Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited London Wednesday and urged allies to send combat fighter jets to his war-torn country.&nbsp;

Sending out a strong message to UK, Russia said that it would respond if Britain sends warplanes to Ukraine. It also warned that if UK continued with the aid it will result in further escalation in the war.

“Russia will find a response to any unfriendly steps taken by the British side," multiple Russian news agencies reported quoting statement by Moscow’s embassy in London, as per AFP.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Russian embassy cautioned London saying that the country would bear responsibility for the “'bloody harvest’ of the next round of escalation as well as military and political consequences ensuing from this for the European continent and the whole world."&nbsp;

Sunak on Wednesday while addressing a joint news conference with Zelensky said that fighter jets for Ukraine were part of their discussions.

Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters was denounced by Ukraine Wednesday after he told the United Nations Security Council that Russia's invasion of its neighbour was "not unprovoked."

Ukraine's UN ambassador hit back, playing on the title of one of Pink Floyd's most famous songs.

"How sad for his former fans to see him accepting the role of just a brick in the wall, a wall of Russian disinformation and propaganda," said Sergiy Kyslytsya.&nbsp;Kyiv's representative even referenced the giant inflatable pink pig that featured in many of the progressive rock band's shows.

He said he was surprised the bassist had not arranged to have it floating in the Security Council chamber.

"What could it have been this time Mr Waters? Pigs with swastikas and the hammer and sickle?" Kyslytsya asked during the surreal discussion.

The Council has held numerous debates on the war but has failed to take any action due to Russia's veto.

"If this is a toothless chamber, I can open my big mouth on behalf of the voices without fear of getting my head bitten off," Waters said.

Russia requested the meeting to discuss arms supplied to Ukraine by the West.

US deputy ambassador Richard Mills said of Waters: "While I certainly acknowledge his impressive credentials as a recording artist, his qualifications to speak to us as an expert briefer on arms control or European security issues, are less evident to me." 
Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzia welcomed the participation of a man he called "one of the most prominent activists of the contemporary anti-war movement."

Last September, Waters was declared persona non grata by the Polish city of Krakow after his concerts were scrapped there over his war stance.

Waters had written an open letter that month saying the West should stop providing arms to Kyiv, accusing President Volodymyr Zelensky of allowing "extreme nationalism" in Ukraine and urging him to "put an end to this deadly war."

This week, Pink Floyd songwriter Polly Samson, wife of band member David Gilmour, called Waters "anti-Semitic" and "a Putin apologist" in a tweet.

Waters responded by posting a statement on Twitter that said he "refutes entirely" Samson's accusation.

Germany's prosecutor general said on Sunday (February 5) that his office was in possession of 'hundreds' of pieces of evidence that point to war crimes by Russian forces in Ukraine. He called for international effort to bring leaders to justice. "At the moment, we are focusing on mass killings in Bucha and attacks on Ukraine's civil infrastructure," prosecutor Peter Frank told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

Frank said that most of the evidence was gathered from interviews with Ukrainian refugees. He added that the goal was now to "prepare for a possible later court case — whether in Germany or with our foreign partners or an international court".

Frank's office has previously used the principle of universal jurisdiction, which allows the prosecution of certain grave crimes regardless of where they took place, to try Syrians over atrocities committed during the country's civil war.

Under the same principle, a group of people from Myanmar last month filed a criminal complaint in Germany, accusing their country's military of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Frank said his office had begun its Ukraine inquiry in March 2022.

"We are not targeting certain specific people in the investigation but rather are collecting information and evidence," he said.

He acknowledged, however, that prosecution of suspected war criminals in Germany was possible only if they were in the country.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock last month called for a tribunal to get around the fact that the International Criminal Court (ICC), despite launching it own investigation last year, cannot prosecute Russia for any possible war crimes since neither Russia nor Ukraine are members of the Hague-based court.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian military intelligence spokesperson, Vadym Skibitsky, said Kyiv believes that Russian offensives will take place in the eastern and southern regions of the country, reported the Associated Press. He added that Moscow’s forces will likely push an offensive in the Donbas region and the southern Zaporizhzhia region.&nbsp;

Notably, many believe that the conflict is reaching a turning point with its one-year anniversary approaching and so far Ukraine is not faring well as it is no longer making gains which it did late last year, media reports indicate. On the other hand, Russia has been pushing forward with hundreds of thousands of mobilised reserve troops. The Ukrainian military intelligence spokesperson also said that Russia plans to mobilise another 300,000-500,000 in addition to the 300,000 mobilised previously.&nbsp;

Similarly, in a separate interview, Ukrainian defence analyst from the Information Resistance group, Oleksandr Kovalenko said, that the new Russian offensive can come from one of four directions like the eastern Luhansk region, the Donetsk region, the Zaporizhzhia region and the city and port of Mariupol. He added, “Things are more serious in the Donetsk region, particularly around Bakhmut and Avdiivka. And the Russians will be boosting their contingents there as well as equipment and paratroops,” reported Reuters citing Ukrainian radio NV.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, in his evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said there will be personnel changes at the border and along the frontlines in a bid to bolster the country’s military efforts. This also comes amid the ongoing uncertainty over the future of Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov which Zelensky did not provide any clarity on but spoke about wanting to combine military and managerial experience in local and central government.&nbsp;

On Sunday, David Arakhamia, head of Zelensky’s parliamentary bloc had said that Reznikov would be transferred to another ministerial job but the next day backtracked and said there will be no changes in “personnel changes in the defence sector this week.” Meanwhile, Zelensky also said, “In a number of regions, particularly those on the border or on the front line, we will appoint leaders with military experience.”

A report published by the Ukrainian military claimed that convicted women are being recruited by Russia from penal colonies in Ukraine's occupied regions to help Moscow in its war effort.

The military of Ukraine, in its intelligence report, stated that attempts are being made by the Russian forces to "replenish" their army.

“In order to replenish the losses in manpower, the enemy is trying to attract convicted women to participate in hostilities. Over the course of a week, the occupiers recruited about 50 people from the women's correctional colony of the city of Snizhne in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region. It is also known that they were sent to the territory of the Russian Federation for training,” said the statement.

A partial mobilisation was ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin in September 2022 which was aimed at adding 300,000 reservists to support the country's military campaign.

However, according to the latest reports, homeless people and those who have very less military experience were being recruited by Russia to reinforce its army.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Ukraine's Kharkiv said that the city's centre was hit by two Russian S-300 missiles.

Russia 'recruiting female prisoners' to contribute to Ukraine war, report claims

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's close ally on Sunday said that the country's Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov is set to be replaced with the military spy agency's chief in a wartime reshuffle.

Chief of Servant of the People parliamentary bloc and senior lawmaker David Arakhamia said that Reznikov would be given another ministerial position and his position will be filled by the GUR military intelligence agency's head Kyrylo Budanov.

"War dictates changes in personnel policy," said Arakhamia, using the Telegram messaging app.

Replacing of the country's defence minister would be the highest profile reshuffle in the government amid a slew of sackings and resignations after a corruption scandal took place last month and the president pledged that the nation would meet standards of the West in the aspect of clean governance.

Arakhamia said that politicians should not head the “force” agencies of Ukraine, like the defence ministry, in wartime, instead, they should be led by people who have a background in security or defence.

He added that the position of minister of strategic industries will be offered to Reznikov.

Reznikov, who had earlier stated that it was up to Zelenskyto decide on the reshuffle, later while speaking to the Ukrainian Fakty ICTV online media said that his reshuffle to the new ministry was news to him.

"If I suddenly received such an offer from the president of Ukraine or the prime minister, I would refuse it, because I do not have the expertise," said Reznikov.

During wartime, the defence minister fostered ties with Western defence officials and also monitored the receipt of military aid worth billions of dollars to help Kyiv fight the Moscow invasion.

Podolyak stated that the "wonderful" personal relations of Reznikov with allies have helped the country receive military supplies.

"Negotiations are not just mathematical formulae but also personal relationships. And trust. Unfortunately, today we are losing a measure of trust in us," Podolyak added.
