A man from Texas allegedly broke into the house of a woman in Washington and killed her and her husband early Friday (March 10), before dying by suicide. According to reports, the victims were identified as Zohreh Sadeghi, 33, and her husband Mohammed Naseri, 35. Sadeghi was a podcaster and the attacker&nbsp;Ramin Khodakaramrezaei, a 38-year-old trucker, listened to the podcast she hosted.&nbsp;

Police discovered the bodies of Sadeghi, Naseri, and Khodakaramrezaei following officers probing a call reporting shots fired within a home in Redmond, Washington, around 24 kilometres (15 miles) from Seattle.&nbsp;

Authorities said that Sadeghi's mother, who was at home at the time of the attack, escaped and called 911 from a neighbour's house at 1.45 am on Friday. In a statement, the Redmond Police said that first responders pulled Naseri out of the house and performed CPR on him but were unable to resuscitate him.&nbsp;

"Upon entering the home, officers discovered a male and female deceased inside from gunshot wounds. The stalking suspect, 38-year-old Ramin Khodakaramrezaei, was the deceased male inside the home," the police said.&nbsp;

It added Khodakaramrezaei had reportedly listened to Sadeghi's podcast and started communicating with her. "The victim and suspect became friends, but when things escalated, she filed a no-contact order against him," the Richmond Police further said.&nbsp;

Days before the attack, Sadeghi and her husband petitioned a Washington state judge for a protection order against Khodakaramrezaei. The attacker was facing stalking and harassment charges filed on March 2, a report by Fox News on Friday said.&nbsp;

Redmond officers and detectives were familiar with the victim and residence because of the ongoing stalking investigation. Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe, meanwhile, said that the investigation would continue.&nbsp;

"Our hearts go out to the victims' family and the Redmond community following this horrific tragedy. This is an incredibly sad situation and the worst possible outcome of a stalking case," Lowe said.&nbsp;

US intelligence warns of risky confrontation between India and China at LAC

US President Joe Biden on Thursday (March 9) proposed spending of more than USD 25 billion, mostly to be spent in the Indo-Pacific region with an eye on growing Chinese assertiveness. The huge expenditure will be focussed at critical infrastructure sector and defence sector.

The proposed expenditure includes over USD 15 billion of proposed investment in the infrastructure sector in the Indo-Pacific and USD 9 billion for shoring up American defence in the region.

“This Budget cements our commitment to confronting global challenges and keeping America safe. It outlines crucial investments to out-compete China globally and to continue support for Ukraine in the face of unprovoked Russian aggression,” Biden said in his message to the Congress.

Biden said it also continues his administration’s work to restore America’s global leadership – reviving key alliances and partnerships, strengthening the military, fostering democracy and human rights, protecting global health, honouring the veterans, fixing immigration systems at home, and advancing cybersecurity through implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy.

China is the United States’ only competitor with both the intent to reshape the international order and, increasingly, the economic, diplomatic, military, and technological power to do it, according to Biden’s budgetary proposals sent to the Congress Thursday noon.

During these unprecedented and extraordinary times, the Budget requests both discretionary and mandatory resources to out-compete China and advance American prosperity globally, the White House said.

Anderson explained how Beijing has been using espionage techniques, including bribery, to US contractors and&nbsp;government officials in more advanced cyber activity to obtain key data.

According to Fox News, the differences between the two militaries have somehow closed due to intellectual theft.

The Asian country began developing fighter jets back in 2008 that could compete with the US. The J-20&nbsp;first took flight in 2011, with its introduction to the service in the year&nbsp;2017.

Many reports back in 2015 began noticing similarities between the technology and capabilities of the Chinese and US fighter jets.&nbsp;

News agency AP reported that some reports even stated that the technologies turned out to have come from the US itself. 
 
China has now developed a fifth-generation stealth fighter&nbsp;that is similar to the U.S. F-22, further closing in a&nbsp;once virtually insurmountable gap between the two militaries in terms of technological capabilities, and experts claim the country managed to do so only due to continued intellectual property theft.

The rising military tensions between the US and China are receiving renewed focus after officials continue to discuss a possible invasion of Taiwan by Beijing.&nbsp;

A senior fellow for the Institute for the Study of War's China programme, Matt McInnis, highlighted China’s focus to make jet engine technology after struggling for decades to keep up with the US and western countries.

Mclnnis joking about China's capabilities said,&nbsp;"That’s always the joke … will the Chinese ever be able to produce their own jet engine?"&nbsp;According to him, the drive to understand the sophisticated jet engines of the US has always remained significant for Chinese spies.&nbsp;

He even pointed to the case of Yanju Xu in 2022, where the Chinese spy was convicted of stealing trade and engine secrets from multiple US aviation, and aerospace companies.

Under the DPA, the Justice Department had agreed to hold off prosecuting Ericsson for three years if it paid a steep penalty, implemented "rigorous internal controls", complied with U.S. laws and cooperated fully on any ongoing investigations.

"Ericsson breached the DPA by violating the agreement's cooperation and disclosure provisions," the Justice Department said in a statement.

Though such agreement breaches have been historically rare, the Justice Department has warned a number of companies under President Joe Biden as it cracks down on corporate misconduct and repeat offenders.

The company will be required to serve a probation term through June 2024, and agreed to a one-year extension of an independent compliance monitor, the department added.

Ericsson previously paid a total criminal penalty of more than $520 million and agreed to the imposition of an independent compliance monitor for three years, the Justice Department said on Thursday, referring to the 2019 settlement.

"This resolution is a stark reminder of the historical misconduct that led to the DPA. We have learned from that and we are on an important journey to transform our culture," Ericsson CEO Borje Ekholm said in a statement.

Ericsson last year disclosed that a 2019 internal probe had identified payments designed to circumvent Iraqi customs at a time when militant organizations, including Islamic State, controlled some routes.

James "Jimmy" Chilimigras took the law school admission test last year when he was just 14 years old and achieved a 174, the best score in his native Mississippi, as well as the states of Alabama and Louisiana, reported Mississippi-based TV station WLOX.

Jimmy, who has an accounting master's and a bachelor's degree from the online, nonprofit Western Governors University, told WLOX that he is giving himself time until May to make up his mind about going to law school. Austin said, "Now, our defence cooperation against Daesh is a key pillar of our bilateral relationship, and the United States remains committed to this fight in support of Iraq's security and the security of the entire region."

An Indian student travelling on&nbsp;an American Airlines flight from New York, United States to New Delhi allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger mid-air while he was intoxicated. The incident occurred on Saturday (March 4), an official told ANI on Sunday. The accused was later identified as 21-year-old Arya Vohra and has since been banned by the airlines. He was detained by the Delhi Police upon arrival who assured “strongest possible action” against him and have since registered a case.&nbsp;

What happened?

The incident took place on American Airlines’ flight AA292 travelling from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport which landed safely at 9:50 pm (late Saturday), said a statement by American Airlines, reported ANI.&nbsp;

It added, “Upon aircraft arrival, the purser informed that the passenger was heavily intoxicated, and was not adhering to crew instructions on board. He was repeatedly arguing with the operating crew, was not willing to be seated and continuously endangering the safety of crew and aircraft and after disturbing the safety of fellow passengers, finally urinated on pax seated on 15G.”&nbsp;

Prior to landing at the Delhi airport, the American Airlines pilot contacted the ATC informing them about an unruly passenger on board and sought security personnel.

Speaking about the complaint filed by the American Airlines, Devesh Kumar Mahla, DCP, IGI Airport told ANI, “They stated that he did not behave properly and created a nuisance and also urinated on the co-passenger. On the basis of the complaint we are contemplating action under IPC and Civil Aviation Act.” He added that they will take the “strongest action possible” against him to deter other flyers from such behaviour in the future.&nbsp;

“A case has been registered in the matter. We will do our best in this case. The accused Arya Vohra has been released,” the police official told ANI. According to the DCP, the airline has submitted a written complaint while the victim has not come forward, however, action will be taken on the basis of the statement by American Airlines.&nbsp;

“We have got a report from the concerned airline. They seem to have handled the situation professionally and taken all appropriate action,” an official from the Indian aviation regulatory body told ANI. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) has also sought a detailed report of the incident from the airline.&nbsp;

This comes months after a passenger travelling from New York to New Delhi on an Air India flight allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger who was in her 70s. The man later identified as Shankar Mishra was also said to be inebriated when the incident took place in November&nbsp;last year.

The incident occurred on Saturday (March 4), an official told ANI on Sunday. The accused was later identified as 21-year-old Arya Vohra and has since been banned by the airlines. He was detained by the Delhi Police upon arrival who assured “strongest possible action” against him and have since registered a case. What happened? The incident took place on American Airlines’ flight AA292 travelling from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport which landed safely at 9:50 pm (late Saturday), said a statement by American Airlines, reported ANI. It added, “Upon aircraft arrival, the purser informed that the passenger was heavily intoxicated, and was not adhering to crew instructions on board. American Airlines bans unruly, inebriated Indian student for urinating on co-passenger: Report

On March 4, US Army General Mark Milley, chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff made an unannounced visit to Syria. He reviewed nearly eight-year-old US mission to an area controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).&nbsp;

Turkey sees the People's Protection Units (YPG), the spearhead of the SDF, as the Syrian wing of the outlawed separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and considers both as terrorist organisations.

The United States and the European Union have also designated the PKK as a terrorist group, but not the YPG.

The SDF has played a key role in defeating Islamic State across Syria. However, US support for SDF has been a source of tension with Turkey for years.

During his unannounced visit to Syria, General Milley had said that US mission in Syria was still worth the risk.

"I happen to think that's important," Milley said.

"So I think that an enduring defeat of ISIS and continuing to support our friends and allies in the region ... I think those are important tasks that can be done."
