In a recent interview, Ukraine’s presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said that Kyiv and its Western allies are in the midst of negotiating for long-range missiles and fighter jets to push back Russian forces. The top aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke about how their Western allies have been “conservative” about arms deliveries as they fear changes in the “international architecture”&nbsp;amid the ongoing conflict, reported the Associated Press. &nbsp;

“To drastically reduce the Russian army’s key weapon — the artillery they use today on the front lines — we need missiles that will destroy their depots,”&nbsp;said Podolyak to the country’s Freedom channel, as per Reuters. This comes after Washington and Berlin along with several other European countries announced that they would send their advanced battle tanks, German-made Leopard 2 tanks and US-made M1 Abrams to Ukraine.

In reference to Russia’s weapon depots, the Ukrainian top aide claimed that there were more than 100 artillery warehouses in the Moscow-occupied Crimean Peninsula. “We need to work with this. We must show (our partners) the real picture of this war,”&nbsp;said the Ukrainian official, without mentioning any particular countries.&nbsp;

Secondly, negotiations are proceeding at an accelerated pace.”&nbsp;

In his evening video address, Zelensky said, “Ukraine needs long-range missiles...to deprive the occupier of the opportunity to place its missile launchers somewhere far from the front line and destroy Ukrainian cities.” The Ukrainian president also said that the country needs US-made ATACMS missiles which have a range of 297 km, however, Washington has so far declined to provide the weapon, reported Reuters. &nbsp;

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov, while speaking to the Russian news agency TASS, said that Moscow is aware of the operations being conducted by the United States against them in the information space by recruiting hackers and providing training to Ukraine's IT army.

"It is telling that the United States is putting its aggressive policies into action. They made no attempt to conceal the fact that their cyber command is conducting operations against our country. We are well aware that Washington is aggressively recruiting hackers, training the so-called IT Army of Ukraine, and using information and communication technologies of their partners and controlled private companies to carry out cyberattacks against Russia's information infrastructure," Syromolotov said while speaking to TASS.

He added that Washington and its allies have been supporting risky digital tactics. The Russian deputy foreign minister said that the United States is "openly moving towards the militarisation of the information domain," although the majority of United Nations member states wish that the information technologies be used peacefully.

Minister Syromolotov further alleged the US of "burning the bridges" to continue any kind of dialogue with Moscow over global cybersecurity issues.

"We don’t see any prerequisites for resuming dialogue on global cybersecurity with Washington at this point. I would like to reiterate that it wasn’t our choice, it was the Americans who burned the bridges. We won’t run after anyone. We aren’t interested in dialogue for the sake of dialogue. When those overseas sober up from their Russophobic frenzy and get in the mood for a constructive conversation, then we will probably think about resuming contact," he stated.

Syromolotov further stated that dialogue on the cybersecurity issue between the Kremlin and the White House was suspended by the US, citing the military operation being carried out by Russia in Ukraine.

The ancient centre of Odessa, a port city in Ukraine that is sometimes referred to as "the pearl of the Black Sea," was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List on Wednesday (January 25) despite opposition from Russia. With six votes in favour, one against, and 14 abstentions, the world heritage committee's 21 member nations accepted the city's designation as a world historic site.

Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February last year, repeatedly tried to delay the vote to recognise the site's "outstanding universal value" and "the duty of all humanity to protect it".

"While the war continues, this inscription embodies our collective determination to ensure that this city, which has always surmounted global upheavals, is preserved from further destruction," said UNESCO director-general Audrey Azoulay after the decision.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, hailed the decision. He had asked for the classification in October to protect the city from Russian bombing.&nbsp;"Today Odessa got UNESCO protection," he said on Twitter.&nbsp;"I'm grateful to partners who help protect our pearl from the Russian invaders' attacks," he added.

Since the Russian invasion, Ukrainians have hastily tried to use sandbags and barriers to try to safeguard the city's landmarks and structures.

The site was also added to the List of World Heritage in Danger, which UNESCO says "gives it access to reinforced technical and financial international assistance" to protect or, if necessary, rehabilitate it.

The agency also stated that it has already assisted with repairs for damage sustained at the Odessa Museum of Fine Arts and the Odessa Museum of Modern Art since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war.
