The Russian defence ministry officially confirmed that the forces completely evacuated the region west of the Dnipro River in what they called a “strategic decision” taken by the Kremlin.

“In the Kherson direction, the move of Russian military units to the left bank of the Dnieper River was completed at 0500 [Moscow time] this morning,” the ministry said on Telegram.

“Not a single piece of military equipment or weaponry was left behind on the right bank. All Russian servicemen have moved to the left bank of the Dnieper” – the Russian spelling for the river.”

The Ukrainian government previously expressed their fear that Russian forces can create a lot of damage while retreating from their position in Kherson. &nbsp;

The fears were somewhat confirmed once again as videos showed that the Antonivskyi Bridge on the Dnipro River was damaged following the evacuation.

If Russia decides to launch such a strike, it may disable Ukraine's civilian infrastructure just when winter months are approaching. The electromagnetic strike may deal a hammer blow to Ukrainian forces' ability to defend the country.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 this year. After initial months of sustained battlefield victories, the Russian forces have had to retreat in face of Ukrainian counter-offensive. Ukrainian forces have been able to recapture thousands of square miles of land.

Russian travel credentials issued to residents of certain territories cannot be used to get visas or enter the Schengen area as a result of the decision, which also applies to two Georgian regions under the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation.

"This decision is a response to Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine and Russia's practice of issuing Russian international passports to residents of the occupied regions," the European Council said in a statement.

The European Parliament and EU member states still need to formally approve the move.&nbsp;

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, unilaterally claimed four areas of Ukraine in September. This announcement was highly denounced by the world community. In 2014, Moscow also annexed the Crimean Peninsula of Ukraine.&nbsp;

Pope Francis said on Sunday (November 6) that he prayed for "suffering peoples of the Middle East," as he ended his Bahrain visit. The visit was organised to promote dialogue with Islam but was marked by accusations of rights abuses in Gulf state.

In a final address, he told Lebanese congregants he was praying for "your beloved country, so weary and sorely tried, as well as (for) all peoples suffering in the Middle East".

On the return flight, Francis spoke in an in-air press conference and called on Lebanese policians to "put aside...personal interests" and and come to an agreement on filling a power vacuum in the crisis-hit country, which currently has no president.

"Look at the country and come to an agreement... Let Lebanon regain its greatness," he urged them.

The 85-year-old Argentinian met both, senior Muslim officials as well as Catholic residents of the Gulf. He held an open-air mass on Saturday for about 30,000 people many of whom were moved to tears by the occasion.

Bahrain, which established formal ties with the Holy See in 2000, has around 80,000 Catholic residents. Most are workers from the Philippines and other Asian countries.

In his final address, the pope also urged congregants to pray "for Ukraine, which is suffering so much", and for an end to the war.

The Ukrainian forces have regained a lot of ground in the past few months and the government is looking to use this move to boost their current position.&nbsp;

The move was also defended by defence minister Oleksii Reznikov who said that this move should not be seen as “nationalisation of resources” and the companies will be returned once the conflict ends.&nbsp;

Reznikov also thanked the United States, Norway, and Spain for providing NASAMS and Aspide air-defense systems as Russian air strikes have almost doubled in recent times. “We will continue to shoot down the enemy targets attacking us,” Reznikov said in a tweet according to Reuters.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv continued to experience massive power cuts due to Russian attacks on key infrastructures around the city. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko told the citizens on Monday that the situation can remain the same and they can face many similar situations during the winter.&nbsp;
