Following a grim warning that its future is looking fuzzy, Tupperware's stock plunged by close to 50 per cent&nbsp;on Monday (April 10).

The container manufacturer said there is "substantial doubt" about the company's capacity to continue as a going concern in a regulatory filing late Friday and that it is working with financial advisers to find financing to stay afloat.

Tupperware claimed that if it doesn't obtain extra funding, company won't have enough cash to support its operations. According to the corporation, it is looking into possible layoffs and assessing its real estate holdings for potential cost-saving measures.

The New York Stock Exchange also issued a warning that Tupperware's stock may be delisted for failing to submit the necessary annual report, reported CNN.

“Tupperware has embarked on a journey to turn around our operations and today marks a critical step in addressing our capital and liquidity position,” CEO Miguel Fernandez said in a press release. “The company is doing everything in its power to mitigate the impacts of recent events, and we are taking immediate action to seek additional financing and address our financial position.”

The 77-year-old company has had difficulty staying competitive with rivals in recent years. With newer and trendier products, it has been attempting to shed its stuffy reputation and draw in new customers. It also reached a sales agreement with Target last year.

Neil Saunders, retail analyst and managing director at GlobalData Retail who spoke to CNN,&nbsp;claims that Tupperware is suffering from a "sharp decline in the number of sellers, a consumer pullback on home products, and a brand that still does not fully connect with younger consumers."

“The company used to be a hotbed of innovation with problem-solving kitchen gadgets, but it has really lost its edge,” he said.

The move into Target, according to Tupperware (TUP), is a part of the brand's reinvention, which also includes efforts to expand through various retail channels and expose its products to younger consumers who have never even heard of Tupperware (TUP) parties.

However, that hasn't worked out so far because shares have fallen 90 per cent&nbsp;in the last year. In November, it again issued a "going concern" alert.

A grand jury in the US state of Virginia indicted the mother of a six-year-old boy, on Monday (April 10) after he shot his teacher, earlier this year. The incident took place, in January&nbsp;when a boy shot his elementary school teacher in the city of Newport News, United States. After months,&nbsp;his mother, Deja Taylor has been charged with&nbsp;child neglect and one count of a firearm-related offence, said the office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.&nbsp;

This also comes a month after Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney Howard Gwynn had said that the child will not be criminally charged. Meanwhile, his 25-year-old mother was indicted by a grand jury and was charged with felony child neglect and a misdemeanour charge of endangering a child by reckless storage of a firearm, said Gwynn, in a statement.&nbsp;

Taylor’s son had shot Abigail Zwerner, a 25-year-old teacher, who earlier this month also filed a $40 million negligence lawsuit against the school authorities following the incident at Richneck Elementary School. Zwerner who was shot on January 6 was later taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her hand and chest, as per media reports citing officials.&nbsp;

According to the statement, the indictment, on Monday, comes after a “thorough investigation” from the police and the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office. “Every criminal case is unique in its facts, and these facts support these charges, but our investigation into the shooting continues,” said Gwynn. The prosecutor has also said that the grand jury would continue to investigate and consider if additional charges are warranted in this case.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, one of the attorneys for the family, James Ellenson in a statement said that Taylor “will be turning herself in later this week,” reported CNN. He also reportedly declined to further comment on the indictment.&nbsp;

Last week, Ellenson also said that the allegations in the lawsuit against the child and the family “should be taken with a large grain of salt.” He added, “We of course continue to pray for Ms. Zwerner’s complete recovery.” This came after the 25-year-old teacher had filed the lawsuit which sought $40 million in compensatory damages. She alleged that the school staff and officials were aware of the student’s “history of random violence.”&nbsp;

The lawsuit also accuses the then-assistant principal of overlooking the concerns raised by several teachers and staff members which also included warnings over the six-year-old’s possible possession of a firearm and did not act proactively. Diane Toscano, an attorney for Zwerner, reacting to the indictment said there were “failures in accountability at multiple levels” that led to the shooting.&nbsp;

“Today’s announcement addresses but one of those failures,” said Toscano, in a statement. Notably, the six-year-old, during the first half of the school year, was required to be accompanied by a parent “because of his violent tendencies,” as per media reports citing court documents. However, on the day that the incident occurred, the school had allowed him to remain “unaccompanied without a one-on-one companion”.&nbsp;

The theorem states that in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse, the side opposite the right angle, is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides, the legs.&nbsp;

This theorem has numerous applications and is used in designing bridges, buildings, and other structures.

As per the abstract by these two students, mathematicians have long insisted that any assertion that the Pythagorean theorem can be proved using trigonometry is logical fallacy. Logical fallacy, also known as circular reasoning, is the term used when someone tries to prove an idea with the idea itself. When this occurs, the end of an argument comes back to the beginning without proving itself.

The book, The Pythagorean Proposition by Elisha Loomis, which contains the largest known collection of theorem proofs, “flatly states that ‘there are no trigonometric proofs because all the fundamental formulae of trigonometry are themselves based upon the truth of the Pythagorean theorem, " the abstract says.&nbsp;

In the abstract, they counter the arguments saying “that isn’t quite true.” The duo said, “We present a new proof of Pythagoras’s Theorem which is based on a fundamental result in trigonometry – the Law of Sines – and we show that the proof is independent of the Pythagorean trig identity sin2x+cos2x=1.”&nbsp;

In other words, they say they could demonstrate the theorem without employing to circular reasoning and by simply utilising trigonometry.

With effect from 30 May 2023, the United States increased some nonimmigrant visa (NIV) application processing costs, making student and tourist visas more expensive, as per US State Department.&nbsp;

The application fee has gone up from $160 to $185 for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s), as well as other non-petition-based NIVs including student and exchange visitor visas.

For several petition-based nonimmigrant worker visas, H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories, the application fee has increased from $190 to $205.

H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas are for temporary workers, those who wish to visit the United States for employment that will last a set amount of time. There are several categories exist within them based on the nature of employment.

Treaty traders, investors, and applicants in speciality occupations, E category, now have to pay a $315 application fee instead of the previous $205 amount.

All other consular fees remain&nbsp;unchanged. No further fees will be assessed to applicants who have previously paid a valid and non-expiring visa application fee but have not yet appeared for their visa interview or are awaiting their case processing.

Any fee payment&nbsp;for a visa interview made on or after 1 October 2022 is valid for 365 days from the day the fee payment invoice was issued.&nbsp;

The validity of fees paid by applicants prior to October 1, 2022 will last through 30 September, 2023.&nbsp;

As per State Department, visa fees are determined based on the findings of an annual review of service costs. The majority of non-petition-based NIV costs last underwent an upgrade in 2012, while certain additional NIV fees underwent an update in 2014.

"Visas for work and tourism are essential to President Biden’s foreign policy, and we recognize the critical role international travel plays in the U.S. economy," the US State Department said in a statement.&nbsp;

The application fee has gone up from $160 to $185 for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s), as well as other non-petition-based NIVs including student and exchange visitor visas. For several petition-based nonimmigrant worker visas, H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories, the application fee has increased from $190 to $205. H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas are for temporary workers, those who wish to visit the United States for employment that will last a set amount of time. There are several categories exist within them based on the nature of employment. All other consular fees remain unchanged. No further fees will be assessed to applicants who have previously paid a valid and non-expiring visa application fee but have not yet appeared for their visa interview or are awaiting their case processing. Any fee payment for a visa interview made on or after 1 October 2022 is valid for 365 days from the day the fee payment invoice was issued. The validity of fees paid by applicants prior to October 1, 2022 will last through 30 September, 2023. As per State Department, visa fees are determined based on the findings of an annual review of service costs. The majority of non-petition-based NIV costs last underwent an upgrade in 2012, while certain additional NIV fees underwent an update in 2014. As far as India is concerned, the US State Department hopes to grant 1 million visas to Indians this year, surpassing the figure of around 800,000 issued prior to the pandemic, according to Julie Stufft, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Visa Services, who spoke to Press Trust of India earlier.
