The movie has been creating havoc at the box office ever since its release on 11th January. The film has crossed Rs 50 crore within the first week of its release. The film told the tale of the surgical strikes conducted on Pakistan militant launchpads.</p>

<p>'The Accidental Prime Minister', the other big Bollywood film which hit the big screens on Friday, recorded 'decent numbers' on its opening day.</p>

<p>According to Adarsh, the film earned Rs. 4.50 crore at the domestic box office.</p>

<p>Actor Vicky Kaushal who is been seen enthusiastically promoting his highly awaited upcoming film 'Uri', has now spread the ' josh' to his Bollywood friends as well.<br />
A day before the film's release, the actor got an airplane full of stars saying out loud the powerful trending lines from the film 'Uri'.</p>

<p>As a bunch of young Bollywood stars made their way to New Delhi to meet the PM, Vicky took the opportunity to get his friends to promote his film mid-air.<br />

He shared a video on his Instagram page which had him along with other stars of the fraternity cheering for ' Uri'.&nbsp;<br />

“Guys I have something to say to you,” he says to the camera and shows the faces of all the stars behind him. “How’s the josh?” he asks the group, screaming at the top of his lungs, just like his character from the film. And just like his soldiers from the films, the stars also respond with all their might, “High, Sir!” They also chant ‘Jai Hind’ and when Vicky asks when Uri is releasing, they say “Tomorrow!"</p>

<p>With back-to-back hits in 2018 Vicky Kaushal may have become one of the most sought-after actors from the younger lot, but he is aware that success and failure go hand-in-hand.&nbsp;<br />

The 30-year-old actor, who was part of films like 'Raazi', 'Sanju', 'Manmarziyaan' and Netflix's 'Lust Stories' and 'Love Per Square Foot', said his aim as a performer is not to repeat himself.&nbsp;<br />

"My only attempt is to keep surprising the audience. I want to be honest to a character that I play. I have started, I might fall, might get up, then again fall and rise and this will continue to happen. But I will never stop trying," Vicky told PTI.<br />

<p>The makers of the upcoming film on Indian Army’s surgical strikes ‘Uri’ have now released a short new teaser featuring the character of <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/uri-yami-gautam-looks-intense-in-the-first-look-from-the-film-181502">Yami Gautam</a> in the forefront as she answers the media in a press conference.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Soon after, someone can be heard asking if she really knew what Surgical strike is, to which, she answers saying, "Surgical strike is when someone comes strikes and leaves even before one realizes it,” and adds, "like how these soldiers took position and you guys didn't even notice it..."</p>

<p>The answer is then followed with three soldiers who were initially appearing as part of a poster, start walking towards the frame, closer to Yami. The three soldiers include Vicky Kaushal’s character too. Vicky then comes to fore and says: "Yeh naya Hindustan hai! ye Hindustan ghar mein ghusega bhi aur marega bhi" (This is new India. This India will enter the house and attack too)&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was the time when alert Army men at Dulanja area of Uri noticed the suspicious movement and the terrorist in the boat were challenged.</p>

<p>The battle lasted for hours and a search operation was launched in this regard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Divulging details of the operation, Brigadier YS Ahlawat 12 sector said, &ldquo;Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were killed while they were trying to cross the Jhelum river in a boat in Uri sector. The bodies of four terrorists have been recovered while the body of the fifth suicide attacker is lying on the other side of the Jhelum&quot;&nbsp;</p>

<p>He further added, &quot;A major infiltration bid by a suicide group has been foiled along the Line of Control (LoC). A major tragedy has been averted on the Army Day. Alert Army troops tracked their movement and were successful in eliminating five terrorists.&quot;</p>

<p>Arms and ammunition including four AK-47, 3 UBGL (under barrel grenade launcher) 38 UBGL grenades, 23 hand grenades and 9 IEDs were recovered during search operations, indicating the terrorists had planned of something big ahead of the Republic Day.</p>

<p>Terrorists on Sunday hurled a grenade at a house of a National Conference leader Gulam Nabi Bhat in Kashmir&#39;s terrorist-infested town of Tral&nbsp;in Pulwama district, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said.</p>

<p>A parliamentary panel has rapped intelligence agencies for the terror attacks in Pathankot, Uri and a few other places saying these strikes &quot;exposed the deficiencies&quot; of the agencies but there was no analysis of their &quot;failure&quot;.</p>

<p>Moreover, it said, no analysis seems to have been done of the &quot;failure&quot; of the intelligence agencies to provide credible and actionable inputs regarding the attacks at Pathankot, Uri, Pampore, Baramulla and Nagrota.</p>

<p>&quot;The committee feels that these attacks have exposed the deficiencies of our intelligence agencies,&quot; it said.</p>

<p>While in the Pathankot attack, seven security personnel were killed, 19 army soldiers lost their lives in the attack at the Brigade headquarters in Uri on September 18 last year.</p>

<p>Terrorists also attacked a convoy of CRPF vehicles on June 25, 2016 at Pampore along the Srinagar-Jammu highway, killing eight paramilitary personnel.</p>

<p>While in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, militants attacked a camp of the Rashtriya Rifles killing a security personnel on October 3, 2016, seven soldiers were killed when an army base in Nagrota in the state was attacked by militants on November 29, 2016.</p>

<p>&quot;The committee, therefore, recommends that the (Home) ministry should instruct the NIA to complete the investigations of these attacks at the earliest so as to identify the loopholes in the intelligence setup in the border areas,&quot; it said.</p>

<p>Taking note of &quot;huge rise&quot; in the number of infiltration, the committee said the government must carry out a thorough investigation into the sudden spurt in infiltration attempts along the Line of Control from across the border and find out vulnerabilities that are being apparently exploited by the infiltrators.</p>

<p>There were 364 attempts of infiltration in 2016 of which 112 were successful in comparison to 121 infiltration attempts and 33 net infiltration in 2015.</p>

<p>The committee also noted that there has been an increasing number of incidents of infiltration through tunnels from across the border.</p>

<p>The panel felt that in future this might become a major modus operandi of the infiltrators and the government must take proactive steps to foil such attempts.</p>

<p>When India carried out the attacks on terror camps across the LoC, its objectives were clear that it was striking at terrorists that Pakistan could not find. It also made it clear to the government and military in Pakistan that this was not an attack against the Pakistani army. India was avenging the Uri attack for which the terrorists have claimed responsibility. Pakistan had denied its role in Uri, so the objective of India was crystal clear. New Delhi is no longer going to only talk, but is now ready to neutralise terrorists and flatten any launch pad. The time for restraint for India is over and this is the occasion for New Delhi to exercise all options, but without being callous about them.</p>

<p><b>Military restraint</b></p>

<p>Strategic restraint is useful only when it is part of the strategy. But when that restraint becomes a habit, it is looked upon as weakness. India has reached that point. Terrorists would attack, and India would say that it would take action and then one more attack would take place. The Indian population&rsquo;s endurance limit has already been stretched thin, and it is no longer willing to suffer another infiltration.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi understood this well. He knew that he couldn&rsquo;t be seen as a warmonger but he was also not willing to be perceived as a weak leader. When he came to power he reached out like a statesman to Pakistan&rsquo;s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, hoping that there would be an opportunity for peace. But Sharif is incapable of controlling the elements in Pakistan which some describe as non-state actors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The presence of guns in Pakistan in almost every home makes it difficult for the state to control the violence that unfolds. So even if Sharif had wanted, he could not have controlled these groups.</p>

<p>Exercising control over such outfits would have been a strategic restraint on the Pakistani side but it does not seem to be a possibility. The inclusion of non-state actors as part of its strategy has been Pakistan&rsquo;s challenge. Once the gun culture seeps in and groups are formed on the basis of religion with the goal to create a religious state, matters spiral out of control.</p>

<p><b>Nuclear restraint</b></p>

<p>If these were two countries fighting a conventional war, the story would have been different. But they are nuclear powers. They have an arsenal strength of close to 200 weapons and capable of delivering warheads deep inside each other&rsquo;s territory.</p>

<p>I remember sitting with Hamid Gul, the former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence. He thought he was joking with me and said that his son, an F 16 pilot, was capable of delivering a nuclear weapon as far away as Bangalore. I laughed it off, but the reality is that we should not be looking at these weapons of mass destruction as options.</p>

<p>According to the 2007 study by researchers from Rutgers University, University of Colorado-Boulder and University of California, if India and Pakistan enter into a nuclear war, 21 million people would be killed within the first week of the war itself. It will not only be devastating for the two countries in question, but also for the people around the world. A nuclear war would result in dramatic climatic changes, putting at least 2 billion people around the world at a risk of severe starvation. So, even a reckless statement from either side reduces the sensitivity required to handle these weapons of mass destruction.</p>

<p>While these nuclear weapons were not made for display, they should be used only as the last resort. They are more like &lsquo;deterrents&rsquo; for other nations. India has shown maturity by pledging to the no-first-use policy. This means that in the case of a war, India would not be the first one to use nuclear weapons against any nation. But if a weapon is launched towards it, then it can empty its whole arsenal. However, Pakistan has not taken a similar pledge.</p>

<p><b>How much time does India have to respond to an incoming nuclear weapon?</b></p>

<p>Once a nuclear-tipped missile is launched and has taken trajectory, it would take about 7 minutes to reach its destination or be intercepted.</p>

<p>In May 2016, the successful test of Ashvin, a defence interceptor supersonic missile, by India, tipped the balance towards New Delhi. Ashvin is a missile that India would launch once it is alerted that a nuclear missile has been unleashed.</p>

<p>Nuclear missiles have a signature and the Israelis have worked with India to develop the ability to read that signature. This deterrence is essential but it is still not enough. Because an initial attack on India would be twin strategies of conventional and nuclear warfare, a couple of missiles may breach India&rsquo;s security systems. Pakistan may have a few systems in place as well. The Chinese would have possibly also equipped them with some defence systems.</p>

<p><b>Is there a way forward?</b></p>

<p>War is in nobody&rsquo;s interest but there is also no scope for low-intensity on-going terrorism. India has reached a stage where public support for restraint is over. Indians are willing to fight it once and for all.</p>

<p>So, if this precipitates a full-scale war then there will be casualties. Some estimates put them at 200 million with climatic impact as far as the US. It is the cost of war many would say. And in this case, it would impact the human race for a long time to come.</p>

<p>But there is a way out for secular democracies to flourish and coexist. The choice is with the leadership in both countries. History for them should not become the burden of memory.</p>

Indians are willing to fight it once and for all. So, if this precipitates a full-scale war then there will be casualties. Some estimates put them at 200 million with climatic impact as far as the US. It is the cost of war many would say. And in this case, it would impact the human race for a long time to come. But there is a way out for secular democracies to flourish and coexist. The choice is with the leadership in both countries. History for them should not become the burden of memory.

India&#39;s interior minister Rajnath Singh has accused Pakistan of orchestrating the attack. &quot;Pakistan is a terrorist state and it should be&nbsp;identified&nbsp;and isolated as such,&quot; the senior minister said, PTI reported.<br />
