate and Ohio Senator JD Vance took a jab at Vice President Kamala Harris, as he referred to her as "trash" during his Atlanta rally over recent "garbage" rhetoric.&nbsp;

During a rally in Atlanta on Monday (Nov. 4), gathering support on the election eve, he criticised Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and said that in two days, she would be out.&nbsp;

"The citizens of this country are not garbage for thinking you're doing a bad job," Vance said. “They are not racist for wanting to secure the southern border, and they are not wrong for wanting to afford groceries and a decent place to live. In two days, we are going to take out the trash in Washington DC, and the trash’s name is Kamala Harris.”

Here's the net worth of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris

United States presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are fighting neck-to-neck in the elections and rallying the swing state voters.

However, in this battle for the White House, many are wondering if Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Harris will be able to hold the "blue wall".

<h2>What is the 'blue wall'?</h2>

The term 'blue wall'&nbsp;stands for the group of states which have voted for Democrats in the previous presidential elections till 2012.

This group of blue wall includes the District of Columbia and 18 states which have been the strongholds of Democrats for decades. These states are California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, Maryland, Minnesota, Connecticut, Oregon, Maine, Hawaii, Delaware, Rhode Island and Vermont.

A major chunk of time during the election campaign has been spent by both the presidential candidates in the “blue wall” states.&nbsp;

<h2>History of blue wall breaches in US elections</h2>

The "blue wall" states remained committed to the Democratic Party in all the presidential polls from 1992 to 2012.

When Trump clinched a shocking victory in the 2016 elections, he flipped three "blue wall" states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. However, in the 2020 presidential elections, US President Joe Biden again turned these states into blue.

In 2024 presidential states, the three states flipped by Trump account for 44 electoral votes which is a major portion of the 93 electoral votes of the seven&nbsp;battleground&nbsp;states.&nbsp;

In the NYC/Sienna poll published on Sunday (Nov 3), Harris was narrowly ahead of Trump with 49 per cent of voters and in the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania, she was tied with Trump with 47 per cent and 48 per cent of voters, respectively.

If Harris clinches win in all the Democratic-leaning states and the three "blue wall" states, which once flipped, she will easily secure the 270 electoral votes required for the White House.

But, if Trump repeats history and breaches the Blue Wall again, he can become the country's next president.

Bitcoin speculators are bracing for potentially pronounced market volatility in the aftermath of Election Day in the US on Tuesday according to a detailed report by Bloomberg.

A 30-day gauge of implied swings in the largest digital asset has hit the highest level since a global market rout roiled investors in August. The index, compiled by CF Benchmarks Ltd., is derived from CME Group Bitcoin options pricing, the Bloomberg report elaborated further.

The options market also signals expected moves of about 8 per cent in either direction the day after the vote, compared to typically 2 per cent up or down on a normal day, said Caroline Mauron, co-founder of Orbit Markets, a provider of liquidity for trading in crypto derivatives.

“No significant volatility premium is priced in after November 7, suggesting the market expects a fairly quick resolution,” Mauron added. “This might prove optimistic, considering how close a race the polls are showing.”

Difference between Trump and Kamala’s view on crypto-currencies<o:p></o:p>

The contest between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic rival Vice President Kamala Harris is going down to the wire, leaving investors across asset classes preparing for market upheavals. During campaigning, Trump took an avowedly pro-crypto stance, while Harris, in a measured approach, pledged to back a regulatory framework for digital assets.

Both stances stirred optimism in the crypto community given the contrast with an industry crackdown under President Joe Biden. But Trump’s tight embrace of the sector turned Bitcoin into one of a number of so-called Trump trades.

The former president’s lead over Harris in betting markets helped to lift Bitcoin to the verge of a record high a week ago but his odds have since dropped, pushing the token lower. Polling indicates a photo finish, though there are also some encouraging signs for Harris in last-ditch surveys of voter intentions.

An even distribution of bearish and bullish options for Bitcoin throughout October indicates speculators are equally poised for upward and downward movements leading up to the US vote, according to a report from Derive.xyz, a trading venue focused on crypto derivatives.

For the weeks after the election, data from the Deribit exchange hint at a possible $60,000 to $80,000 trading range based on peak open interest, or outstanding contracts, for bearish and bullish wagers, respectively.

Bitcoin churned near $69,000 as of 9 am Monday in London. The digital asset reached an all-time high of $73,798 in March, aided by inflows into dedicated US exchange-traded funds. The original crypto-currency has rallied more than 60 per cent so far in 2024, outperforming assets like stocks and gold.

Market participants and Bitcoin enthusiasts will take these developments into consideration as it will help them in taking better investment calls.

“Hopefully everything will work out well, we’re way leading, all we have to do is close it out. If we get everybody out and vote there’s not a thing they can do," said Trump.

The Republican presidential nominee started his final rally in the battleground state with discussions about the elections, in which he claimed that he was leading.

He said that he decided to visit North Carolina on the eve of the election to appeal to residents to vote. “Here’s my only purpose in even being here today: Get out and vote,” said Trump.

Top 10 world news: PM Modi condemns attack on Hindu temple in Canada; US election updates, and more

An artificial intelligence (AI) programme has made some surprising predictions regarding the upcoming US election by channelling the spirit of Nostradamus, the famed 16th-century prophet. When asked about the anticipated face-off between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, the AI offered an unexpected forecast: neither Trump nor Harris might claim victory.

<h2>A dark horse emerges</h2>

Instead of predicting a win for either candidate, the AI hinted at the possibility of a lesser-known "dark horse" figure unexpectedly rising to prominence, potentially one of the vice-presidential candidates.

The AI mystic predicted: “But in the final hour, a twist unforeseen, neither may claim the throne of serenity. A name unspoken in many a tale will rise to power, beyond the pale. Though Trump and Kamala shall fight with might, another will lead, emerging from the night."

The AI also made intriguing predictions about other public figures, including Ivanka Trump and Elon Musk. It suggested that Ivanka could take over Trump's political legacy, stating: “Ivanka, the daughter of grace and fame, shall carry forward the family name. With poise and power, she will stand, seeking to lead the mighty land."

<h2>Warnings of post-election violence</h2>

In addition to these predictions, the AI Nostradamus offered chilling forecasts regarding post-election violence, which echoes the January 2021 Capitol Hill violence that followed Trump's defeat in the 2020 election.&nbsp;

It warned: “The eagle's land, torn by division, will see unrest, born of derision. Protests, marches, and rallies loud shall stir beneath a darkening cloud."

AI Nostradamus predicts surprising outcomes for US elections with 'unforeseen' dark horse as 'kingmaker'

As the US prepares for Tuesday's presidential election, the Federal Reserve is poised to make a more predictable decision on interest rates just two days later. With inflation showing signs of easing, the Fed is expected to cut interest rates for the second time this year according to a detailed report by Associated Press.

Despite potential uncertainty surrounding the election results, analysts believe this will not impact the Fed's decision-making process during its upcoming two-day meeting, concluding on November 7, the Associated Press report elaborated further.

The Fed, led by Chair Jerome Powell, is anticipated to reduce its benchmark rate by a quarter-point to approximately 4.6 per cent. This follows a half-point cut in September. Economists predict another rate cut in December, with further reductions likely next year, aimed at lowering borrowing costs for consumers and businesses.

Fed’s approach reflects a shift towards a lower inflation environment<o:p></o:p>

Traditionally, the Fed lowers rates to stimulate a sluggish economy and boost a weak job market. However, the current economic landscape is different: growth is robust, with an unemployment rate of just 4.1 per cent. Despite recent disruptions from natural disasters and strikes affecting job growth, the Fed’s approach reflects a shift toward a "lower-inflation environment" rather than a direct response to economic weakness.

The Fed's aggressive rate hikes over the past year, prompted by soaring inflation that peaked at 9.1 per cent in June 2022, are now giving way to a more cautious stance. Year-over-year inflation has dropped to 2.4 per cent, nearing the Fed's target of 2 per cent. This significant decline suggests that high borrowing rates are no longer necessary and that previous restrictions on lending might be excessive.

Claudia Sahm, chief economist at New Century Advisors, emphasises that the rationale for maintaining elevated rates has dissipated as inflation concerns have subsided. Most Fed officials are advocating for gradual rate reductions, with discussions centered around finding the "neutral" rate that neither stimulates nor restrains economic growth. The Fed's rate-setting committee estimates this neutral rate at about 2.9 per cent, while many economists suggest it may be closer to 3 per cent to 3.5 per cent.

The future course of Fed policy could become more complex once a new president and Congress take office in January. If Donald Trump reclaims the presidency, his proposed economic policies, which include imposing high tariffs on imports and threatening the independence of the Fed, could potentially push inflation in the US economy to higher levels.

Economists have warned that such measures might force the Fed to reconsider its current path of rate cuts, as higher inflation could necessitate a halt or reversal of these reductions.

Powell is likely to address questions about the election's impact on the economy during the upcoming meeting, reiterating the Fed's commitment to apolitical decision-making. Economists remain concerned about Trump’s broader tariff proposals, predicting they could increase inflation significantly, with one report estimating an additional 2 percentage points of inflation next year if implemented.

Hence, as the Fed prepares to cut rates amid cooling inflation, the political landscape may soon introduce variables that complicate future monetary policy. The most powerful central bank in the world will need to navigate these changes carefully to maintain its goals for economic stability and growth.

US Elections: Trump and Harris to make final contrasting pitches in key battleground states day before polls

Ahead of US Presidential election, celebrity endorsements became a key talking point in the race. Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump attracted high-profile supporters, and the contrast in their celebrity backing highlights the cultural divides within American politics. Kamala Harris garnered the support of a star-studded roster, including pop icons like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen. Endorsements by these celebrities, who command large social media following and have significant cultural influence, may resonate with younger voters who might play a big role in this election and also those seeking progressive change. Also read: After Lady Gaga, Katy Perry to perform for Kamala Harris on election eve Artists like Swift have personally articulated their endorsement, emphasising leadership qualities and a commitment to social issues, from women's rights to climate action. In stark contrast, Donald Trump is backed by a different set of celebrities, including tech mogul Elon Musk, country-rocker Kid Rock, and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan. While his supporters may not have the same broad appeal in mainstream culture, they are deeply connected to Trump's base, appealing to a demographic that values strong, often provocative personalities. Musk's transition from a Democratic supporter to a vocal advocate for Trump underscores the shifting political landscape, highlighting how celebrity endorsements can also reflect personal and ideological transformations. Watch | Is Donald Trump or Kamala Harris Better for the Economy? × Can celebrity endorsements sway voters? According to recent polls, a minority of Americans report that celebrity endorsements have influenced their political views or decisions. This scepticism indicates that while celebrities can bring attention to issues and energise specific voter blocs, their overall impact on the electorate might be limited. Historically, the Democratic Party has leveraged celebrity power effectively, using it to mobilise support and draw attention to critical issues. However, as seen in the 2016 election with Hillary Clinton, having star power does not guarantee electoral success. Trump's appeal often lies in his ability to connect with voters through his populist rhetoric and strong messaging, which resonates with his supporters regardless of celebrity endorsements. As the election draws closer, both candidates will undoubtedly continue to leverage their celebrity supporters to amplify their messages. For Harris, the backing of cultural icons may help paint a vision of a more inclusive, progressive future. For Trump, the endorsements from figures who represent strength and resilience appeal to his base's desire for a return to perceived American greatness. Ultimately, the influence of these endorsements will be tested at the ballot box. As voters weigh their options, the question remains: will celebrity support translate into votes, or will it be overshadowed by deeper ideological divides? The answer will shape the outcome of this pivotal election.

The Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will be watching the election night of November 5 from the campus of Howard University, which has been called "one of the most important aspects" of her life by Harris.&nbsp;

Nicknamed "the Black Harvard," the Washington school occupies a central role in the US vice president's biography. Since graduating there in 1986, she has frequently returned at key moments.

In 2019 as a candidate in the Democratic presidential primaries, the vice president said, "It (Howard University) is where I first ran for my first elected office as a student council representative. So this is where it all began."

Harris' presence at the university on Tuesday night, when she could become the first Black woman to be elected US president, is thus deeply symbolic.

Kamala Harris to spend election night at 'Black Harvard' campus

The custom of holding US elections on Tuesday has its roots in the twentieth century, taking into consideration factors such as farming schedules, church attendance patterns, and many other sociological aspects that were dominant then. While, of course, these considerations have changed quite significantly, that part of the southeastern states still bears this tradition, as there were some historical reasons for making Tuesday a voting day.

<h2>Revelling in Culture and Practicality</h2>

In the early 1800s, the US was mostly a structured agricultural society. They did&nbsp;not have a big population, but most Americans were farmers who lived miles away from the poll centre, most of which were in the urban areas. Voting within these hinterland regions could take more than a day to get to the nearest grown-up voting place, even worse in return. In some religiously hardened societies, dominion was considered inappropriate as such days were reserved for worship; thus, it made no sense to conduct elections on Sunday. Furthermore, opinions were not held on Monday because it would require the citizens and the farmers to travel on a Saturday.

But still, it was also impossible to use a Wednesday because such a day was used by most men to go to the market and sell the produce. Therefore, this made Tuesday the most reasonable day. It was possible for the voters who wanted to vote to travel on Monday, vote on Tuesday and then return in time for the Wednesday market day or any other engagement.

<h2>The Date Determining Authority of Congress: A Brief Discussion</h2>

The tradition of holding presidential elections on a Tuesday was instituted in 1845 when Congress directed that Election Day be designated “on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November”. This measure was aimed at making sure that elections were held in all states at favourable periods and uniformity prevailed among states on the date of holding elections. November was perceived as the best month since it came at the end of the season in most states and before the onset of snowfall, giving a period when people could move about easily, especially the country folks.

<h2>Contemporary Perspectives and Proposals for Transformation</h2>

The days of the week were instituted in the State of Colorado as days on which it was acceptable to hold elections decades ago, mainly because of legal reasons that have nothing to say about the culture of the state concerned. Numerous suggestions have arisen regarding this concern, including moving the elections to the weekend and&nbsp;making it a public holiday&nbsp;due to the problems with participation since many citizens do not vote on working days. This Is because it would call for some legislative changes at the minimum and a change of culture.

<h2>Aware of Setbacks, Yet Unwavering in Their Devotion to the New Constitution</h2>

The fact that election day continues to be observed on a Tuesday reveals the extent of how practical issues of a different time still influence Americans' way of casting their votes. These historical elements might also seem useless as they belong to the past but are still fundamental in conducting elections, thus showing the relevance of previous practices to present-day society.

<h2>Sticking to Tuesday as a Dedicated Day for Election</h2>

Sticking to Tuesday as a dedicated day for elections has modern implications that mostly concern the level of participation of the people. Most people find it difficult to vote due to the working hours, restrictions in the hours of polling, and problems associated with transportation. This arrangement tends to depress, especially, the young voters who are poorly paid and work on an hourly basis, and hence there are likely to be fewer voters. Others even go a notch higher, calling for the shift of the election day to the weekend or declaring it as a public holiday to avoid long queues and ensure more people participate so that democracy gets better.

<h2>Proposed Alternatives and Ongoing Debates</h2>

In addition to Tuesday voting, some proposed alternatives include shifting the day of elections to the weekend, instituting a national holiday, and increasing mail-in or advance voting options. Proponents of this view contend that such changes would enhance access to the electoral process, particularly for individuals who have rigid working hours, and in turn increase turnout. Yet, the critics are worried about the practical implementation challenges, the costs that would be incurred, and the risks of prolonged election campaigning activities. The discourse revolves also around assessing the need for early voting practices and the issues of safeguarding election security and integrity in view of the proposed changes.

US Elections: Why do all elections take place on Tuesday of November’s first full week?

Donald Trump held his final rally in Macon, Georgia, on Sunday (Nov 2), where he drew a large crowd to the Atrium Health amphitheatre. Arriving an hour and a half late, Trump sported a black-and-gold "Make America Great Again" cap and stuck to his characteristic themes, including controversial proposals related to immigration and crime.

During the rally, Trump announced his intention to bring back the Alien Enemies Act of 1790.

<h2>What is the Alien Enemies Act of 1790?</h2>

The Alien Enemies Act of 1790 allows the US president to detain, relocate, or deport non-citizens from a country considered an enemy of the US during wartime. According to the Guardian, it has historically been used to relocate and detain Japanese, Italian, and German Americans during World War II.&nbsp;

Trump also suggested that he would pursue the death penalty for undocumented immigrants convicted of killing Americans.&nbsp;

Donald Trump vows he'll revive Alien Enemies Act during final campaign rally. Here's what it is

On November 3, the Israeli military announced it had detained a Syrian national who was allegedly working for Iranian intelligence. This is the first time, the Jewish nation has admitted to sending troops to Syria. The military said that the man identified as Ali Soleiman al-Assi was an "Iranian terror network operative", and had been collecting information on Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) movements near the Israeli-Syrian border.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, in the US, the Republican presidential candidate&nbsp;Donald Trump called the press "fake news" while saying an attacker would have to shoot through the&nbsp;"fake news" to reach him adding he does "not mind that." He made the statement while addressing a rally in Pennsylvania.&nbsp;

In other news, a latest political ad for Kamala Harris urged women to vote "secretly" for the Democrat without their husbands knowing about it. Reacting to that, the former president called the ad "stupid" and asked, "Can you imagine a wife not telling her husband who she's voting for?"

The 30-second clip, narrated by actor Julia Roberts, shows the couple arriving at a polling station wearing baseball caps featuring the American flag, a symbol often sported by Trump supporters.

Reacting to the "stupid" ad, which was financed by a religious non-profit organisation, the former president asked, "Can you imagine a wife not telling her husband who she's voting for?"

In the ad, the wife exchanges knowing glances with another female voter, before filling in her choice for Harris.

"You can vote any way you want, and no one will ever know," the voiceover said before the husband asked, "Did you make the right choice?"&nbsp;

"Sure did, honey," the woman replied.

<h2>'Wife secretly voting for Harris equals to having an affair'</h2>

<h2>'Secret' voters of Harris&nbsp;</h2>

Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, who has stumped for Harris, is openly betting on "secret" votes for the Democrat.

"I think you're going to have, frankly, a lot of men and women who will go into the voting booth and will vote their conscience and will vote for Vice President Harris," said Cheney, who is the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney.

"They may not ever say anything publicly, but the results will speak for themselves," she said.

'So much room for error': Netizens react as US election worker collects ballots from dropbox

Europe will need to rethink its support of Ukraine if Donald Trump is elected president of the United States, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Sunday, as the continent "will not be able to bear the burdens of the war alone".

Orban opposes military aid to Ukraine and has made clear he thinks Trump shares his views and would negotiate a peace settlement for Ukraine.

He backs former president Trump, the Republican candidate, to beat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in Tuesday's US&nbsp;election.

"We (in Europe) need to realize that if there will be a pro-peace president in America, which I not only believe in but I also read the numbers that way, ... if what we expect happens and America becomes pro-peace, then Europe cannot remain pro-war," Orban said.

Ukraine will be high on the agenda when European leaders meet in Budapest in the coming week, he said, referring to a European Political Community meeting and a more informal meeting of EU leaders due to take place.

"Europe cannot bear the burden of [the war] alone, and if Americans switch to peace, then we also need to adapt, and this is what we will discuss in Budapest," Orban said.

He backs former president Trump, the Republican candidate, to beat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in Tuesday's US election. US election: Europe will need to rethink its support to Ukraine if Trump wins, says Hungary PM

Donald Trump, hitting back at Mark Cuban for his statement claiming that the Republican allegedly avoids strong, intelligent women in his circles, called the billionaire a "very insecure guy".

<h2>'Tremendously strong women'</h2>

Appearing on Fox &amp; Friends, on Saturday (Nov 2) Trump pushed back on Cuban's comment and highlighted his wife Melania and advisers like Kellyanne Conway and Susie Wiles as examples of strong women in his orbit.&nbsp;

Trump pointed out that he happens to be married to a particularly strong woman who just had a No. 1 bestseller book, and said,&nbsp;"I have given women chances too. Kellyanne was the head of my 2016 victory. Susie Wiles is strong…I have tremendously strong women".

"Well, I know Mark Cuban. He is a very insecure guy. Can't hit a golf ball more than 50 yards. He's weak physically and mentally...I have known him for a long time. He would call me in the White House incessantly and finally, I just couldn't take his calls anymore and then he went over the other side. He's a guy that wants publicly. When he said that...you know he totally retracted his statement..," claimed Trump.

Cuban, while appearing on The View, had suggested that Trump avoids women who challenge him, particularly on issues like reproductive rights.

<h2>Saving economy from 'obliteration'</h2>

Also on Saturday, at a campaign rally in Salem, Virginia, the Republican Party presidential nominee claimed that he was the only candidate capable of rescuing the US economy from "obliteration".

Trump told his supporters that he was confident about the Election Day outcome in Virginia and said,&nbsp;"We win Virginia, we win the whole thing without question."

He also reinforced his stance on key election issues, including immigration, the economy, and gender rights in sports.

Addressing his campaign's recent ads targeting transgender athletes, Trump invited members of a local college swim team onstage and pledged to support "women’s rights in sports."

Taking direct aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, he criticised "Kamala's economy," and said that the Democrat's handling of the economy was a cause of "depression" rather than recession. He promised tax relief measures, such as eliminating taxes on tips and Social Security, and proposed increased oil drilling to reduce energy costs.

'Keep Calm-ala': Kamala Harris makes surprise SNL cameo ahead of US Election Day

A controversial "Progress 2028" manifesto, posing as a progressive platform from Vice President Kamala Harris, has been exposed as a misleading fake document reportedly funded by conservative dark money groups with links to Elon Musk, according to a report from the watchdog group Open Secrets.

<h2 bis_size="{&quot;x&quot;:7,&quot;y&quot;:84,&quot;w&quot;:813,&quot;h&quot;:25,&quot;abs_x&quot;:40,&quot;abs_y&quot;:1774}">What is Progress 2028?</h2>

Progress 2028, which presents itself as a liberal vision for America, is allegedly part of an initiative by Building America's Future, a conservative dark money network which reportedly has backing from Musk.&nbsp;

The faux manifesto has been amplified by targeted Facebook ads distorting Harris's policy views on issues such as immigration, healthcare, and gun control.&nbsp;

Open Secrets, as per AFP, describes the project as a calculated effort to mislead and potentially alienate Democratic voters.&nbsp;

Anna Massoglia, a researcher with Open Secrets, remarked that the initiative "is really trying to undermine Harris by spreading divisive messages, misleading narratives under the guise of being an ally of Harris".

Examples of this strategy include claims that Harris supports a mandatory nationwide gun buyback, taxpayer-funded healthcare for "undocumented immigrants," and allowing minors to access gender-affirming care without "parental intervention" — none of which align with Harris's official policies for the 2024 election.

In addition to misleading domestic audiences, the Progress 2028 campaign is also involved in targeting specific voter groups with conflicting messages, said the group.

Facebook ads that say "Drop a comment to thank Kamala," and provide a link to the Progress 2028 website reportedly promote Harris as pro-Israel to Jewish voters while presenting her as anti-Israel to Arab American voters. This tactic, as per the report could sway opinions in states with pivotal Arab American and Jewish demographics, such as Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Google data shows that the ads were paid for by the Future Coalition PAC, which, as per the Federal Election Commission, has received millions in funding from Building America's Future.

James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, in a conversation with AFP, referred to this tactic as a form of "voter suppression."

"When the same group is doing ads to two different constituencies with contradictory messaging, it's disinformation," he said.

According to the report, Progress 2028's ads remain active on Meta's platform because they don't meet the company's criteria for its inauthentic behaviour policy, said Meta in a statement to US Media.

US election sabotage? Musk-linked group behind anti-Harris disinformation, 'Progress 2028' manifesto: Report

The Democratic party in the US is all set to counter any potential premature claim of an election victory by the Republican Donald Trump as he did in 2020.&nbsp;

The party's presidential candidate Kamala Harris's campaign revealed it's preparing a rapid-fire response to flood social media and the airwaves with calls for calm and patience with vote-counting if Trump prematurely tries to claim the victory.&nbsp;

The Republican candidate told reporters this week that he hoped to declare victory on Election Day. However, election experts have cautioned that it could take several days for the final result to be known, especially if there are demands for vote recounts in some key areas. Trump is locked in a razor-thin race with Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

US election winners are typically declared by major media outlets that analyze vote counts provided by election officials. While candidates sometimes declare victory before those calls are made, it is unusual to do so before the winner is at least arguably apparent.

The vice president, in an interview on Wednesday (Oct 30), said that her campaign is "sadly ready" should Trump make the premature declaration. Harris accused Trump of "manipulating" the press and the "consensus of the American people."

She gave no details of those preparations, but six Democratic Party and Harris campaign officials said the initial fight against any early Trump victory claim would take place in the court of public opinion. They plan to flood social media and television airwaves with demands that all votes be counted before victories are declared.

A senior Harris campaign official said in a conference call with reporters on Friday that they "fully expect" Trump to falsely claim victory on Tuesday night before all the votes are counted.

The Trump campaign told Reuters that the Republican candidate would fight for all votes until the polls close, but it did not directly answer whether Trump planned to again declare victory before the race was called.

<h2>No Republican farewell</h2>

In 2020, Trump's victory declaration was met with condemnation from Democrats and many high-profile Republicans. Markets reacted with a shrug, with major stock indices climbing modestly in the days after the election.

But this time could be different.

The former president has consolidated near-total control of the Republican Party in the intervening years, meaning many influential conservatives could be more willing to go along with his claims, several political strategists said.

Trump and his Republican allies have also spent months laying the groundwork for contesting a loss by claiming that non-citizens could try to vote for the Democratic Party and by readying an army of lawyers to go to court to challenge results.

US Election 2024: If Trump declares premature victory, Democrats have 'a plan'

A recent poll by Forbes released on Thursday (October 31) shows Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris having a "razor-thin one-point edge" over the Republican nominee Donald Trump.&nbsp;

The new national HarrisX/Forbes poll marked a statistically tied race just a week before the election of November 5, but here is the plot; one in 10 voters could change their mind at the last moment.&nbsp;

The poll showed Harris leading Trump with 48-49 per cent votes.&nbsp;

The poll was similar to Forbes' survey a week ago that found Trump with a 49-48 per cent lead including “leaners.”&nbsp;

The poll also showed the vice president leading with 49-48 per cent votes across the seven battleground states that are likely to determine the winner.

Around 10 per cent of potential voters and 16 per cent of registered voters are still weighing their choices, which simply means the results could be anything.&nbsp;

<h2>'Deceptive doctoring' of Harris' '60 Minutes' interview</h2>

The Forbes poll came the same day Trump sued CBS News for $10 billion over an interview of Harris aired on the agency's "60 Minutes" news program in early October that the lawsuit alleged was misleading.

The complaint alleged the network aired two different responses from Harris&nbsp;to a question about the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Trump has repeatedly assailed the network on the campaign trail over the episode and has threatened to revoke CBS's broadcasting license if elected. CBS has said Trump backed out of his own planned interview with "60 Minutes."

The version that aired during the "60 Minutes" program on Oct. 6 did not include what the lawsuit calls a "word salad" response from Harris about the Biden administration's influence on Israel's conduct of the war.

"Former President Trump’s repeated claims against 60 Minutes are false," a CBS News spokesperson said. "The lawsuit Trump has brought today against CBS is completely without merit and we will vigorously defend against it."

"The lawsuit Trump has brought today against CBS is completely without merit and we will vigorously defend against it." (With inputs from agencies)

US Presidential Election 2024: Forbes poll shows Harris NARROWLY leading Trump

US billionaire Elon Musk Thursday (Oct 31) chose not to appear at a courtroom in Philadelphia over a case brought by District Attorney Larry Krasner that concerns his super PAC's plan to award $1 million a day to voters in key battleground states. The judge, Angelo Foglietta, had earlier ordered all parties to “be present” at his civil courtroom at City Hall for a hearing.

However, earlier on Wednesday, Musk’s lawyers approached the US District Court in Philadelphia, a federal court, and filed a “motion of removal”. Simply put, Musk’s attorneys requested the matter be moved to their jurisdiction – and out of the local Court of Common Pleas. The federal court approved the request, leaving Judge Angelo Foglietta with no jurisdiction over the authority.

Meanwhile, attorneys for Krasner said they would contest the decision and demand the case be sent back to the state court.

"We will proceed to federal court and we will address the issues there and seek to have the matter remanded back to the state court. After all, this is a case that involves state law issues and I'll leave it at that," said attorney John Summers.
