The confirmation came from a Washington official who refused to divulge further details.&nbsp;“We can’t talk about the deal right now. But you can certainly talk to our friends in&nbsp;Japan&nbsp;and the Netherlands,” Guardian quoted Don Graves, deputy commerce department secretary, as saying on the sidelines of an event in Washington. &nbsp;

In October, the United States imposed sweeping export restrictions on shipments of chipmaking tools to&nbsp;restrict China’s capacity to expand its chip industry and enhance its military capabilities.&nbsp;

However, Washington needed the consensus of Netherlands and Japan, home to major chipmakers ASML and Tokyo Electron, among others.&nbsp;

In an email, the US commerce department said that it would continue to coordinate on export controls with foreign allies, calling this a “priority”. &nbsp;

On Friday, officials from the Netherlands and Japan landed in Washington to discuss a wide-ranging issue with White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan.&nbsp;

Commenting on the agreement on semiconductors, US President Joe Biden said: “Yes, we talked about a lot of things, but a lot of it is private.”&nbsp;

US has been seeking to break the monopoly of China’s semiconductor industry. Beijing has invested money into cultivating its domestic industry but its fabrication plants, known as fabs, still heavily rely on foreign-made equipment.&nbsp;

SMIC, China’s largest fab, makes chips that go into products for the automotive sector, internet-of-things devices and some smartphones.&nbsp;

After firing at least eight bullets at Anthony Lowe Jr., a 36-year-old father of two, two Huntington Park police officers were temporarily dismissed from duty on Monday (January 30).&nbsp;A man in a wheelchair allegedly stabbed someone, according to a&nbsp;police report. Officers claimed that when they got to the scene, they discovered Lowe holding a butcher knife.

Using his arms to move around the ground and trying to escape from two officers,&nbsp;Lowe is shown in video footage captured by a bystander and later uploaded on social media.

Lowe, whose family claims he had mental health concerns, allegedly disregarded verbal orders from cops and "threatened to advance or throw the knife at the officers," according to Huntington Park police.

Officers who weren't carrying body cams attempted to Taser&nbsp;Lowe twice, according to a statement from the police, but they were unable to render him unconscious.

As soon as a third cop arrived, they opened fire multiple times, shooting&nbsp;Lowe in the upper body. They put him in handcuffs after he was lying on the ground with his stomach exposed. He passed away right after.&nbsp;

“The suspect attempted to throw the butcher knife at the officers again, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred,” the LA County Sheriff's Office release said.

Lt. Hugo Reynaga confirmed two officers fired at Mr Lowe “around 10 times”.

“He tried to run away, and every time he turned around and did the motion like he was gonna throw the knife at him, they Tased him,” Lt Reynaga said. “They were trying to give this guy the less-lethal Taser shock. And because it was ineffective, they had to go to something that was more effective.”

The names of the cops who shot&nbsp;Lowe&nbsp;would be made public soon, Lt Reynaga said. He encouraged the public to let the officers to complete their investigations and stated that the officers are on leave "for a few days" while they receive psychological evaluations.

Lowe's family is now demanding that the officers be fired and charged with murder.

According to a statement by Treasury Department, US on Tuesday imposed sanctions on Myanmar's Union Election Commission, mining enterprises and energy officials, among others, reported Reuters.&nbsp;

The United States imposed sanctions on Myanmar&nbsp;earlier as well&nbsp;however this is the first time Washington has targeted Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) officials. Among other countries that also announced sanctions on Myanmar are Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.&nbsp;Canada targeted six people and imposed additional sanctions on the export, sale, supply or shipment of aviation fuel to the Myanmar military regime.&nbsp;

These latest sanctions also target the managing director and deputy managing director of MOGE. As per the Treasury Department, the state-owned enterprise, MOGE, is the junta's largest revenue-generating enterprise.&nbsp;

US also designated Myanmar's Union Minister of Energy, the key person who overlooks all the engagements pertaining to the national and international energy sector.&nbsp;Last year, while citing aerial bombings by Myanmar's military that killed as many as 100 people, Washington applied curbs on Sky Aviator, a key supplier of military aircraft parts to Myanmar's&nbsp;military.

US has been consistently calling out Myanmar's military for its brazen attempts to suppress the democratic aspirations of the people in Myanmar.&nbsp;

The United States imposed sanctions on Myanmar earlier as well however this is the first time Washington has targeted Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) officials. Among other countries that also announced sanctions on Myanmar are Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Canada targeted six people and imposed additional sanctions on the export, sale, supply or shipment of aviation fuel to the Myanmar military regime. As per the Treasury Department, the state-owned enterprise, MOGE, is the junta's largest revenue-generating enterprise. US also designated Myanmar's Union Minister of Energy, the key person who overlooks all the engagements pertaining to the national and international energy sector. Last year, while citing aerial bombings by Myanmar's military that killed as many as 100 people, Washington applied curbs on Sky Aviator, a key supplier of military aircraft parts to Myanmar's military.
